Alright ladies and gents it comes to me to host the next installment of the GMAD series.

For my host I would like to submit See the Unwritten

I realize this is two green build arounds in a row but I hope this wont annoy too many of you out there. To be honest I was torn between this and Starfield of Nyx but I think I've wanted to build around this card for a longer period of time.

Ban List: I would like to keep this deck within the Modern ban list

Budget: I would like to keep this deck to no more than $7 per card. This is to avoid Ulamog dot Deck (as well as keep the budget down to something someone like me could actually hope to afford).

All GMAD Rules apply! Have fun!

Something like Swarm Intelligence could give us a good amount of recursion. This would let us dig 1/3 (ish) of our deck every cast.

Since this deck is so Mana intensive might I suggest 8 post?

For a deck built around lots of creatures, i think we should have some fun with said creatures. 4 Permeating Mass. it's a one-drop, so having a literal army of these guys turning whatever they hit into copies of themselves would be hilarious. Too bad Provoke isn't modern legal. :/ wait... THAT got reprinted?!

Im doing my best to allow this to keep this going without too much in the way of prodding but doesn't it seem a bit counter productive to ramp with creatures? If were gonna run see the unwritten we want a chance to hit BIG threats off of it....

Adding four Mistcutter Hydra, a haste/pro-blue critter? oh hells yes, since we can pump him to 5 for the "Ferocious" trigger, one can hope that we get some nice critters in this deck.

I was doing a bit of a search for modern creatures that would be cool to hit off of see the unwritten.

Engulfing Slagwurm
Giant Adephage
Moldgraft Monstrosity
Myojin of Life's Web

I really like Giant Adephage due to its flavor synergy with permeating mass. I also like Myojin of Life's Web for the ability to throw more creatures on board. That being said I'm going to add three Giant Adephage for the pure flavor. If we have drawn the board out into a bunch of permeating masses we can overrun theirs and keep beating in with our new copies

That is a pretty good point about Myojin. I guess its off the list. Still a cool creature for sure though. Without a dedicated ramp plan it would take far too long to make profitable

This might be a bit of a disliked ideal but I really think we need at least one more form of ramp in this deck. Thus, I am adding 4 Elvish Mystic

I would also like to point out that Craterhoof Beheamoth is technically over priced. However, at $11 ill let the one card slide

We need removal, Beast Within is apparently one of the best removal spells at our disposal. So, adding 2 because Desert Twister is way to expensive to cast and Creeping Mold is too restricted.

Ambuscade is a good spell in our deck with our high power creatures also cards like Prey Upon/Rabid Bite could work for removal

Plus Ambuscade has no downside compared to beast within

Hashep Oasis would be another decent land pump

yes... but do we want to clutter our mana base with deserts? Centaur Garden required Threshold, Heart of Yavimaya requires a forest-sac.
eh, adding 2 Heart of Yavimaya for easy buffs without taking other vital slots.

We could try to work in Raging Ravine for some triggers.

Desert non desert doesn't matter. It's a pump spell.

This issue is why I wanted to do a GMAD with this card. It is indeed a difficult build.

I'll second vote on Mistcutter Hydra as it doesn't work with see the unwritten

Putting a card in hand via eternal witness seems counter productive to trying to get creatures off of StU

Voting out Tangle Golem, it just doesn't do much. it's nice as a late drop for free thanks to it's Affinity but as a target for StU, we could do better.

Okay, a couple Tangle Golems can stay, if we get good ramp early, this guy could hit the field earlier. so, rescinding my vote to "Remove two"
Permeating Mass would have been funny, but it's not all that great in this deck. voting out all four.
Paleoloth with the Adephage would have proved entertaining with recursion, but making room and his ability is moot and situational. (voting out both)
Voting out an Adephage. Looking to trim, and i dislike 3-ofs.
Voting out the Caryatids- we have the Mystics.
Voting out two Crystal Balls- scrying is good when hoping to get full benefit from StU, but until we need it, it's probably not going to used.
Voting out Revivals. We have Witnesses, and we want to keep as many creatures as we can in preferance to StU.
