Meta Background
My casual play group consists of 4-5 budget players, the host with high-powered slow decks (think Pod without any infinite loops, more later) and me who usually brings a win first, ignore what my opponents do type decks. The last few times out I've been targeted first and killed out so I sit watching everyone else play. I'm not really sure how to prevent this as I see everyone else playing with crappy decks and I still get hated out. I've tried a few of my EDH decks like Maelstrom Wanderer and I usually win the first time or take a turn the length of the whole board and the group hates it. Inifinite loops are frowned upon, but board wipes and major disruption like Scrambleverse and Dovescape are fine.
Approach
This deck leverages the Constellation mechanic along with Cloudstone Curio to manage the board. The goal is to win through attrition and never use the combat phase. The current version includes a singleton of Necrologia and Erebos, God of the Dead to augment the Eidolon Card draw. The mana base is updated to create synergy with Utopia Sprawl and new BFZ duals. It also includes the new Daxos and the multiplayer version of O-ring.
Great points, thanks! I did realize quickly the Dictates I chose looked good at first, but performed poorly. I actually found myself returning the Kruphix to my hand to stop drawing extra cards and I didn't have enough gas to keep going.
I like the Sphere and i can't believe I forgot it. I used it for a full year in Oloro to great success.
I like running both. I usually play eight 1 CMC rampers, always 4x Utopia Sprawl and then whatever else for the others (Exploration, Burgeoning, Wild Growth, etc.) and an easy way to win is to chain out a ton of spells and top off the curve with Sphere of Safety. Aggro just outright loses to those kinds of curves and, remember, this is all fast and effective ramp so it happens quickly.
Note that you can cut way back on lands by playing Utopia Sprawls and such so you don't have to cut a ton of spells for them or anything. They're just way more powerful than basic lands in "Enchantments matter" decks.
OK, I had considered Exploration too. I'm not sure I want to do 8x 1CMC, it might freak the group out. I went higher on Sterling Grove to use it more as a tutor. I also tweaked the lands so I have all the Forest shocklands because I definitely want to keep Chromanticore and Mogis.
There's no reason to play 22 lands. You get to play 6-8 1 CMC rampers because they're just better. I also see no reason to play Lanterns over Fertile Grounds/Prismatic Omens/etc. You really need to go all-in on cheap Enchantments to get these decks to sing. Do not trick yourself into thinking that playing a 3 mana Artifact is "fine" because it really is significantly more beneficial to play a cheaper Enchantment even if it's a slightly weaker card.
The deck gets a lot worse if you don't play the 2-4x Enchantress's Presence. That is the ideal turn 2 play every game. 4 draw engines really isn't the same thing as 6-8.
Ok, good point about the lantern, I like Prismatic Omen better and I forgot about it. I tweaked the numbers a bit because I actually wanted to reduce the Blossoms to 3x.
I'm concerned about drawing myself out of cards or losing the Elixir somehow. Am I being too paranoid?
City of Solitude is better than the cards that you listed at beating counterspells (in my opinion anyways). The Leyline is arguably better if you can cast it on turn 0 but that seems ambitious.
You can't cut the lands and then not add the 1-2 CMC rampers to replace them :P.
I've never even come close to decking myself but then again I always play Luminarch Ascension in my lists. I just stop playing spells when I stop needing them. Maybe play Words of Wind or some other Words? Words can do a LOT of work in these kinds of decks. They're all very good but none of them can checkmate an entire table like WoW can. Even in non-infinite loops it's still very easy to lock people out of the game. Obviously you use WoW to bounce say Wild Growth as much as you want (more-or-less) every turn while everyone else has to bounce real cards. It doesn't take long to completely secure a win.
I agree Words of Wind is bonkers, but I want to play this deck more than once and I think it might be too much for that group. If I played with a bunch of randoms, I would definitely use it. In my head, I was equating the Omen to the 1 CMC mana fixer. Also, I should have Luminarch in there, no logical reason not to do it. I bumped my tutor to 4x as well.
Growth isn't ramp either :3. Just play Fertile Ground or something if you need a ramping color fixer.
Master of the Feast is hard on the mana base and the deck lost the Notion Thieves. Are you sure that you still want him around? Those could be more flex slots.

Yea, I was just noticing how he seemed out of place all of a sudden. I feel like I'm too vulnerable to flying without him, but I want to stay on theme with the Enchantment Creature card type.
Ok, so I finally got a chance to play this today and I ended up stalemating to a Jeskai control (same deck as last time) now with Master the Way as the only win con.
I couldn't attack due to 3x Propaganda that he had out (same problem as last time I played this deck).
I'm thinking I need Tranquil Grove, Calming Verse, or Cleansing Meditation. Any thoughts or preferences? Also, does Threshold check when the spell is cast or when after it resolves? (e.g does it check the cards put there this turn to count for the 7)
I also thought Aegis of the Gods might be good as a singleton since I can tutor it easily with the Grove.
In all, it performed nicely with no one ever attacking me and my only life loss from direct damage.
Calming Verse is better than Cleansing Meditation and Tranquil Grove is literally unplayable. I feel like you're misreading it or something. Threshold is checked as part of the spell's resolution meaning that it won't suddenly trigger as you bin 5+ Enchantments to resolve to spell.
Aegis of the Gods is only useful against Black/Red decks and neither color struggles to kill X/1s. That's why that card will never be playable as long as things like Ivory Mask exist.
I don't understand how 3x Propaganda is difficult to beat. You have Guardians, Mogis, Coinsmiths and the ability to tap 6N lands. There's no possible way for you to outright lose to a couple of those.
The reason I keep getting beat with 3x Propaganda is I only had 16 lands on the board and only pay for two attackers. He had a Wall of Denial that I couldn't kill because he would counter my 4th spell that would kill it with 2x Doomwake Giant on the board. Perhaps in 20+ turns I could beat him, but that isn't worth the time to let everyone else stand around and watch us. This same stalemate resulted last time I played the deck, so the third time I want to make sure I have a quick answer.
Exploration always disappoints as a late-game draw. It is literally only useful in the first few turns. I would probably run Abundant Growth ahead of it (it's at least mana-fixing and card advantage).
Never say no to Replenish, even as a singleton, and especially if there are mill decks running around in your meta. At risk of repeating myself (stop me if you've heard this one), Mrs. Bl00m was running an Azorius aura deck once, and got Archive Trapped by a guy as she scalped him... and then calmly passed the turn and Replenished the next turn to get back all the Control Magics, O-Rings and Greater Auramancies she'd been forced to mill. GG, folks! That alone makes it worth running. Imagine it as a response to a Wrath!
Replenish is a pure meta call. No one but you can possibly know if you need it or not. If people pack things like a Back to Nature on a consistent basis then it's essential. If they just have a bit of spot removal you can easily live without it. The card would still be good, I would always play it, but at 15 bucks a pop (or whatever) you kind of need a reason to purchase the thing. That being said if you have some lying around I would always play them. There's just absolutely no reason not to.
The self mill thing that Bloom briefly referenced is no joke. Replenish + Attunement is an exceptionally powerful card advantage engine that's been employed in extremely competitive Magic decks. Digging 5 cards a turn into a card that "draws 20 cards" is just as absurd as it sounds. Attunement is one of those bull***** "Recurring Nightmare" Enchantments that returns itself as part of the cost so you can't actually remove it with anything other than counterspells. Plain old removal is useless. That means that you're completely free to dig for your Replenishes at which point you just outright win the game with trillions of Guardian triggers or whatever. That's not some silly, janky combo. It's a legitimately fearsome duo.
Exploration is at its worst in this archetype. You're literally playing 18-20 lands which means that it's legitimately hard to get significant value out of this thing even when it's cast on turn 1 (let alone turn 5). When you do it's usually because you're going off with Enchantress's Presence (or whatever) at which point it's a moot point because you've probably won the game anyways. If you have some free Explorations lying around do yourself a favor and build a Life from the Loam deck. You're wasting them if you're jamming them in an Enchantress list.
OK, my goal was to get some ramp with this deck as the speed or inability to cast multiple things in a turn is what keeps me from taking control of the game. The one land a turn limitation or discarding my hand from too many cards are things I need to fix. The deck is weak to flying, but that isn't a huge concern for the meta.
Traditional green ramp spells seem to be out of place. I wanted to put in an Enchantment to fit the theme, but maybe that isn't a good call since both of you pointed out excellent reasons to not use it. I actually had Abundant Growth but I took it out because mana fixing and additional cards didn't help at all, I wanted to not cast it every time it was in my hand.
I like the Attunement / Replinish combo, but I have enough GY decks, I don't want this to be another one. That being said, a one-of might be good.
I actually had Abundant Growth but I took it out because mana fixing and additional cards didn't help at all, I wanted to not cast it every time it was in my hand.
That seems a bit harsh lol. Worst-case scenario it's a 1 CMC cantrip that color fixes for a 5 color deck. Best case scenario it also triggers some Guardians, Coinsmiths, draw engines, etc. I have a hard imagining that the card was actively terrible.
Maybe my approach is fundamentally flawed. I've been thinking I need to cast multiple Creature Enchantment cards a turn, when I really just need to cast multiple Enchantment cards. I'll put the 2x Abundant Growth back in for the Exploration then and give it another go.
Sometimes I just need to talk it out a bit. Thanks!
I'm trying to get away from Elixir of Immortality when it's inferior for recursion/mill. I would like to spark some discussion around these cards and their merits in an Enchantment-based deck (namely, this one).
Academy Rector - Expensive $$, works best with a combo finisher
Bow of Nylea - I like this because I can choose the cards to put back in and it's low CMC, can be recurred as an Enchantment as well
Crystal Chimes - Expensive CMC, but can be used the turn you play it and cast an Enchantment with enough mana available
Replenish - Expensive $$, awesome after a board wipe
Starfield of Nyx - Great first ability, but the second alters your board state and I'm not sure if that works out well
Whip of Erebos - I don't like exiling cards in a MP setting, can be recurred as an Enchantment as well
I'm also trying to figure out if I need a Courser? I think something else should be in that slot. Should I go with more Daxos?
I personally think that the deck needs card draw moreso than anything else. On that note I think that running fewer than 4 Eidolons is a big mistake because I'd not only want those but even additional ways to refill your hand. You are playing a 30 mana source deck after all; you want relevant things to do with all of that mana. It's too easy to burn out otherwise in my experience. It doesn't have to be Enchantress's Presence or Underworld Connections either. It could be something as simple as Necrologia given your lifegain. 5 mana draw 7? The card is sweet!
Cloudstone Curio is an interesting. Finding the right number to field is always tricky. Sometimes I feel like it's 3 so that you always see one but then you play games where you're just spinning your wheels generating marginal value (if any). In a slightly slower deck such as this with expensive + mana intensive cards I might be inclined to try 2 and see how that fares.

I agree with this. The only problem I seem to have with this deck (other than not winning) is that I run out of cards in hand. This is why I think Daxos will be the golden ticket because I can draw cards/swing life for only 1WB for as much mana as I have.
I'm going to try this in two weeks and see how it goes.

I'm also trying to figure out if I need a Courser? I think something else should be in that slot. Should I go with more Daxos?
Cloudstone Curio is an interesting. Finding the right number to field is always tricky. Sometimes I feel like it's 3 so that you always see one but then you play games where you're just spinning your wheels generating marginal value (if any). In a slightly slower deck such as this with expensive + mana intensive cards I might be inclined to try 2 and see how that fares.
