Deadbridge Chant 4BG
Enchantment
When Deadbridge Chant enters the battlefield, put the top ten cards of your library into your graveyard.
At the beginning of your upkeep, choose a card at random in your graveyard. If it's a creature card, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand.
I have loved this card since I saw it, yet haven't found a way to break it that doesn't lead me to removing it from the deck in favor of better cards. So I lay this challenge before your collective minds and hope that the results are better than my own. Good Luck!
yeaaaassss! I love this card too. it's currently a 1 of in my GWB bomb deck.
Because I like singletons, I'll add a single Stitch Together. it'll grab something cheap if we need it, or better yet, put that badboy right into play. the double black cost doesn't matter because we probably have it by the time we have things in the yard. I can't wait to see what other fun things we do, like oversold cemetary for cheap guys, or Beacon of Unrest for our fatties!
Well the goal is to cast a six drop, so I want to add some sort of ramp, Birds of Paradise or Deathrite Shaman come to mind. Deathrite requires some setup, but it seems better to me here since it can make the random aspect far less random, so I'll add 4 of those.
SELVAXRI! King of Misfortune & Master of Rocket Launchers "Do ya feel lucky? Because you'd better start runnin' while you still can." 375 Misfortune {+3 signed AP's} & 104 Rocket Launcher (41 AQ/ 63 Rev) Edgar Rice Burroughs, forgotten legend of the word.
I think a very important factor for our deck will be adding ramp that has very little chance of making it to the graveyard. Creatures don't fit into that category, in my opinion. We could be using enchantments (Utopia Sprawl), artifacts (Sol Ring), or really awesome lands (Ancient Tomb), which are harder to remove.
Another important factor is how we can control what is returned to our hand/play. I think we need a way to return cards to our library or just exile them in order to reduce the randomness of what is returned with chant. Deathrite Shaman is a step in the right direction, but we need something a little more general (and less easy to remove). Withered Wretch is an interesting option, even simpler would be Relic of Progenitus, allowing you to target yourself with the ability to remove cards you don't want to see again. Coupled with Shaman, this should give us a decent control on what we return. I'll add two Relics. It'll also be a good card to have in case we don't like any of the cards in our graveyard, or if we absolutely need to get back a card that's about to hit the grave, we can respond by exiling our graveyard.
If we are going to add more cards to do stuff with our graveyard, we should have another way of putting cards into the graveyard. Adding 3 Hermit Druid.
instead of exiling our graveyard with Relic of Progenitus, why not make use of various graveyard recylcers? Adding 2 Krosan Reclamation, if it gets dumped by the Bridge, we can flash it back and leave us with seven cards- rather than ten.
Krosan Reclamation is actually a rather weak card. I had considered it, but just 5 cards out of the way for 4 mana was too inefficient. I'm going to vote to remove them. I can't believe I missed Loaming Shaman, though!
However, we're already at 51 cards, and we only have two fatties and conditional ramp. There are a couple ways to easily ramp us to 6 mana. Heartbeat of Spring, Thran Dynamo, Market Festival all pretty much guarantee that we get 6 mana the following turn. We could also go for just a lot of small ramp. I'm going to add 4 Heartbeat of Spring. Although our opponent can use it first, chances are that with our fatties, we'll be able to use the mana a lot better than they will anyways. I guess we could always just use Rituals as well. Lots of options!
The most reasonable answer is actually just to play delve cards instead of bad ones.
I don't know how delve never clicked for me! Murderous Cut could be useful.
Do not forget that whatever doesn't get put onto the battlefield gets put into our hand, so this could lead to some instants and sorceries getting returned for a finishing blow. Exsanguinate and others like it could work with the dump and return strategy and seems a good fit next to heartbeat of spring!
A toolbox idea just formed with this card...
voting out ichorid, there are many better options for a 4 drop imo. it ends up eating up other cards, and that isn't worth it. disciple of bolas for example is a better 4 drop for what it gives, even if it eats a card.
i also really hate the idea of spending so many card slots to take things out of the grave. deathrite shaman and scavenging ooze are strong enough, maybe withered wretch instead, lets put more removal in our deck and let those be returned to our hand. doesn't always have to be a creature (see spoiler below for more ideas).
I'm adding 4 grisly salvage because it's ramp, conditional tutor, and threshold enabler. GB yard deck? don't leave home without your grisly salvage
i've got a GWB deck that functions really well for this setup. tons of 3 and less costed removal to stall out until I can fill grave and recur, or just flat out hardcast the fatties.
Okay, people aren't liking what i've been adding- so let's add something that complete plays with the Bridge: Buried Alive. Why not shove creatures into our graveyard, to be fished out when we get the Bridge out? adding 4, because if we manage to clear the junk we'll have a prime selection.
SELVAXRI! King of Misfortune & Master of Rocket Launchers "Do ya feel lucky? Because you'd better start runnin' while you still can." 375 Misfortune {+3 signed AP's} & 104 Rocket Launcher (41 AQ/ 63 Rev) Edgar Rice Burroughs, forgotten legend of the word.
i feel like barishi, rooting kavu, anurid scavenger and battlefield scrounger, all undo what is awesome about deadbridge chant. they remove the creatures to be pulled back to the field with chant... those suggestions make no sense to me unless we were trying to get ONLY non creature spells back to our hands.
Okay, I'm going to start adding fatties. I'll start with two Sheoldred, Whispering One. The body's not impressive, but the ability should be quite relevant for the deck.
Are there any other 6-drops or 7-drops worth using? They would fit perfectly when curving out with Heartbeat.
I'm also going to vote out Ichorid. Looks like we might not have enough black creatures anyways.
Adding 4 Wurmcoil Engine. We need to actually close out games and get maximum mileage out of our creatures. This guy wrecks absolute face if you can keep recurring him. As it stands now, most of our Deadbridge Chant targets are just cheap utility creatures which definitely doesn't help us actually win. Voting out Krosan Reclamation as well, would rather have a delver or just use the creature-based options we've already added.
Finishing off Ichorid and Krosan Reclamation so we can reclaim those spots quickly for more synergistic options. Saffi is not gonna make the cut, sadly. She isn't very helpful when Deadbridge is out, which should be almost every game.
I would like to vote out Grisly Salvage. With two enchantments that we need to see at least one of, I think Commune with the Gods could be a better option. If Salvage gets voted out, I will add them. Until then, Massacre Wurm gets a one of spot.
Also, what about Elixir of Immortality over Relic? The life gain and reclaiming could be more useful than just outright getting rid of everything.

Barishi and Rooting Kavu were a joke. yes, total opposite of what we want to do.
The Scavenger and Scrounger do what we want- to clear the graveyard of spell, enchantments, artifacts, and lands which can't be rezzed by the Bridge.
The scrounger can pump itself with the runoff from the bridge and the Anurid can resolve before the bridge to better the odds of getting something we want.
Ya'know what? Before I start sound mean and condescending, i'm going to walk away for the deck. see ya'll next round.
Rabid, you can nix me from the dice roll if/when this one gets finished.
I like Relic for its flexibility. You can exile all graveyards to get a fresh start for Chant, or you can remove things every turn that you know you'll never need (like lands, for example). This can even be done at instant speed, giving you the ability to get back any one spell you want just by sacrificing Relic in response to it hitting the graveyard.
I'll concure with the removal of Saffi and Salvage. We want creatures to hit the yard fast, and the rest to stay in the library to be removed. I'd much rather play a tutor than these cards.
The Scavenger and Scrounger do what we want- to clear the graveyard of spell, enchantments, artifacts, and lands which can't be rezzed by the Bridge.

commune with the gods is pretty sweet, but doesn't act as ramp, however it does retain its value once the chant is out because we'll have good mana then and can grab creatures if we want or dump all the creatures. I could see it being played in place of grisly
Relic is too destructive in my opinion. it's best to remove just the cards that you want to, with something like a Withered Wretch. but honestly, it's probably better to just put removal package in the deck than much ramp. that way you clear the board while you build up mana for chant, and then potentially get that removal back to keep it clear for the creatures that do get 'rezzed', or since we have so much mana (6) to cast chant, we probably have enough to cast some of the larger creatures at that point in the game.
Grisly Salvage can't exactly be called ramp, as all it does is (possibly) help us get a land drop. While that ability isn't negligable, it's not really helping us get to six mana faster. So, in a way, Mulch is a much more effective card than Grisly Salvage, for what we want it to do. Considering that our important cards for now are mostly enchantments that Grisly can't get, I can see why we'd want Commune instead. Why not just run a couple tutors though?
I decided to add Heartbeat because of how little deck space it took to ramp us to 6 mana. for a measly 4 spaces and at only three mana, it only has one glaring disadvantage that we can easily work around. I think the direction is going well.
I'm going to add 2 Shriekmaws to start working on the removal package. We still need at least a couple more good fatties though, to make this deck tick.
