Here's my first draft of an aggressive Mardu Aggro deck. Notable exclusions: the 3 goblin token spell, mardu ascendancy. I left them out to try to make the mana base more stable.
Some facts of magic:
-Terror is an emotion which, when experienced, results in death.
-The pox was a disease notorious for having killed one-third, rounded up, of Europe’s population. Smallpox, on the other hand, killed only a single person.
-A person riding a horse cannot be stopped by foot soldiers, large animals, walls, archers, or even catapults.
I like it, just a question. Do you really think Sorin is a 4 off?
might just be me, dont think he is that good, its like it requires two of him before he is worth the cost. But I like the buildup of the deck. (im currently talking about the midrange)
how does it handle a full on Temur Tempo deck? thinking 4/4 on turn 3 for instance, you play a high amount of tap lands. meaning it is realistic you got something on turn... 4?
I know im Aggro player by heart so tap lands always make me twitch. but was just a thought. maybe cut 2-3 tap lands, you got enough fetches to do it
That Temur tempo deck is also playing a bunch of tap lands, its 3 mana 4/4 is just as likely to take to turn 4 as Mardu's answers plays (eg. crackling doom, mardu charm). The khan-colour decks in the format can only one one set of fetchlands unfortunately, so taplands will rule the day.
I agree that tap lands are being played allot, but Since the temur deck is trying to win fast/midrange, im playing more pain then scry/tap lands. and its working rather well.
I don't understand what you mean by this statement. It is not possible to play more than 4 fetchlands in a temur deck that get you more than one on-colour land. if you're playing, like, polluted delta and bloodstained mire you might as well play basic islands and mountains, they're almost strictly better. And yes, you can try to play more basics than taplands and hope to get lucky but it doesn't seem like a consistent strategy in a 3 colour deck. It's hard enough hitting both colours early in a two colour deck without at least 8-12 duals, it's way worse in a 3 colour deck.
Sorin will be amazing as long as you have enough early creatures to support him. His ultimate is realistic and game-winning, and his + prolongs the game and actually helps him to defend himself. I'm 100% certain that he's a 4-of in the creature heavy list. If he's not good in the other list, it's the rest of the deck that will change around him.

We might need to split the control and aggro discussion into two threads, but I'm surprised by no End Hostilities in the control deck.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
I think the controlling version is trying too hard to be like the midrange version (which actually looks pretty decent). I don't see how Butcher of the Horde helps a controlling strategy, for example, and without it, cards like Crater's Claws and Sorin start looking a lot less exciting. All that stuff belongs to midrange strategies and trying to shoehorn them into a control deck is just weakening your best gameplan.
If there's a Mardu control deck to be had, it isn't going to be just a Mardu midrange deck with fewer creatures and more removal.
Sure, sure. I should have marked them as slow and fast midrange decks. The first one probably qualifies as aggro, even. Control wouldn't be too different. Add end hostilities, more utter end, another removal spell, and take out butcher and seeker.

The 2 Raiders' Spoils should probably be Sorin, Solemn Visitor or maybe even Utter End, but the card drawing seems like it should keep the pressure on. If you don't have any creatures or warriors on the field, you're probably losing anyways and Sorin won't help much either.
Herald of Anafenza at 3 seems like a good number, although it might go down to 2. With the aggressive nature of this deck, you won't be using it's outlast ability unless you're behind or drawing duds, at least in the early game. Late game it pumps out more guys while making himself stronger or fuels Butcher of the Horde.
Seeker of the Way is incredible, especially with the added boost of Chief of the Edge. 6-8 point life swings seem INSANE in the early game putting you ridiculously far ahead. If you are able to proc the Raiders' Spoils, all that life gain can go into card draw.
As far as lands go, I don't think this deck wants more than 8 tap lands (it doesn't want any at all, but those are the breaks). Luckily enough this deck isn't too colored mana intensive, so I think it should be safe to run a higher amount of basics.

I think the worst matchup I've had with my version of the deck is Jeskai Tempo, where they drop cheap creatures like Taylor Swiftspear and Seeker of the Way and eventually Jeskai Ascendancy and just wreck with pure card quality and continuous beats.
Any ideas on how to hate out Jeskai sideboard-wise? I still have a few slots in my sideboard that I barely use.
The 4-0 list is playing a bunch of removal in the board. Just pull out your crappy creatures like heralds and arc lightning which is slow against them and bring in Injury and/or Mardu Charm.

For reference, here's the list I'm currently using. Yeah I think injury is the way to go vs Jeskai, now that I think about it. I don't play Heralds because they're just agonizingly slow + they're not warriors themselves.
There are even fetchless versions of this deck for $9.

Thanks for that!
I had been wondering about a few things like Zurgo and Mardu ascendancy. I wasn't sure how the ascendancy would work out with limited amounts of creatures, but it looks like it's ok. I'll be testing this list out for sure.
Puddle Jumper -- It almost always is in block constructed. If the aggro deck doesn't work, it's because of bad fixing. That was a big reason why UW heroic was only Tier 2 last season.

Usually I find myself ideally Fetch into Black, Bloodsoaked, or if I don't have it, I'll Tapland with an untapped 2nd for Chief, then 3rd for Charm/Ascendency Mana and then go back to tap lands. I'm wondering if Zurgo is really better than something like Wingmate Roc.
