Hi, my name is Kain, I have been playing since Revised edition (that must be like 22 or 23 years now) and I pretty much always played multiplayer. I ended up having 35 decks after all these years. Some of them aged well, some others came to a dead end. I thought I would post some of my more problematic decks to see if you guys can find a way to give them a second life.
Basically, I play multiplayer games including 4 to 7 people. Rarely i play games of 3 people, even more rarely I play duels. There is usually a decent amount of creature-removal in these games so creature who dont have a decent come into play or leave play effect tend to be disapointing (Baneslayer angel was such a disapointment ! =().
So, let's get this started. I will post one of my worst decks on this thread every now and then and see what you guys can suggest to help me improve it. Thanks in advance for your help.
Basically, this deck is trying to use Leaf-Crowned Elder and Descendants' Path with cards that can arrange the top of my deck for me. The reason why this deck fails is that it eventually dies to a Wrath of god-like effect...despite the Ghostway and Steely resolve that i put in there and I spend the rest of the game watching others play without being able to do much.
I feel that this deck is at a dead end and I am close to breaking it appart...can you think of a way to make it work ? ...thanks for your help.
I'd think some serious graveyard usage might help.
From the more expensive Yawgmoth's Will to the cheap Nezumi Graverobber.
Or those that are very resilient like:
Thanks a lot for all the suggestions and for the time you took to look at my deck. I did play Timber protector I while ago...I dont remember exactly why I removed it though, it would be interesting for me to put a playset back in the deck and try to get 2 in play with a Steely Resolve.
Lurking Predator fits the theme of this deck very well...I think I will add two to the deck
I dont play enough forests (6 total) for Reach of Branches to be interesting though =/
I like your point of view on Syphon mind...I already use this great card in another deck and I'll keep it in mind.
Yawgmoth's will, Nezumi Graverobber, Genesis all cost a lot of mana or take a long time before being real effective and this deck isnt very good at generating tons of mana.
[card]Recurring nightmare[card] doesnt really fit with this deck since I dont have many creatures I would want to sacrifice or many impressive come into play effects.
Phyrexian Reclamation will cost me life and I dont have that much to spare..i'd rather try to find something that fits with the mechanics that I already have in the deck.
Volrath's stronghold is interesting since it fits with the Leaf-Crowned Elder's ability...I'd like to try one or two in the deck but I hate the fact that it got so expensive since I got rid of my last one =(
Looking at your suggestions had me think that I could try to abuse the "Miracle" ability of some cards like Banishing Stroke and Terminus
Thanks for the suggestions, feel free to suggest more ideas...I will post another deck soon.
Here is another deck...it's a White/Green/Red deck that is missing something. The deck can defend itself and cause some damage but it will rarely be impressive or a real threat in normal games.

These keep on helping where cards like Ghostway help only once.
Does this help?
Are you looking for more or other advice?
My meta: 3 or 4 player free for all, anything goes but boring games or broken decks cause a vote to end that game.

Sadly, Weatherseed treefolk doesnt fit well with Doran, the siege tower which makes it weaker.

The Cauldron of Souls are there to try to abuse the many come into play abilities. The Frontier Siege are there for mana. Wickerbough Elder fits with Cauldron of Souls to repeat it's ability and prevent it from dying.
