Hi! I am new to to this game and I would like some help to create a decent deck (if possible) with these cards. I know it's not much, but is the best that I could start with. In time I'll grow to greener pastures, but for now, I hope this will suffice. Thank you for your time.
from what I know of extended in my past and now modern it will be tough but I will get to work and try and get you some sort of in your face deck. I can build you a deck of you gave me some cash to work with as well. How much could you spare in the next couple weeks do you think? $20/30/40/50?
I appreciate your offering, but unfortunatley I cannot spare any sum right now, or in the future, for reason that are personal. Thank you for your time tho.
Yeesh. Hard to be make a deck out of that. You're much of the way to a kuldotha red deck with the 2 signal pests and the removal. Unfortunately, you're missing 4 kuldotha rebirth, 2 more memnites, and 4 ornithopters to make it a viable option. By the same token, you could almost do a red/black bloodthirst deck with the fireslingers and stormblood berserkers. You might be able to get away with a mix of the two, sticking to mostly red splash black for doom blade and go for the throat as direct creature kill.
I think I would concentrate on as early a curve as possible, with memnite, signal pest, fireslinger, stormblood berserker, even duskhunter bat (a 1/1 flier for 2 is pretty meh. if you get bloodthirst off, it's solid though), even phyrexian revoker and run the shock, galvanic blast (burn is burn, bad or not), incinerate, go for the throat, and doom blades. Essentially, every early powered drop you have at cmc 1 and 2, with the right land ratios to support them. If you have slots left after this (think 22 lands), then you can run necrogen scudder, manic vandal (not great, but being able to blow up an artifact of an opponent and have a creature out of it can be relevant at times).
If still you have slots after that, then maybe the flameblast dragon or the steel hellkite. In any kind of regular deck, I wouldn't recommend it, but they are bolt proof, fun, and will at least give you end game presence if nothing else. I hate to say it, but your early game presence isn't going to be good :/ .
Thank you very much for all the feedback weltkrieg. It's ok, I understand that my early game precence it's going to be poor, almost mediocre at best, but it's a start. The good thing, as you mentioned is that I can go two ways with this: Craft a Kuldotha red deck, or, go red/black bloodthirst (I'm personally inclined to this one, or anything red/black).
But anyway, thank you so much for this, now I have an idea where to start, and where to go from there. Just a couple of quick questions though:
Which one of the two would be best?
What other red/black would you recommend?
K, this is highly subjective and really depends on what you want to accomplish with the deck (deck design for casual can be so personal and subjective and metagame-dependent), but here's a crack at an RB aggro shell I see:
I basically built this like I would build an aggro curve for a Limited deck, since the cardpool you're working with is not that much deeper than what you would have in a Limited environment. I definitely had to reach to some sub-par options to fill out 60 cards, but I think you can at least create a deck that functions and can give you some fun games against friends with decks on a similar level.
The basic idea is to flood the board early with efficient evasive creatures and milk Bloodthirst for value. You can trigger Bloodthirst either using your unblockable or flying guys, using Goblin Fireslinger's ability, or using direct damage like Shock. That makes it pretty consistent for you to get the full bonuses. Then, your goal is to deal them as much damage as possible as quickly as possible with threats that are difficult for them to block. You have a lot of creature removal spells to clear their board of their early threats so you don't have to worry about playing defense while your whole team keeps attacking. Tectonic Rift is normally an awful card, but it does give you some value as a finisher, allowing you to get one final attack in unblocked for the kill.
Ideally you should try to expand your card collection so you can build a more powerful deck. If buying more cards is an option, it would be helpful to know what kind of budget you're on or what kind of purchases you would consider. For now, good luck and have fun!
