So I am putting together a new build. I've had the idea for a while but I only recently started trying to put it together. Its ultra budget and super janky. I'll post the deck list in a second but I want to know, what's the jankiest deck you ever built? What was the list? Did you play it and how did it go? Give us the deck tech while you are at it!
So obviously, the deck is based on big cmc spells, hence the jank. The fun part is if you can get out a Goggles, you can Volcanic Vision something like a Riddle as a board wipe. You can Goggles a Miracled Thunderous Wrath for tons of damage and things like that. There are ways to reduce the casting cost, sorta, scry, card draw and filtering, cheap removal-ish, etc. Probably not great but its probably going to be more multiplayer and a slower meta so its probably okay. I was thinking of adding Izzet Charm or Faithless Looting to try and get the lands we want and filter them out when we are done. I think Faithless Looting would be the best but I'm not sure.
So what are your Janky brews?

so... i REALLY wanted to build around Rakdos Riteknife but after a while of tinkering i still can't get it to a place that i'm happy. so this is the jankiest pile of crap i've ever made given the amount of time i've spent on it. which is too much time at this point.
the idea is free creatures using aether vial so i can spend all my mana on activating the riteknife. if this isn't working, just rush them. If i can get riteknife big enough, i can force them to hit some lands, and then i can get ahead. i wanted to be able to activate riteknife as early as possible, but it's just such an expensive process that it's really not worth it. not a build around card. more of a support card. UNLESS you can find me a way to make it great haha.
lol That's awesome. I am trying to build a Mogis, God of Slaughter EDH deck with Riteknife in it. I like the idea of using it in an Aristocrats shell (Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Viscera Seer) and then with a token subtheme (Dragon Fodder, Krenko's Command, Hordeling Outburst). For big swings you could add in Xathrid Slyblade which has hexproof to stop removal but can gain first strike to stop blockers. You could back it all up with Tymaret, the Murder King who be endlessly saccrificed, can turn your tokens into removal, and comes back easily enough that you will have a body to equip it to if you want to attack with the blade. Best part? The entire build would be under 3 cmc.

Drop Seahunter, use Artificial Evolution to make him fetch Eldrazi. Then activate for instant annhiliation! It's simple, yet fun. With each piece of the "combo" having something that fetches it easily, it's like running an 8&8. It is definitely jank, but very fun for casual. I ended up toning it down with 3 Pathrazers and 1 It That Betrays to stay more casual.
Edit: If I rebuilt it, I'd probably find a way to make it monoblue, add in some permission/protection, and switch to Leviathan (Inkwell Leviathan/Stormtide Leviathan). It seems more fun and balanced for casual.

Janky decks are awesome because you can do stuff like this! If you make find Leviathans, they look like fish, really big fish like you would tell a story about if you caught one. That makes it super flavorful! You could call the deck "bass master" lol

I once attempted to make a deck abusing Bearer of the Heavens and Gift of Immortality to make everything explode forever. It never really worked, but I might try it again sometime.
Before that, I tried to build around Pyxis of Pandemonium for casual multiplayer, but people kept blowing it up to stop me milling them.

I love any deck that runs Knowledge Pool! I once built a deck using that and Omen Machine and Wild Invocation too load up the Knowledge Pool with stuff and just like people cherry pick like 2 free spells a turn. It was crazy and people hated it lol. It didn't even really do anything all that powerful but people hate it when you screw with the spells they WANT to cast. A counter spell stops the spell but Knowledge Pool just changes it into a different card. They still get a card but they hate it more than a counter spell!

Lol, okay, let me if I'm understand this right. You "gift" your opponent a Sorrow's Path and then use your other cards to tap it on command to Shock them and Pyroclasm their board?

That's awesome. I just got done watching a YouTube video by The Mana Source where they did the top 10 worst cards ever printed in all time and Sorrow's Path was in their top 5 or so. The fact that you managed to make that a win condition is, clearly, jank lol.

I had a mono-black deck, built around Midnight Ritual and a bunch of 2-cc-or-less common black creatures and assorted amount of creature sacrifice.
turning a bunch of random weenies into a bunch of 2/2 Zombies? yea, not the best deck.
SELVAXRI! King of Misfortune & Master of Rocket Launchers "Do ya feel lucky? Because you'd better start runnin' while you still can." 375 Misfortune {+3 signed AP's} & 104 Rocket Launcher (41 AQ/ 63 Rev) Edgar Rice Burroughs, forgotten legend of the word.

By the way, if anyone has suggestions on how to use Necromancer's Stockpile and Corpseweft together in the same deck I'm down for suggestions. I was thinking maybe something with Lotleth Troll?
Also, the maniac bunny reminds me of an episode of Tiny Toons where Buster Bunny becomes a werewolf-bunny thing lol.

The whole POINT of the deck was to damage yourself by paying Phrexian Manna, down to Zero life (Phrexian Unlife keeps you alive), then tap the Soul Conduit for the win. I won a couple games with it, but it was fun. Only deck where you WANT to take damage. If you untap with that Soul Conduit out, its hard to lose.

The Midnight Ritual deck was built around the time it original came out, back in Mercadian Masques, and has long since been retired since suffering water damage. [Not to mention, i don't play or collect any more.]
I was running jank weenies like Misshapen Fiend, Squirming Mass, Ravenous Rats, et al. Probably the best two-drop was Skittering Skirge. Back in that era, there weren't many standard Zombies- and this was before WotC did multiple creature types in the Odyssey block, and WAY before WotC janked the system to Race/Class and errata everything in Mirrodin.
as for your idea- Conspiracy. Turns all your creatures to Zombies.

That reminds me of a friend of mines deck. He didn't do the Soul Conduit thing but what he did do was run Rage Extractors. It was neat because, while most of the Phyrexian mana cards/creatures are underwhelming, the extractors backed up by Lightnig Helix were shockingly good. He casts a lot of like Vault Skirge and that cycle and got his life back through Lightning Helix. It could do a large amount of damage once he got to the level of casting Molten Steel Dragon, which at 4 mana and 4 life is a steel and then upon ETB does 6-12 damage depending on how many Extractors he had on the field.

Skittering Skirge is my favorite kind of creature. Undercosted for the body but a big enough draw back that you'll think twice about playing it but not so big of a draw back that you would never consider it/couldn't find a way to abuse it.

I think Recurring Nightmare with Child of Alara would be more effective. Green Sun's Zenith can get the child into play easily in a nic fit shell.

You could redo that deck with Necromancer's Stockpile and Empty the Pits. It could actually be kind of cool with something like Risen Executioner and Vengeful Pharoah.
By the way, if anyone has suggestions on how to use Necromancer's Stockpile and Corpseweft together in the same deck I'm down for suggestions. I was thinking maybe something with Lotleth Troll?
