Carrying on from the Colourless Vote, it's time for some gold stuff - hand me your top three cards in each allied guild! Read carefully! This is a little different to the last few!
The Rules
For each of the five allied guilds, give me the three best cards for multiplayer, #1-#3 (with #1 being the best, obviously. Derp).
Order matters. I use this to calculate the final power rankings.
Cards up to and including Magic Origins are valid votes (no BFZ / Commander 2015 cards).
Cards with 3+ colours are not a valid vote (don't worry, they'll get their chance).
I'm happy to accept "honorable mentions". Just don't give me 37 of them.
You've got a week to give me your list. I'll close it off at noon my time on October 26th (or 4AM GMT... yes, I really am on the other side of the planet to you). I have been known to completely miss this time / leave it open for a couple of days / allow the odd late entry.
To help with your voting, here's the usual details for all five of the guilds...
The point of hybrid mana is that it can be one or the other. I consider Boros Reckoner a mono-red card for the purposes of deckbuilding (since I wouldn't play it in any non-red deck) and I consider Tasigur, the Golden Fang Dimir-colored (since I wouldn't play it in any non-blue deck).
I think Tasigur should be ineligible. We should go by the casting cost of the card to determine it's color for these power rankings, not color identity (which would be BUG anyway).
On the other hand, I really like Sterling Grove and considered listing it myself. I'm seriously hoping it makes it into the C16 product.
My list, based on firsthand experience playing with the cards. I find that Rakdos and Gruul really don't offer that much in the way of dual-coloured gold cards, so some of my picks aren't anything special by any means. I guess if I owned cards like Olivia Voldaren and Xenagos, God of the Revel, those would definitely make my list.
AzoriusWU
Thopter Foundry - True that it needs Sword of the Meek to be any good, but my UW Thopter deck is one of my winningest and most fun-to-play decks I've ever built.
Supreme Verdict - Uncounterable Wrath. Needs no further justifcation.
Sphinx's Revelation - Glad someone else mentioned this card too. Put a couple of these in every UW control deck I make.
Baleful Strix - As someone else eloquently put: "the perfect 2-drop".
Notion Thief - Not only does this card shut down a lot of mid- to late game draw from your opponents, but when you build around this thing, winning the game is pretty trivial when you pick up your deck.
Knight of the Reliquary - When you're tutoring for broken-ass lands like Gaea's Cradle or whatever, the card is well worth the 3 mana. The fact that it can do this every turn and grow itself in the process? I don't know, seems good.
Glittering Wish - I play this card in a Bant blink deck and this card is the real deal when it comes to adding versatility via a wishboard. Going to hit 5 mana next turn? Grab a Prophet of Kruphix and play on everyone else's turn too. Need card draw? Edric, Spymaster of Trest or Prime Speaker Zegana can both do work, depending on your board. Need Wrath? Supreme Verdict. Lots of busted artifacts/enchantments to deal with? Fracturing Gust. Looking for a value play with all your ETB/LTB dudes or a means to push your army through your opponents' defences? Grab a Venser, the Sojourner! I think you get the idea. But seriously, for 2 extra mana, this card is pretty much always exactly what you need in a given situation.
Fracturing Gust - Instant speed mass artifact/enchantment removal that also gains a ***** ton of life? Amazing card.

What is the purpose of the list if not to help people choose cards for their deck? Tasigur and Dimir are a natural fit, so why shouldn't he be on the list? For that matter, why shouldn't Underground Sea be on the list? Where else am I going to play it?
The problem is Tasigur is NOT UB or (U/B), he is B only.
What is the purpose of color identity? To make sure Commander decks don't violate the color pie, right? The whole point of hybrid mana is that it can be either/or. Kitchen Finks in a mono-green deck does not break the color pie. All hybrid cards are designed with that philosophy in mind. That whole color identity restriction should just be stricken from the Commander rules since you can't produce mana of a color that isn't in your commander's identity anyway.
You are violating rule #6 if you conceded he is a tri-color card.
I see the ranking as a practical guide to what to put in decks, not as a list of cards that have certain mana symbols in the top right corner. If you think that's wrong then please explain what you believe the rankings are for.
I see them "as a list of cards that have certain mana symbols in the top right corner". The instructions at the top of the thread validate my viewpoint, it doesn't validate yours at all.
I agree that Tasigur and Wolf Run are obvious candidates for Dimir and Gruul decks respectively (and that you're unlikely to be running them outside of these colours), but I've been excluding stuff like this from the gold votes simply to prevent confusion for newbies off the street.
So, to that end, they'd be invalid votes. But, as a cube manager, I totally get wanting to classify them here - happens all the time when putting a cube together.
Wolf Run is definitely a viable vote for the lands thread, though (case in point for lands being that Cabal Coffers will probably land somewhere close to the top ten there... but if I were to classify it in a cube, it'd be a black card).
My Cabal Cofferss are in my black binder, my Kessig Wolf Runs are in the Gruul section of my allied colors binder. The only reason my Nightveil Specters are in the Dimir section is because I can't put them in two different binders at the same time.
Yup, I hear you.
It's just the difference between "Best Dimir card" and "Best cards for a Dimir deck", alas.
All done! Results in the OP, full results here, Enemy/3+ colour Gold thread following shortly.
Sorry I had to do a little creative accounting given the invalid votes (CloudKicker, I realised too late that Thopter Foundry is an invalid vote too... by all means vote for it in the next thread!)... man, one day we'll have a comprehensive Gruul list in particular... that guild is a wasteland still.
Read carefully! This is a little different to the last few!
