The Basilisk Collar + Mortarpod combo should help keep me safe in the rattlesnake sense, and the deck will look on its surface like a normal equipment deck until I happen to draw a Thopter Foundry.
I'd like ideas on support spells, numbers on the cards I've got - really anything!
Batterskull is another obvious good card with Stoneforge Mystic. Four copies of Stoneforge, Puresteel, and maybe the Shikari would be helpful, but understandably Stoneforge is not very budget-friendly. Lightning Greaves is always a great card to have with Shikari around, because you can protect your creatures at instant speed.
Muddle the Mixture is a decent counterspell that can also find pretty much anything in your deck.
It seems like you may need some one drops in here. Enlightened Tutor would be amazing if you had the budget for it. Steelshaper's Gift can't get Thopter but it can get any other equipment. Ponder, Preordain, or Brainstorm work well as early game filtering.

And since this is potentially a combo deck, Counterspell or Arcane Denial or something might provide some protection for your combo pieces, especially when paired with card draw.
All that said, I think the first suggestion (more SOTMs!) is probably the one that deserves most consideration.
To give you an idea of my current meta - I play against a Mono Green Counters deck (mostly Hydras) another Big Green deck that is mostly standard legal, a White Allies deck, a Pauper Infect deck (eww) and a G/W goodstuff deck.
Most people seem to be saying to ditch the Equipment Deck idea and go straight to a Thopter Sword list. That would look something like this:
I'm a little more Johnny than that - I like the idea of my Sword of the Meek just looking like another janky equipment (the guys don't know about the tournament scene) until I pop out Thopter Foundry
Let me try again with the Half-Baked Equipment Combo Plan:
Seems useful. In a dedicated Thopter-Sword deck (where you run 3-4 of each card), I think Xyx is right that Ponder/Preordain would be great to dig for your combo pieces. But with only 2-of and 3-of, tutoring via Thirst for Knowledge is likely to be more reliable, if slower.
I'm not sure how reliably the deck will assemble Mortarpod + Collar. I included Batterskull to make the Thopter tokens more of a threat instead. With WW and UU casting costs, some form of dual land might be necessary.
I might goldfish with it a bunch of times to refine the card proportions.
EDIT: Wow. Mystic Gate got EXPENSIVE. I thought I would be saving money choosing that over a shockland. Also, this seems like a bad deck for Tinker, or I at least need a better target than Batterskull.
How budget do you want to go? You can make horribly broken Thopter/Sword decks without running a single rare card if you're not dealing with a banlist.
I happen to have 3 Stoneforge Mystic, 3 Puresteel Paladin and a couple Umezawa's Jitte so I think a decent equipment base would be fun.
