Alright, so I'm trying to devise a new eternal format that many others have probably considered. It will be a non-rotating format that will be along the same vein as modern, legacy, and vintage; same deck construction: minimum of 60 cards with a sideboard of exactly 15 cards. I've yet to fully commit to a banlist and restricted list but I hope the community can help me on that.
The card pool is meant to be taken from products that aren't, weren't, and won't ever be used for Standard (and what used to be Standard back in the day). Additionally, the products need to have their own expansion symbol. Here's what the legal card pool would be:
Portal | Portal Second Age | Portal Three Kingdoms
Starter 1999 | Starter 2000
Beatdown Box Set | Game Night | Game Night 2019
Deckmasters | Duel Decks
From the Vault | Signature Spellbook | Mythic Edition
All in all I believe this has some promise since this format can either be played online or kitchen table. Hopefully it will catch on since it should be relatively easy to play; most of these products are recent and cards are available (unlike other eternal formats). Hopefully I'll brew some and then post some decklists to see what anyone thinks!
Thanks for your attention!
If you want to test or deck build on Cockatrice, you can use the filter to choose the sets. Putting "or" and "set" and then typing (as a different set each time):
