I wanted to make a deck that I didn't spend heaps on that could play out quite fun. I came up with the following (I own everything that costs over $1 already). If you guys have suggestions on anything else that's fairly cheap that really powers up the deck, anything would be welcome. Yes, I realize Vesuva should be in here, but I don't want to buy it. Thanks! (:
I do own an Oblivion Stone, so that's a good call. Spine of Ish Sah and Duplicant are cheaper than I realized, maybe they would be good additions. I'll do some testing with them (:
What are the weaker cards in the deck then?

Thorn of Amethyst seems horrendous. You're going to lose to aggro, not Control. Chalice is just plain worse than some form of land fetching, even something as budget as Ancient Stirrings. You need Posts, not random colorless mana. Sylvan Scrying would be ideal but isn't necessary. It That Betrays and Platinum Angel both seem rather lackluster to me. I've never really seen them do anything.

I was just making do with what extra cards I had lying around. I have Sylvan Scrying in there, just forgot to add it to the decklist haha.
I'll test removing the 2 Thorn of Amethyst for some answer cards that were recommended above.

Sure but I mean you asked what your worst cards are and those seems like the obvious choices to me. If anything you need to cut back on fat and add some more early game action which I why I talked removing some of your bigger threats. You also really don't want to play Thorn in a deck that should stomp Control but get wrecked by early aggression.

That makes great sense! I appreciate the advice. I'll do some tweaking this afternoon (:

With your creature package I like Sundering Titan, Kozilek and the colossus of akroas. They do something or are resilient to removal or both. The steel hellkite and it that betrays will have 0 impact on the board in any competitive game. I think steel hellkite is runnable but I'd cut both it that betrays and play two swiftfoot boots. If you do keep the Platinum Angel. I'd cut two thorns for sylvan primordial's . If it wasn't budget you could have some fun with cutting the chalices and playing like 2 genesis wave(would be amazing if you hit say a primordial and a Sundering Titan)or helix pinnacle. Tower of fortune might be slow but outside kozilek you have no card draw.

Realize that this is the casual forum. I am already cutting the Thorns though, as pointed out earlier they aren't the best idea to run.
Do you really need 12 Land fetchers?! I would replace four of them with card draw, i would suggest Staff of Nin.
Staff of Nin is a great include! I'll be editing the deck now. Thanks! (:
And yeah, I'm not sure how many land fetchers I'll need. I've liked how Crop Rotation can double as life-gain and how I'm always guaranteed to have at least one them in my starting hand every game. I think I'll keep it the way it is for now since I've never had an issue with too many of them to use.

Casual formats can be competitive or have competitive meta, and staff of nin definitely seems good.
That's fair enough! It has a few weaker and a few stronger decks in the group. I'm not wanting this to be the end-all beat-all MUD casual deck, I just want it to be somewhat competitive and fairly explosive with some prison aspects to is (like the Lodestone Golems).
