I have started to put together my own deck built around Godhead of Awe. The main idea behind my deck is to use +1/+1 counters to keep my creatures big while my opponent's creatures get diminished. Some if not all of my creatures, due to having base power/toughness 0/0, will get even bigger, thus using the Godhead as a sort of Anthem effect. The Godhead puts me into either white or blue or both. But I have not found much to my tastes for the idea in blue, so white will be the main color. Green offers many 0/0 creatures with +1/+1 counters, so I turned toward white/green for the first draft. That's two out of three Abzan colors, so I had quite some options for +1/+1 counter based abilities, almost at sliver level. With WWWWW nessessary for the Godhead, I will keep to those two colors, at least for now, especially since my available w/g multilands, while quite plentiful, are mostly already in use in other decks. I scrounged together most of what is still unused. With my collection being mostly Modern legal, I will also stay within that format. Budget is not a big issue, but I won't invest small fortunes to aquire single cards. However, I do have quite the extensive collection, so some copies of more expensive cards may already be available.
So here is my first draft, obviously still full of holes, like missing artifact and enchantment removal (already dreading an opponent with Solemnity). But it is a starting point to get more ideas and some fine tuning. Suggestions and critique are welcome.
After some goldfishing, I really like the Scales interaction with graft and Daghatar. So much, that I want more. Couldn't find any more fitting graft creatures, but stumbled over my two copies of Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit, which should be close enough. And I really want some artifact/enchantment hate in the deck. I settled on Reclamation Sage, but could fit only two copies in at the moment. The cards I've cut are the three Tuskguard Captains, because after the goldfishes trample seems not really nessessary. I also cut a Prism, since it is mostly a cantrip, though the colorfixing is working nicely. With the number of dual lands in the deck it isn't strictly nessessary, though, so the other three copies are also likely to be replaced. I'll see.
I finally had the chance to test out the deck yesterday after a few more modifications (added a 23rd land, pulled a Godhead and a Bond-Kin as well as all the Prisms, added a third Sage and full set of Cauldron Haze). Though the opponent wasn't exactly the best choice as he is an avid tournament player who only brought tournament worthy decks for various formats to test against other such decks, but he didn't have a like minded opponent that day. Suffice it to say, I got stomped by his legacy combos and even his Standard aggro deck, but it was still quite interesting and I got to figure out some deficiencies of my deck (when I got past turn 3 with it).
The most crucial thing I recognized about my deck is that Monstrous Onslaught is way too slow for it. I need my removal to be cheaper, faster (=instant) and less relying on the board state. While Onslaught can in theory be a one-sided board wipe with the Godhead out, that happens way too late.
I want to be able to play Hardened Scales on turn 1 when I have it in my opening hand, so I need my lands to provide that mana on the first turn, which none of my duals can. Not a big deal, if I cannot make it happen, but still something to keep in mind. Maybe I can free a few of my Temple Gardens from other decks ...
I have cut trample in favor of flying, but there was a game, where the former would have made a hell of a difference. So maybe I can find some room for a Tuskguard Captain or two?
Cauldron Haze only showed up in two games, and it did spendidly. I still didn't win those games, but it twarted a Wrath of God, which is exactly the reason for which I put it in the deck in the first place.
Here's the version of the deck I played yesterday (it's 61 cards right now):
Yes, Monstrous Onslaught was intented to get rid of my opponent's creatures after the Godhead came down. That didn't work out so well, and doesn't seem that nessessary anymore either. After all, with first strike, flying and/or trample (if I can fit in some Tuskguard Captainss again), my creatures can do the wiping simply by attacking.
I have been pondering some of those fight cards already, others totally slipped my mind (like Savage Punch), so thanks for reminding me. Especially Mutant's Prey and Savage Stomp have caught my interest. Setessan Tactics could be brutal, hm ...

So, does anyone have some ideas for making it better?

I might have misunderstood Monstrous Onslaught's purpose, maybe to clear the entire enemy battlefield after a Godhead has resolved.
