Ive mostly seen how to scale up for more players and more difficult decks, but what about scaling it down for pauper decks? Or even for Cubes?
I love the idea of creating a variant like Horde for Magic. Ive taken a step back from continual collecting inflated cards every release for standard play and started getting more interested in "out-of-the-box" styles, and having balanced cubes satisfies this.
But, pauper level decks have lower levels of power in creatures & spells, and cubed decks lack the consistency found in constructed decks.
Any ideas on turning the Horde variant to balance with decks made from cubes of different power levels?
I don't know how relevant this is but I keep a Cube made untirely of leftover uncommons.
My rule is that I have to already have a playset of something before it can go in the cube and they're all uncommons.
Makes for strange play. Common cards are where MtG gets it's utility from. More than one might think. Rares are whewre the power comes from. With only uncommons to build from you get stuck in a weird power level null zone where cards look like they'll be lethal, but then aren't for a lack of backup.
Hope that's informative somehow.
