Progenitus doesn't have protection from Lighters
Thank you for Kennethwong, for inspiring me to do this sig pic when I was bored.
GENERATION 15: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig and add 1 to the generation. social experiment.
Just one little nitbit detail I noticed: In the R, b/g decklist, it states that the life side of life//death side can turn your lands into creatures and create infinite combat steps with Hellkite Charger.
This doesn't work as the charger specifically states attacking creatures get to untap. This means that if you tap your creature lands for mana to pay for charger's ability, then they won't be attacking and therefore won't untap when the ability resolves.
It hits Bloodbraid Elf, Putrid Leech, and the nastier RDW/Bushwacker hands. But otherwise Pyroclasm is an fine maindeck, especially if you have mana problems.
My friend and I discussed tribal Dragon decks quite some time ago and he recommended me this, I've just rediscovered and tried to update it:
The idea was to do away with anything with cmc >6 or requires splashing so that you can still play your creatures if something goes wrong (which kept happening with Dragonstorm D: ). This was pre-Alara though, Broodmate Dragon might change things. I've half-assedly removed the reanimator package and fitted in sweepers, but the curve is still quite high, any suggestions?
if youre running pyroclasm, why on earth would you not run volcanic fallout. and if you're already beating face with dragons, you want to deal damage to players.
the point of magic is not to kill an opponents creatures, but rather to kill the opponent himself.
Yeah, this is not really what sweepers are for. The two-damage to the opponent is negligible, as is the counter effect, depending on your meta. The advantage here is that it's instant speed, which is very useful for taking out Putrid Leech in response to pump, or Bloodbraid Elf and possibly whatever it cascades into. These are big threats in standard, as Jund aggro is pretty big right now (depending on your meta, of course).
However, if you don't need instant speed removal, then Pyroclasm is definitely okay to maindeck. The fact that it costs one less and doesn't require RR means it's a lot easier to cast in multi-colored decks.
If you're running a dragon deck, I think it's safe to say you will be dealing significant damage to the opponent, so you don't need to rely on that 2 damage from fallout.
@ Stubborn boy
I presume this is casual so the format does not matter? As stated earlier Dragonspeaker Shaman is an amazing card for dragon tribal.
@ Meteorainer
Yes i understand, itopher is one of the regular players in our metagame and we all play fast aggro, if he had that instant speed he would be able to stunt and dislodge alot of attacks. I was merely stating that volcanic fallout is a better card than pyroclasm in standard, but of course it is perfectly fine to run pyroclasm instead.
Thanks, but that was the card I was trying to avoid. No synergy with Bladewing's Thrall is my main gripe.
I'm thinking -3 Chain of Smog for +2 Buried Alive and +1 Dread Return, allowing me to pitch the Thralls instead of hardcasting them one by one. But the Chain is just cool, being disruption and discard outlet.
This is a deck I used to run way back in the Onslaught block. The build below is pretty casual, I kept it like that so I could use it in my playgroup (at the time, no one really had any tournament level decks). Obviously, it could be updated and pumped up with newer/older cards (this was my T2 deck at the time).
In this form, it was only T4 kills at earliest (Entomb Anger on T1, Buried Alive Bladewing, Thrall, and then either Tyrant or Kilmouth depending on hand, then Zombify for the win T4). It's psuedo Reanimator deck style, but I figured the fact that it's built entirely on a dragon assault made it viable for this thread. I'd love to see it updated for even more shenanigans.

Nice catch on Bladewing's Thrall and Dread Return, permanent fodder for Dread usage while reviving Dragons, also a free 3/3 flyer.
I think it's a nice move dropping Chain of Smog for Buried Alive and Dread Return (i'd use 3 of each).
Since you're using Tarox, Bladewing, Thralls and Dread Return, have you thought about Restless Dreams?
If you're focusing on reanimation, red support is just filling some important slots, i think Lightning Bolt and Fallout must go.

"Now i lay you, down to rest, you'll never be more than second best" (Megadeth)
This list goes nuts for ramping to play my dragon's enormous abilities, or slam face with Banefire. My only concern is that there may be too much ramp and not enough early-game control.
I've been running dragon decks for years now, and my enabler of choice has always been Sneak Attack. It has always seemed busted to me to shove out a Dragon Tyrant for one red and then pump it with the rest of my red and smash face...
There is no sideboard as it's a multiplayer deck, but please feel free to crap all over, I mean constructively critisize this POS. Though I feel like I must pre-empt any advice about Skyshroud Elf, this dude is the house; he quickens me and his mana fixing capacity is unmatched. He's so good that he easily beats out Birds of Paradise.
Trace of Abundance is actually good ramp. I'd definately run Lightning Bolt in that ^ build. Whenever I'm playing red, It has to find it's way into my deck. To be fair, it's really good.
short, sweet and to the point. I like it. think its possible to exchange Fertile Ground with Trace of Abundance? and why is Search for Tomorrow better then Rampant Growth?
Edit: oh now i see why its fertile ground instead...silly me didn't even think of that.

Cause it's cheaper to cast. I believe I already addresed Trace, but the original deck poster felt it didn't have enough Synergy with Garruk Wildspeaker
Cause it's cheaper to cast. I believe I already addresed Trace, but the original deck poster felt it didn't have enough Synergy with Garruk Wildspeaker
how is it cheaper? cause of suspend? Ramp growth is a 2 cost that does the same thing. Suspend is 1 and you wait 2 turns, in which you could have gotten 2 lands out then played the card, suspend just makes you wait to play it rather then immediate. THough if you have it in there because you can suspend for one, wait two turns, it autoplays which save you from tapping mana, then that I can understand but to me suspend cards aren't worth the trouble.
With the Suspend, you have a first turn play, you don't have to agonize over Sakura-Tribe Elder or Rampant Growth turn two, and you have space free to run other two drops without messing up your curve.
And suspend is neat.
Yeah, the Fertile Ground is waaaay better than the Shroud one. It does the same job and allows for a Rewind (sans counter) effect on Garruk Wildspeaker.

for ramp in my monored i run bauble, sad sam and gauntlets. I use kiki jiki too since he makes more sams (which helps when Valakut is out.)
Zendikar was the set to make me want to play dragons, because of hellkite charger and Valakut. And of course we're getting Dragonmaster Outcast soon, but he may or may not fit in my deck. I've been doing fine with Dragon Roost so far since I make enough mana.
