I've been playing MTG for a few years but would still consider myself quite a noob when it comes to strategically putting a deck together. I just play casually and usually build decks from whichever random cards I happen to have collected from booster packs. However, I really like the idea of forming a fungus and ooze deck. Here's something I've come up with:
No idea if it'll actually work, but the idea with this one is to amass an army of creature tokens that can be used to build up the power and strength of my main creatures. Sacrificing the tokens will boost creatures like Gobbling Ooze, Gluttonous Slime, and Mycoloth. But because "sacrificing" a token is still considered a death, all the Rot Shambler should benefit as well. Tukatongue Thallid's ability will give me two opportunities to sacrifice or have creatures die, as needed.
In the time it'll take to build my creatures' power/strength, Druid's Deliverance will fend off the opponent for awhile, and will also add to the number of creature tokens at my disposal each time I use it.
I'm concerned that not having enough mana will be an issue, so I included Descendants' Path to ease the cost of the expensive creatures, and I also included Awakening Zone to provide some colorless mana and sacrifice-able creature tokens. But even with these, I think the issue with this deck is, by the time I get a group of built-up fungus and ooze creatures ready to fight, the opponent may already have amassed their own army, that I then somehow need to break through. Giving some of them trample with Fists of Ironwood and Appeal // Authority will hopefully help with this.
Any thoughts? I'm open to all opinions/suggestions!
P.S. - Can't figure out how to get the card tag to show the newer version of Mitotic Slime. Gah!
Maybe this can help for the image of the Slime Mitotic Slime
To do so, inside the CARD tag, you need to write an equals '=' a tube '|' and the name of the expansion, for instance 'Magic 2011 (M11)'
So this card tag will look like:
For the sideboard, I would have a Mold Shambler, maybe... Or run 2 in Main, just in case.
Since you cast it with Descendants' Path, you can always kick it, just in case
The problem I see is that you have 8 cards that cost 5 Mana... You might have lost when you can cast them.
I believe you need a way to survive until you get your Mycoloth, for instance Feed the Clan or Life Goes On
I think that you've gone a little too all-in on the sacrificial slime plan IMO without too much payoff.
Cards to think about cutting:
Gobbling ooze -> it's just not good for the cost; running 4 mycoloths is already fine
mitotic slime -> is fine, but not necessarily the best
Cards to Look in to:
Llanowar elves or Arbor elves are extremely strong Utopia Mycon is a cute way to generate mana later on, and it is much stronger if you decide to go full fungus. Avenger of Zendikar could act as a 1-of finisher if you wanted
If you want to go heavier on saprolings: Sporoloth Ancient and Sporesower Thallid type packages could replace your slimes if you're so inclined. (There are other thallids that make saprolings too) Thelon of Havenwood is also a nice buff, though he's legendary
Cards that are good, but I wouldn't recommend if you're trying to budget: Scavenging Ooze is straight up one of the best green creatures in the game, but is much better if you have removal, etc. Putrid Leech is kind of an ooze, and just very strong by itself. However you'd have to go green black Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx is very good in any monogreen swarm deck

I'm not an expert on oozes and slimes. But if you have any trouble with artifacts, enchantments or lands, then Acidic Slime could help.
Mitotic Slime

I agree with the idea of Acidic Slime, maybe better than Mold Shambler
Maybe, to block during the first turns, you could have Thallid Shell-Dweller
The problem I see is that you have 8 cards that cost 5 Mana... You might have lost when you can cast them.
I believe you need a way to survive until you get your Mycoloth, for instance Feed the Clan or Life Goes On
