Ok I have to give credit where credit is due. Zeromd posted this combo elsewhere and now I could use help building a cheap deck (probably won't be able to play it very often) around the combos. First combo uses Liquimetal Coating to turn an opponents land into an artifact then you use Splinter on that land. Second combo you use Animate Land on an opponents land then use Eradicate on it. Either combo or both works for me but I could use help building a deck around this.
*edit* thanks Zeromd for posting this killer combo and motivating me*
Would running the Devoted Druid + Quillspike combo in this deck be feasable? I'm thinking extra nasty and cheap on this deck lol.
Hahaha this johnny deck looks like it's going to be awesome. I have no advice, other than if you are on a budget I'd add Transmute guys.
A budget BG deck I would make for this would be:
- Use both combos for best chance of find either, as I don't have access to great tutors in blue or black
- Dimir House Guard, to transmute into Splinter or Eradicate (depending which other combo piece you have).
- Duress for early game to remove anything that would stop the combo
- Infest for early game reset against aggressive decks
- Wayfarer's Bauble and Sakura Tribe-Elder for mana fixing and ramp.
- After the combo sets off I would repeat the combo to kill off the remaining lands. Kill his remaining creatures with the black stuff. He probably won't have many lands left, if at all so you can just stall until you find your few creatures and plink him to death.
The unfortunate thing about this deck is that a single Spell Pierce could ruin the whole thing. If my hand was forced I guess I would go UG with counterspells replacing the black cards. The above deck has no rares in it either, quite cheap.

The problem I see this deck having is one against aggro - because Splinter/Eradicate don't come online until turn 4 (without ramp) your opponent will optimally have 3-4 lands in play which, if they're playing an aggro deck, is more than enough. Effects like Fog or walls like Overgrown Battlement etc will help you immensely.
Same. Also, your username got me in the hopes that maybe, just maybe, he'd come to pay us a visit, then you made a very slight error in judgment, and my dreams were crushed
Also, I'm always glad to see more Liquimetal uses emerging~ I play a Liquimetal Control deck for standard (Currently top player at my LGS ~(^.^)~ which is nice.) and, though I will admit to it being refined and such, and my meta just not being used to it, Liquimetal Coating is a HIGHLY underrated card @__@ Sadly, I have been warned that if I bring it this week, I will be facing artifact hate like nothing else I've seen before =(
Looks like U/R Infect will have to do it <w<
Meantime, everyone, go make this LD deck, love it, hug it, and thank zeromd/Last Laugh

Currently Getting Back into the swing of MTGS. Bear with me folks~
She's expensive, but what about Jolrael, Empress of Beasts? It'd give you something to do with all those extra copies of your combo cards. It could also be win condition with all your lands made into 3/3's and walloping your opponent.
I didn't have access to the internet these last few days, so sorry I let the thread die. Thanks for the replies. Over my weekend I started looking at cards I had personally. I went G/W with the deck, mainly so I can have my 2 copies of Enlightened Tutor in the deck. Here's what the deck looks like now. Still wanting feedback, I've gotten good advice I just wasn't around to get it in time lol. I'm personally liking U/G and transmuting.... I'm having to share my enlightened tutors between 2 decks and I think I'd almost rather Muddle the Mixture and transmute. Here's what it looks like G/W though.
Lol I have this deck posted on the official magic boards and here. I had someone here and there suggest transmuting but B didn't offer a 2 cost to transmute directly to liquimetal coating whereas U does. So W/G or U/G?

Terravore counts lands in graveyards, thus him paired with Splinter or Eradicate would be useless.
