Hello all! Looking for a fun token deck to play. Thought it could be fun to make a thread to discuss all types of token decks. If you have a fun list yourself feel free to post it. I would love to compare different types of token decks and see what else is new out there. Have fun. Remember, it's an extravaganza!
I'd built a deck about zombie tokens a few years back. It's sole purpose (in the beginning) was to make use of all the zombie token cards I've accumulated. However, while putting out quite the number of tokens at times, it is not about those tokens per se anymore. Obviously the deck could easily be improved by switching out cards for superior alternatives etc., but it was just a Casual built and never meant to be competitive, so I just used what was available to me at the time. I had a lot more token creators when I started building the deck, but they didn't make the cut in the end.
Interestingly enough, around the same time I had built another deck, a W/U one NOT about tokens, that ended up spewing out way more zombie tokens than the above deck on occasion. It's sort of a combo deck, and a clunky one at that (especially since it is slightly over 60 cards), but man it is beautiful when it works. I can still rememeber the face of my first opponent playing against this (an earlier version) when the cards in his library started hitting the yard/exile and kept on going (that's what you get for playing 40% creatures) while an immense army of tokens suddenly appeared in front of me. He even asked me for the list after the game.
In a regular game you can just play some Elves, make them bigger and attack. You can make the odd token with Dwynen's Elite, Imperious Perfect or Huntmaster and maybe Overrun your army with Ezuri.
In a lucky game you can try to Elvish Promenade with at least 4 Elves on the table (ideally 1 being Heritage Druid or Birchlore), then tap the tokens for mana to immediately cast Distant Melody to refill your hand. If things go really well, you'll have leftover mana to cast more elves, use them to cast a HUGE Elvish Promenade, and then draw your deck or go crazy with Ezuri. When the stars align, you can make 100+ Elf tokens and set up to attack for huge damage.
Pump out as many tokens as possible, doesn't matter what type- humans/thopters/servos whatever. Then convert them to 3/2 eldrazi horrors with the evangel. I picture eldrazi popping out of the heads of humans and saprolings every time I play this.
A typical fungus saprolings deck. Flood with enablers and eldrazi monument for the win. Don't worry about direct damage. With Darien and a Warden on the field let it all go and gain more members of your army and life.
The early snakes help ramp, kill stuff, and draw cards. The higher cost guys make tokens. Seshiro and Oran-Rief boost them all. Later in the game, casting Snakes keeps recurring Sosuke's Summons for more Snake token goodness.
My elf deck isn't a token deck per say, even though it can produce a good amount of tokens. Be sure to include Elvish Promenade for good burst token generation.
I've always wanted to build a deck around Jarad but I haven't found the time or been on other building projects. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me if you have any questions
If I wanted more token producers there's wirewood hivemaster and wren's run packmaster. But they don't produce "elf" tokens. I would like to add jarad, golgari lich lord but I feel he would be way more useful with bigger targets to sacrifice. I would like to add savra, queen of the golgari but I feel I should have more sacrifice outlets to make use of her. Same with prowess of the fair. Not enough sacrificing going on. I don't feel it's as useful unless I can abuse it's effect. Ultimately I feel these five cards wouldn't have much synergy with shaman of the pack.
I would add in more discard enablers such as Duress, Transgress the Mind, Hymn to Tourach, and Whispers of Emrakul in order to get more value out of your Nath if you're dedicated to it. Also, I would make sure to have some kind of regen or rebirth cards for the removal that Nath is gonna pull. Cards as basic as Raise Dead, Exhume, or Zombify will help you keep Nath on the go so you can keep pumping tokens.

Ah Ok, you want a dedicated BG Elf tokens deck.
I agree that you should stick to things like produce "Elf" tokens, especially with Shaman of the Pack and the Elf Lords.
You might want other cards that take advantage of the number of Elves in play: Timberwatch Elf, Wellwisher and so on.
You could try to find room for more token producers like Second Harvest, but in testing I think you'll find that the token producers are all top-heavy (higher casting cost) and that your deck runs more smoothly if you don't skimp on the early mana producers and card draw. Second Harvest is also much worse than Elvish Promenade (counts nontoken Elves too and counts as an "Elf" spell), so you should have 4 Elvish Promenade before even considering any copies of Second Harvest.
You could also play more discard spells, but then you're becoming a dedicated Nath deck instead of a general Elf token deck. There isn't room for everything, so you have to choose.
Yes I definitely need to choose. All the possibilities were a bit overwhelming. I like the idea above, the splash for B is still worth it. Even if it's just for shaman of the pack. I can't wait to try this. One day I would like to make a deck around jarad, golgari lich lord and savra, queen of the golgari. While I am at it, does anybody have a goblin token deck they enjoy playing? I need a fun R deck to play and have always liked goblins.
I love my Savra deck using Endrek. I had always wanted a Savra deck as well so I just went for it. Eventually I'll build a Jared deck too.... I just build decks. I never have anyone to play with.
