Hey all, I used to be a MtG player back in the Alpha - Revised days. Unfortunately my Alpha cards are long gone, but I do have a couple shoeboxes worth of Revised cards I dug up, as well as a couple of pre-built decks I bought at some point in the somewhat recent years.
I am looking into getting into playing again casually, and was looking at some pre-con decks off ebay. Would anyone mind sounding off on these?
Okay, first thing, yes, I know these decks are overpriced, and I already have plenty of land. I can put these three together buying individual cards online for about 30 bucks...not bad.
I'd love your input on those decks. Keeping in mind, this is for casual play, so if one of my friends with the 500 dollar decks whips the snot out of me, that's just the way it is.
Oh yes, the prebuilt decks I already have are from the Kamigawa series:
Ninjutsu
Snake's Path
Spiritcraft
Way of the Warrior
Do you think those preconstructed decks I have from this series are about as evenly powered as the 3 decks I linked above?
How would you beef up any of these decks for not a lot of money?
I have a Blue control deck I found I started working on years ago, once I break it down I will type out what all I have in it. IMO it's pretty great and sneaky, but you all seem to be seasoned vets here and it's probably crap to you all LOL.
Essentially I'm trying to get some good/decent themed or tribal decks together for as cheaply as I can. I guess something that matches the power level of the Kamigawa decks so any friends or family I throw a deck at has about the same chance.
Okay,

If you look in my sig I have a zombie deck In there. It isn't really cheap but it could give you some ideas. What do you mean by cheap anyway? do you have a dollar amount per card in mind?
I noticed I got a warning for soliciting earlier, by posting those ebay links. I don't have any affiilation wtih that seller, and I actually am not recommending going through places like that since you can buy the cards individually for cheaper!
Welcome to the forums. Please use the Deck icon, located on the toolbar of the comment box, to tag your deck. It'll make it easier for others to comment on your deck.
Deck building has never really been my strength though, and the deck I'm really interested in, the Black/Red Tribal Minotaur would only cost me about $9.50 to put together if I bought individually, considering I have more than enough land.
Honestly I've been away so long, this has gotten infinitely complex heh
edit: I'm actually going to look more closely at one of these Peasant mono black control decks, since it looks like I already have 80% of the cards.
But still....playing with a Minotaur deck theme seems really cool LOL
Between Warcallers and Rageblood Shamans, you have a lot of ways to pump up your guys.
Didgeridoo helps:
-accelerate out the 10 minotaurs that cost more than 3 mana
-helps smooth your colored mana requirements when casting any minotaur
-play a controlling role, keeping mana open all the time so you can Lightning or Doom Blade things if need be (or just threaten to), then put your Minotaur into play at end of opponent's turn
-combat tricks, flashing in Rageblood Shaman to grow your blockers or Petrefier to give them deathtouch. even the threat of this might scare the opponent off from attacking, since he never knows what might come when you play the Didgeridoo
If you have more budget to spare, some natural improvements are:
-Lightning Bolt instead of Burst Lightning. Bolt is just the best burn spell ever printed. Efficient and effective.
-Boros Reckoner. This is maybe the best Minotaur creature ever printed. The triple red mana cost is a little tough, but Didgeridoo makes this much easier to play. Also, the triple red mana adds devotion to make Fanatic of Mogis that much better.
If you want to troll people, you should get some Anaba Shaman and then go crazy blowing up the board after they get deathtouch from Felhide Petrefier.

-ThatRedwood
20 Island
2 Vesuvan Doppleganger
1 Voladlian Serpent
1 Kukemssa Serpent
2 Dandan
2 Tidal Warrior
1 Thornwind Faeries
4 Prodigal Sorcerer
2 Erosion
4 Errant Minion
4 Twiddle
4 Psychic Venom
4 Phantasmal Terrain
4 Counterspell
2 Boomerang
2 Fishliver Oil
Seems like my Psychic Venom themed deck lost its way here.
I may need to drop this whole Phantasmal Terrain / Islandwalk attempt here, and just focus on some good flying creaters and bump up my land.
Thoughts?

Maybe you can use cards like Opposition, Curse of Inertia or Hidden Strings to get taps for Psychic Venom. Perhaps use these in tandem with small/evasive creatures like Pestermite.
If you are using Phantasmal Terrain to turn on Islandwalk, you can try Spreading Seas instead. Spreading Seas draws a card so it can be used to cycle at worst.
