One card not mentioned in this primer that is a centerpiece of my mono-green ramp/midrange/aggro deck is Hurricane. Not cards like Hurricane, but Hurricane itself. I use it in place of Overrun and the like, and its main role is the same as Overrun, as a finisher. I'd say between 1/3 and 1/2 of my games end with Hurricane. The key to Hurricane is that it deals X damage to your opponent, and for this reason I use it as a finishing move. It's the green Fireball. If I have more mana and more life than my opponent has life, he dies. This is a common situation. Hurricane has more overall utility than Overrun. In addition to being a finisher, Hurricane can also be used for its intended purpose in killing flyers, either threats or blockers. It also differs from Overrun in that it doesn't depend on me having creatures on the table. If I beat them down to single digits, a board wipe does not stop Hurricane.
Why is there so little love for Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary in this thread? Is there any reason you wouldn't run 4 of him in every single format that allowed it? I recently threw a 30/30 haste trample at my opponent on turn 3 largely because Rofellos is so good/broken.
Here are my decks, one is modern legal and one is legacy legal.
I did not realise this primer is a bit behind the times (not a lot) and not that active anymore.
Therefore for those reading I will add a few ramp cards this primer does not cover:
Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary 4.5/5
Amazing ramp, it is banned in most formats. But this is a casual primer so if you can take him, do. The only problems with him are:
- Legendary, so you might not want 4
- They should call him "Rofellos, Lightning Emissary" for all the attention he is going to get. Unlike your standard birds or elves, he will attract direct damage and quickly.
Omnath, Locus of Mana 5/5
Amazing ramp card. You can now save your green mana up! A few here and there can make all the difference next turn. Plus it buffs him which allows some early stabilisation. Only drawback is legendary. Again, a touch on the destructible side. Has the advantage of being very 'legal' too.
Khalni Heart Expedition 4/5
The most common way to ramp at the moment is utopia sprawl, overgrowth and combine with untap creatures like arbor elf. I have no doubt it is the best, but it also fragile. Ping a creature and you lose the combo. Destroy a land and you are probably going to lose. So for all the landfall/forest fetch decks out there, this card is fantastic. At 2 CMC it is allows nice early play. Although you won't see the lands for probably two turns, it is nice safe ramp.
Overgrowth 5/5
Not sure how this got missed in the original primer, but it is a killer. The combo of utopia sprawl and untap creatures will ramp you very fast.

4x Thragtusk
4x Genesis Hydra
4x Sakura-Tribe Elder
4x Kiora, Master of the Depths
Sorcery
4x Harmonize
any cheap changes i can make?
You could play Wild Growth over Verdant Haven/Fertile Ground as it starts ramping earlier. The deck is mostly G anyways and the color producing ability of Verdant Haven/Fertile Ground is only used to cast Kiora, Master of the Depths. Since you are already playing Sakura-Tribe Elder, you can just tutor up an Island when you need to produce U mana.
Also, there is Voyaging Satyr if you want another untapper.
Here are my decks, one is modern legal and one is legacy legal.
