This EDH/Commander deck is a work in progress. My General is Teysa, Orzhov Scion as she fits the colors I want, she's cheap and if all else fails I can always use her abilities. She the General until WotC designs a B/W Legendary Cleric. This is a Tribal deck. I've collected every Cleric that has been printed(currently looking for foils/promos of clerics).
Essentially, you prevent damage and gain life throughout the game. You can overwhelm your opponent with creatures or bleed them out. Commander is a fun format if your playgroup will allow it, we all know what cards/decks are hated in the format. Just shy away from them and have fun. Any
thoughts or suggestion are welcomed.
This primer is due for a small update, gonna get around to it super soon! The thing is, neither Theros nor Khans have brought us very much in the way of noteworthy clerics, sadly. Here's the breakdown:
It's ironic because for such a god-themed expansion you'd think they'd have a lot of clerics to worship those gods, but it's really only a handful. And they're all kinda "meh" compared to the heavy hitters currently listed in this primer. Also one non-cleric that spawns Cleric tokens: Heliod, God of the Sun, who I suppose is neat enough to include in the primer even though his ability is kind of expensive and I don't know if he'd see too much play.
Although Heliod, God of the Sun is not a cleric, I found that it is a fine replacement for Akroma's Devoted in my mono-w build. It doesn't directly boost your cleric count or tap for the Master Apothecary ability, but it can do so after another turn (and then some) and it gives you some more resilience to wrath effects.
My group is very enchantment heavy lately, hence the reason I'm running both the reliquaries and the war priests. Still, with the Gift of Immortality + sac combo, I might take out 2 copies of one of those. People used to use burn or pingers heavily, so Spiritualist and Medic are in the SB if they ever start reverting to that again. Deck doesn't have much of a way to deal with creatures other than Zealot, though I've never had too much trouble there because Mother protects, Rotlung and High Priest discourage, Gift gives me chump blockers and there's plenty of lifegain to lessen the blow. I've found this deck draws way less hate than it deserves for some reason. Usually by the time I'm set up, they can't stop it, but they never seem to put 2 and 2 together and realize they need to kill this thing off early. If you're wondering why I don't run Conspiracy, I have no idea to be honest.
so it looks like a lot of new clerics are coming out of Shadows over Innistrad they seem to summon 1/1 white and black cleric tokens looks very interesting.

Khans surprisingly has given us no clerics thus far other than Abzan Battle Priest, Arashin Cleric, and Qarsi High Priest, none of whom are really that outstanding.
Hopefully the future will bring more clerics!
