I would reduce the overall amount of burn in red's arsenal a bit, so simply taking out a Spitting Earth and putting something not burn related in, maybe another goblin. That's the least, you should do, I think. Other than the Spitting Earth, it's not so much the type of removal but the amount.
After several tests I would now say you are pretty much correct on that. We'll work on a way to reduce it without weakening the deck too much.
Black received some more beaters... a second Nightmare, and 2 giant cockroach. Replacing 2 Revenant and a gravedigger.
Red added Crimson Hellkite to please the inner Timmy of some ^__^, and one Storm Shaman was removed for it. To compensate for the slowdown caused by hellkite, lava axe was taken out and pyrotechnics put back in again. Main plan is still the same, try to beat face with goblins early.. then try to win with the firebreathers - shaman, pyrosaur, and dragons in late game.
White is now quite strong. To balance it again, one Wrath of God taken out and replaced with Pacisfism.
Due the other decks becoming stronger, U cannot be a control deck anymore. Forced to change it into a simple Merfolk aggro. However, I don't have enough funds to buy the 2 lord of atlantis needed to make the change. U deck is currently on hiatus. Will be usable again once the cards needed are purchased. Opposition was tried in the deck, but proved too strong so it was not added.
Blue should probably be control; merfolk aggro is nowhere near as good. Add Counterspell if it is too weak, also instant speed card draw. Control is viable in Vintage, so it should be viable in casual.
Thanks, the new iteration of the U deck is almost finished. As you said, counterspells + instant speed draw is needed.
Anyway, as you can see in previous posts I have tried the control route a few times already with a bit of success. For now, will try the aggro route next.. if testings are bad I will go back to control.
Will report back in a week or two after we have done some testings.
game 1: lost when I tried blocking an elvish archer with two coral merfolk, he giant growth the archers and I never recovered from the 2 for 1.
game 2: won when I counter all the big guys and an elf lord + ping the one toughness creatures with prodigal sorcerer
game 3: he is mana screwed and I win easily
me using U vs cousin using W
game 1: I take 10 or 12 damage from a single knight errant before a group of merfolk overwhelmed him
game 2: countered a crucial wrath of god for the win. Told me he was trying to bait out counters with other things, so he could resolve the ***. My very last counterspell in hand went to the ***, he would have won if he had one more spell to bait out a counter.
well, ok I won but blue used to lose all the time.. so I guess buying the two lord of atlantis is worth it. Still need to do a few more tests if the power level of blue is just right against the other colors.
After several tests I would now say you are pretty much correct on that. We'll work on a way to reduce it without weakening the deck too much.
