Yep yall heard me. I have for a while now wanted to build a unicorn deck. Why? Not for some crazed love of them or anything. I just want to mess someone up with a unicorn deck and be like.... dude you know you just lost to unicorns right? I think it would be very funny to beat people to death with crazed equestrian creatures who are supposedly gentle lol
Now several things. First off I need something to get some card draw in order to get my doors and coats on the field. Secondly I think ill need more counters, third I need some ramp I think and finally anything else yall can muster up to make this spoof of all spoof decks come to life. I know I know its probably beneath all of your vaunted magic mind but please amuse the idea?
Cancel is just worse than Counterspell. I'd make that switch. Other than that, if you want other counermagic without breaking the bank, there's Prohibit, Dismiss, Mana Leak... There are a lot of options.
Levitation and Cloak of mist seem rather redundant. You don't need the Cloak, in my opinion. Getting rid of blockers with removal and counters should be enough to let your weak tribe through.
Perhaps Military Intelligence could be interesting as a card draw engine based on creatures?
Maybe a board wipe like Wrath of God could be handy.
Anyway, that's pretty far from your original list, so may not at all be what you want. But it's an idea of one way to run Unicorns FTW.
In Blue I'd recommend Ponder/Preordain, just because they're so good and efficient at helping you find cards. They're the best way to draw into Door of Destinies.
Life's Legacy depicts a unicorn, and it might be decent here if you have a way to pump power.
If non-unicorn creatures can be included, I think Lucent Liminid will be exceptionally fabulous here. You can also consider pegasi like Loyal Pegasus for more equestrian creature selection.
Changeling's reminder text states that "This creature is every creature types at all times".
"all times", including during the deckbuilding stage =D
Although I'd understand if the OP doesn't want to allow them. Many people seem to hate on them in tribal decks (even though so many tribal decks run Mutavault, which is no different).
Hmm.. I thought the Vinesteed was of equestrian origin, but I guess that's probably a second antler on the left and not just a tree in the background. One can hope
Once the constraints have been determined, we can proceed to assemble the most winningestest unicorn deck still allowed.
Minimum none but I want it to be unicorn based
Non unicorns are ok if absolutely necessary but it will hut the door and coat combo
changelings are fine
unicorn art is fine
unicorns is the focus
budget is low to be honest
format is any printed card in magic save unhinged
nothing else I can think of is off limits with the exception that I don't wanna be spending a ton of money per card.
-Brass Herald is pretty bad with only 17 Unicorns in the list. You'd expect to see just about 1 Unicorn in your top 4, on average. Sure, sometimes you would get lucky and draw 2 or more. Other times you could also draw none. At that point, it just becomes a 6-mana Adaptive Automaton. These Goblin Ringleader effects need a critical density of tribal spells to be effective. Usually at least 30. With under 20 Unicorns, you're not going to benefit much off the draw ability. Also, it won't even put a counter on Door of Destinies. At that point, you might as well just play Spear of Heliod for 3 mana to pump your guys. Spear costs less and will probably even net you more cards than Herald.
-Since your deck has basically no 1 drops (Fog is not a turn 1 spell), you might as well run some 1 drop ramp. I keep forgetting how expensive Noble Hierarch has gotten (used to be cheap-ish), but you could easily just run Utopia Sprawl, Avacyn's Pilgrim or some other green common to help you ramp into your bigger spells.
-I forgot about the art on Stonewood Invocation. That is a nice find! Very strong card in casual, if your deck can generate much mana. I'd try to squeeze that in.
Re Brass Herald: It's just that it's expensive. Most tribal decks don't run the Ringleader effect under 30 tribal cards, especially not under 20. I suppose it still does something in this deck. The question is whether that "something" is worth 3 mana more than Adaptive Automaton, and I'd argue probably not.
Re: Dead-Iron Sledge.
It's much better than Loxodon when equipped on Prized Unicorn and friends (i.e. reusable 1-sided Wrath), even more useful than something like Basilisk Collar (don't need to assign damage to each blocker) or Venom (doesn't die when creature dies). I assume that's its purpose in the deck. I'm actually on board with that, as its one of the few ways Unicorns.dec can interact with the board at all other than disenchanting stuff.
Too lazy to cut a card. Anyway, that's an idea. Basically you add some cards to help you ramp and find equipment (also giving greater value from turn 1). Then your combat plan is to wipe the board with Thicket Basilisk+Lure while your other Squires go beatdown bearing Behemoth Sledge and/or pumped by Door.
Sorry to res here. Just got the cards so I figured id tell yall how it ran. The deck runs pretty decently fast. I rofl stomped my first match and screwed myself the second etc. Problems ive run into. The biggest would be flying. If they have much if any flying I get wrecked. The second and a little less is the fact that dense foliage is blocking my journey to nowhere. Im thinking of a couple options. Possibly dropping dense foliage for Spidersilk Armor or dropping journey for o ring. Id rather keep dense foliage as it helps a lot. Maybe drop journey for spidersilk? Below is my exact deck list
If you're playing green, why not just kill most flyers with Raking Canopy? Then you can Journey or O-Ring the few bombs that need permanent removing instead of having to waste either spot removal or Reach-granting to deal with flying weenies.

Here's what ive got so far
3x Opaline Unicorn
4x Pearled Unicorn
3x Ronom Unicorn
4x Benevolent Unicorn
4x Regal Unicorn
4x Pacifism
3x Levitation
4x Cloak of Mists
4x Cancel
4x Door of Destinies
2x Coat of Arms
Now several things. First off I need something to get some card draw in order to get my doors and coats on the field. I think I would play Revered Unicorn instead of Pearled Unicorn. It's just so bad.

Anyway, this makes me lean towards green over blue.
Also, for crazy flavour and actual deck synergy:
Reins of the Vinesteed
Since you have no 1 drops, turn 1 is a good time for ramp. So maybe something like this:
4 Noble Hierarch
4 Utopia Sprawl
//Unicorns: 20
4 Ronom Unicorn
4 Benevolent Unicorn
2 Capashen Unicorn
4 Mirror Entity
3 Noble Quarry
3 Chameleon Colossus
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Door of Destinies
2 Sylvan Library
//Lands: 22
1 Gavony Township
2 Stirring Wildwood
10 Forest
4 Sunpetal Grove
4 Windswept Heath
1 Plains
Anyway, that's pretty far from your original list, so may not at all be what you want. But it's an idea of one way to run Unicorns FTW.

I wanted to make a unicorn deck little bit ago and here is what I came up with. Needs a few cuts and lands. Abuses the must block clause.
1 Angel's Feather
3 Dead-Iron Sledge
//Artifact Creature (4)
4 Opaline Unicorn
//Creature (22)
4 Benevolent Unicorn
4 Prized Unicorn
4 Regal Unicorn
4 Revered Unicorn
4 Ronom Unicorn
1 Wishmonger
1 Zebra Unicorn
2 Venom
//Enchantment Creature (4)
4 Noble Quarry
//Instant (5)
2 Fog
1 Gaze of the Gorgon
1 Stonewood Invocation
1 Withstand Death
1 Dawnglow Infusion
1 Overrun
1 Overwhelming Stampede
Although I'm pretty sure just any overrun will suffice. Death by unicorns.
The Unidentified Fantastic Flying Girl.
EDH
Xenagos, the God of Stompy
The Gitrog Monster: Oppressive Value.
Marchesa, Marionette Master - Undying Robots
Yuriko, the Hydra Omnivore
I make dolls as a hobby.
I like noble quarry and adaptive but adaptive is a little more than I want to spend per card atm
im going to add brass herald, journey, and loxodon warhammer for sure
Heres what im thinking
3x Brass Herald
3x Benevolent Unicorn
3x Ronom Unicorn
3x Capashen Unicorn
3x Noble Quarry
3x Prized Unicorn
2x Opaline Unicorn
4x Journey To Nowhere
3x Dense Foliage
2x Fog
Artifacts: 9
4x Door of Destinies
2x Coat of Arms
3x Dead-Iron Sledge
4x Krosan Verge
4x Selesnya Sanctuary
4x Blossoming Sands
5x Plains
3x Forest
Any thoughts on this? Id like to work in Spear of heliod x 2 and bow of nylea x1 or x2

So you're saying you wouldn't count this as a Unicorns deck??
4 Cavern of Souls
4 Mutavault
3 Wooded Foothills
3 Windswept Heath
2 Stomping Ground
2 Temple Garden
2 Sacred Foundry
2 Primal Beyond
1 Swarmyard
4 Woodland Changeling
4 Fire-Belly Changeling
4 Taurean Mauler
4 Aven Changeling
3 Mirror Entity
4 Chameleon Colossus
2 Soulcatchers' Aerie
4 Crucible of Fire
1 Timber Protector
//Spells: 7
4 Swords to Plowshares
3 Oblivion Ring
But there are 27 Unicorns!'

3x Gorgon's Head
2x Spear of Heliod
4x Krosan Verge
4x Selesnya Sanctuary
4x Blossoming Sands
5x Plains
3x Forest
