At the last FNM someone was getting the store to host a Pauper tournament with the proviso that all the cards could only cost 0 or 1 mana (no X spells). I was trying to think of ways to break this...early thoughts by the players was to make mono-black or mono-red decks.
Some of my thoughts were:
1) Gruul, and use Granger Guildmage. Tinder Wall would help with early defense.
2) Build a very defensive deck.
3) Just go pure burn
Any thoughts on the right deck to build?

I forgot to mention that the minimum deck size is 40 cards, with a 5 card sideboard.
One idea I had was to use white life-gaining walls and blue mill cards. With 40 card decks, that could work, but it would leave me vulnerable to fliers.

I haven't looked at all the decks yet, but a few thoughts:
1) Bogles, a legitimate Modern competitive deck, is broken in a format with very very few edicts (Innocent Blood) and very very little mass removal (Electrickery? Tremor?)
The question is what is the payoff for fast mana? X spells are banned and there appear to be no 1cc cards with X cost abilities. There are only a few Level Up creatures at 1cc common, and few other 1cc creatures with repeatable abilities that scale well.
4) I think you can build burn without having to run less efficient cards, just by using more cycling
