Check this deck out I just built it. I have been experimenting with alot of different Bird decks all Blue /White, so far this is the funnest back from the brink is nasty once you have it back and you can replay and sack for counters on the Aerie and then keep proliferating with thrummingbird. Grafted wargear beefs up your birds and makes it easy to get birds off the board for counters. I will fiddle with this for awhile I have a wierd obsession with birds I have 4 copies of just about all the White/Blue birds in magic there are alot of choices. I am going through now to see what I can do to add more problem solver birds and or/disruption removal. It would be nice to actually see a Bird deck be a little more competative, please send me any ideas that may be floating around, Thanks.
I haven't seen a Bird deck in a while, but I've got to say Thrummingbird + Soulcatcher's Aerie is a great idea. To that end I'd max out on both those, add more Soulcatcher and run a set of Squadron Hawk. After the Squadron, I think the best birds that aren't in your list are Augury Owl and Lieutenant Kirtar. Personally, I'd ditch the Wargear and toss in Skullclamp as the Clamp/Squadron Hawk synergy is way too much card advantage.
...not only is the total number of players expanding very quickly, but at the same time a greater and greater number of those players are being pushed to only desire a small subset of the available cards. These combined forces drastically increase demand for those cards and cause the values of just those specific cards to often balloon out of proportion.
I like the deck, but no storm crow... You'll leave him out and wish you hadn't...
Just picking on you...
I guess I'd mention a few of the other good birds that i know. Aven Brigadier= Bird lord Aven Mindcensor= Stops searches, good sideboard Crookclaw elder= Draw cards at instant speed.
ON A SOMEWHAT UNRELATED NOTE: I did make a tribal bird deck a short while ago, but I'm not done with it. I furthered the stipulation (for flavor reasons) to be only bird birds, no avens.
Basically it was an excuse to play storm crow as the flag ship of the deck.
Squadron Hawk and Stormscape Familiar make it possible to assemble a decent "flock" of flyers by turn 3-4. Play a Battle Screech or Emeria Angel and it won't be long before that flock becomes an intimidating army. Then things get out of hand really quickly once Gravitational Shift or Glorious Anthem hits your field. Soulcatchers' Aerie really makes opponents think twice about their Wrath of God/Damnation. And Mana Leaks work to stave off most threats. Sidenote: I occasionally switch out the mana leaks for Rune Snags depending on the kind of deck I'm up against, as it scales better into later game.
ever consider Welkin Hawk? it replaces itself, as opposed to cluttering up your hand like Squadron Hawk would.

It's not cluttering if you have Stormscape Familiar and Door of Destinies. The already mentioned Battle Screech is nuts if you have just a few counters on Door/Aerie and at least one other white creature.
I have used the clamps but my birds get to big and in turn I cannt sack on will. I love the 8ard advantage though its killer. I have also thrown in the Kangee feather token combo withe the other multi color bird I forget now its name. These cards slowed me down considerably. Your right about the teferis moat it is only meant to slow and take pressure off of my other big enchantment the aerie. O was using wrath of god for awhile. Just got board with it. I really like the back from the brink in the late game so I try to keep small cast birds so I can max that card out. I have put in mindshrieker just for fun but I need something to disrupt my opponent more. Does anyone like the blue bouncy bird from legions? I also do like the stormscape familiar to lower the brink casting cost. I really like the idea of a competative bird deck. It hasnt been done and there just has to be a way. I mean my deck isnt terrible but it is casual it needs a bit more bite so when spank the locals I enjoy the shocked look of "BIRDS? Your kidding. lol
Yes I like the Welkin Hawk better actually, I think your right about the hand clutter.
IMO Squadron Hawk is better, because most of the time they will choose to kill your other creatures or they'll just throw him a Path to Exile or something. An exception would be that you were playing Skullclamp or another sac engine, but even then I'm not sure.
I've been toying around with a bird deck in MWS and Gravitational Shift is brutal against creature decks. It's just perfect for this deck, since you play dozens of small flying creatures.
I don't like Mana Leak in this deck because we are playing a lot of 1 and 2 drops that have to be played early in the game, so we'll never be untapped the first turns. I'd play them in the sideboard though.
The deck is very good against creature based strategies, but terrible against spell based combos, so the sideboard is pointed towards that. Also it would be really nice to have a sac outlet to abuse the Soulcatcher Aeries better, but I want something playable in Legacy, and I still haven't found anything nearly as good as Skullclamp was in this deck, any ideas?

I like it! I have something going here as well all my birds and cards are everywhere! I was looking at Ashnod's Alter Carnage Altar and Culling Dias[CARD/]. I also like Tezzeret's Gambit to compliment the Thrumming Bird and the Aerie. I need 3 more Soulcatcher's. I usually buy from Troll and Toad but they haven't had any in a real long time if ever. I have looked at three notable shops recently as well with no luck. Do you have an opinion on Back from the Brink ? It's not to bad to cast after the Stormscapesand in the late game you just cycle through all the cheap creatures you previosly murdered lol.

Culling Dais sounds very good! It plays nicely with Thrumming Bird and Tezzeret's Gambit. That's an interesting approach, I'll toy around with that in MWS and tell you how it went
Back From the Brink seems a little too slow for this deck, you have to wait until turn 7 to get some value out of it, Gravitational Shift is already pushing the mana curve, but since it ends the game rather quickly when it hits the board it's ok. On the other side, this is a casual deck so it's perfectly fine if you want to play it, I don't think it's terrible either, and it seems quite good if you are playing a sac engine like Culling Dais, giving you a powerful late game. I wouldn't play more than 2 though.
No love for Dovescape? Or does Dovescape merit its own, different deck, despite creating birds?
Cheers!
I don't think this deck is the right home for Dovescape, it's too slow and it shines the most when you play high cmc noncreature spells. It wouldn't be too hot if you play Dovescape and then a Soulcatcher's Aerie, making 2 birds, and then your opponent plays something like Cruel Ultimatum and does 7 birds haha
Culling Dais was even better than I expected, it lets you replace your small birds when they get destroyed, you sacrifice them in response and add a counter to it, and later that counter becomes an additional card (or more, courtesy of Thrumming Bird), also you can chump block a bigger creature and sacrifice them in response not losing a lot. Also I added the 4th Soulcatcher since it plays well with the Culling Dais. So I had to cut 4 cards, I chose the single Kangee and the 3 Aven Mimeomancers because they were the cards that had less synergy with the Culling Dais, and now that we have a sac outlet, we have an additional way of pumping our birds so it isn't as necessary as before.
I had troubles to find space for Tezzeret's Gambit, it doesn't seems bad at all, but the deck is very tight.
The mana base is a little expensive, but you can easily replace it with another lands like Adarkar Wastes and Skycloud Expanse. The loss of Mutavault would hurt though.

I dumped the Kangee and Mimeomancer's as well. I like the Culling Dias alot!! The deck is tight I really wanted to get a touch of disruption in there trying to get some birds with abilities that I can sac but most are four mana :(. I put in Messenger Falcons ? So when they come in I get a card and when they leave I get a card. Do you not like Seaside Haven ? I am still running Raven Familiar too since I am missing Soulcatcher. He lets me draw a card out of three and sacs instantly with the echo. I a still tinkering though it is missing something I have to go buy the Soulcatcher's I need.

I actually am missing Battle Screech too, I want to try that or Fable of Wolf and Owl Fable expensive though. What do you think of Emeria Angel ?

Culling Dias and Soulcatcher together with a thrumming bird in play is really fun!!!! I just whooped all over my brother LOL.
Keeper of the Nine Gales is one of the best birds. It gives you a way to affect the board aside from making a bunch of flying doofs, and keeping people off of lands on the play is pretty good.

Yes I have Four in My sideboard would like to main deck him figured I would need a card to make tokens to best use his ability.
Seaside Heaven seems really good for this deck! I'd definetly play 2 or 3. They seem even better than Culling Dais, since you don't need to find room for them (just replace a couple of lands), but they don't interact with Thrumming Bird as well. Both are good options, maybe you could even run them both.
Emeria Angel is an overall good card, I thought of it and didn't play it because the lack of room, but it's still an option.
Keeper of the Nine Gales also seems very good, since we are playing a bucn of small birds, maybe you could cut the Stormscape Familiars, they are very good with Squadron Hawk, but that's about it, and in testing I often found myself with a lot of 1/1 flyers and nothing else (when I didn't draw Soulcatcher Aeries or Gravitational Shift). Keeper of the Nine Gales could be a nice way to stall the board until we get the deck going, but maybe just chump blocking is better, since that activates the Soulcatchers. It has potential, but needs some testing IMO.
I'm amazed by the potential of this deck, it has a lot of options. I'm still not sure what are the best ones though
Edit: Ok, after we've talked about, this is what came up with:
This deck runs better than the last one I posted, Keeper of the Nine Gales is very good, definetly a fine addition. You could also play Pride of the Clouds (also very good) in that spot. Since I'm not running Stormscape Familiar anymore, Squadron Hawk could've easily been Welkin Hawk, I use the first one mostly because I'm using this deck to play overextended and Welking Hawk isn't legal there. Emeria Angel would also fit pretty well here, maybe in place of Battle Screech if you like it more (fetchlands are needed to get the most of it though). Gravitational Shift is still a beast, and the rest of the deck runs very smoothly

Boy I need to buy some Mutavaults too damn that card is so good. So I have been playtesting as well and I am proud to say my other 3 Soulcatcher's are on the way. Out of your list this is what I am missing...
I like the Wargear because it beefs up my birds if I do not get the Aerie out and it gives me an outlet to sac for counters. I also like The Roc Egg because if I wrath killing 3 kirds I immediatly get a 6/6 beater. I do like Gravitational Shift and Mutavault alot I have to get those cards. I would like to draw more cards so I am working on that. I played a deck the other day with 4 skullclamp that card is so awesome in this deck!
basically, summon weenie bird soldiers to the battlefield to stall the game until you acquire Soulcatchers' Aerie, Emeria, The Sky Ruin, and seven plains. then Wrath of God everything, putting all creature to graveyard (including your opponent). With Emeria, The Sky Ruin's land ability, you'll be able to bring back your weenie bird soldier once a turn from graveyard to play. instead of being weenie, they will be huge because of Soulcatchers' Aerie.
conclusion: the best thing about this deck is that its affordable and fun, but very slow. as you can see, there aren't any one dropper and the combo have to wait until seven plains to be acquired. on a one-on-one match (against such deck as my friend's zoo deck), i am able to win most of the time even "before" i can set up my combo. this deck is weak against affinity deck and burn/haste deck, so this is best suited for matches like a free-for-all or 2-on-2.
updates: i wanted to make this deck a little more quicker for the combo to work, so i added Tithe to get plains. i took out Cloudreach Cavalry and replace it with Suntail Hawk, a one dropper. Cloudreach Cavalry is a nice card, it gets +2/+2 when theres a bird in play. but, i hated the fact that it isn't a bird. therefore, Soulcatchers' Aerie doesn't get any bonus from it.
i also took out Pacifism and replace it with Journey to Nowhere because it can get rid of creatures with any special ability with the same mana cost.
Back it up with the usual control/tempo package, and toss in a playset of Augury Owl & Squadron Hawk.
Seaside Haven is kinda cool, but a little slow in my experience. If you have them lying around, sure.
Nimbus Maze is a phenomenal color fixer and still relatively budget.
I've seen some gross things happen with Soulcatcher's Aerie but never really used it myself.
Stonecloaker & Flickerwisp are insane most games, and their P/T are very aggressive and you can surprise-aggro-win with them. I also run Masako the Humorless as a 2-of in mine and it is a nasty surprise every time I play her. (usually w/Glory in the bin..did I mention that bit? :evillol:)
How are them Birds coming along all???:D
I have a few tweeks to make. I have been testing the hell out of this deck. I am Still lacking some key cards, but its coming. I am still looking for ideas.
There are so many different ways to go with this deck. I think the cards I am most set on are, Soulcatchers Aerie , Culling Dias , Soulcatcher, and the Thrummingbird . I believe these are the back bone of this deck.
"atq77's" deck looks sweet but it has some $$$expensive$$$ cards. Mainly Mutavault and Flooded Strand .
I am anxious to know if those lands were not available, what would be the best options otherwise. I also wonder if the Gravitational shift was gone what could it be replaced with???
Hi there! I'm glad you liked the suggestions. You have an interesting deck right there, Roc Egg has a lot of synergy with the sac outlets and the soulcatchers, I like it. I'm not sure about Wrath of God though, it does have a nice interaction with Roc Egg, but we are running so many creatures, and without a Soulcatcher's Aerie in play it isn't impressive at all. If you get the Gravitational Shifts I would cut them (because we want to have a lot of creatures in play to abuse Gravitational Shift). Grafted Wargear is an interesting addition too, but remember not to have too many sac outlets.
About the mana base, Flooded Strand and Hallowed Fountain aren't necessary at all, Glacial Fortress is a fine replacement. The vivid lands are not very good in a 2 color deck though, I'd replace them with something else like Sejiri Refuge (this should be easy to get).
Gravitational Shift and Mutavault are very good indeed and difficult to replace, but the deck should still work without them, as they aren't fundamental to our main strategy. I'd still try to get them though, especially Gravitational Shift because it's quite cheap
I'm play testing two versions of the Poop Deck, one G/W/U and one W/U. My W/U is running a very similar set up except I use Gemstone Mine and a few copies of the Jitte which combo nicely with Thrummers. I run BoPs and Doubling Season in my green version, which is just a flying stompy counters deck.

Also Skullclamp + Soulcatcher's Aerie + Soulcatcher + Squadron Hawk + Stormscape Familiar = WIN. They are all sinergistic with eachother, add to the mix some Thrumming Birds and some 1-drops like Suntail Hawk and Aven Envoy, a couple of Battle Screechs and 2 or 3 Gravitational Shift and you get a powerful deck indeed. I also like the Aven Mimeomancers because they round out the mana curve, and since we are playing them I'd play 1 Kangee, Aerie Keeper (just one because it's a little slow for this deck). The skullclamp is very good, but it isn't a necessity, the deck still works if you want it to be Legacy legal.
I don't like Mana Leak in this deck because we are playing a lot of 1 and 2 drops that have to be played early in the game, so we'll never be untapped the first turns. I'd play them in the sideboard though.

Rasputin Dreamweaver EDH
Yes I have Four in My sideboard would like to main deck him figured I would need a card to make tokens to best use his ability.
4 Nimbus Maze
4 Flooded Strand
4 Hallowed Fountain
4 Plains
2 Island
2 Seaside Heaven
4 Aven Envoy
4 Thrumming Bird
4 Squadron Hawk
4 Soulcatcher
3 Keeper of the Nine Gales
3 Battle Screech
3 Gravitational Shift
3 Culling Dais
This is what I have right at this moment. And I must say it has been doing really well.
4 Stormscape Familiar
4 Aven Envoy
4 Squadron Hawk
4 Suntail Hawk
4 Roc Egg
1 Soulcatcher
3 Culling Dias
3 Grafted Wargear
4 Soulcatchers Aerie
4 Wrath of God
5 Islands
2 Vivid Creek
2 Vivid Meadow
4 Glacial Fortress
3 Seaside Haven
I like the Wargear because it beefs up my birds if I do not get the Aerie out and it gives me an outlet to sac for counters. I also like The Roc Egg because if I wrath killing 3 kirds I immediatly get a 6/6 beater. I do like Gravitational Shift and Mutavault alot I have to get those cards. I would like to draw more cards so I am working on that. I played a deck the other day with 4 skullclamp that card is so awesome in this deck!
This deck been with me since the onslaught edition, been modifying till this day
Creature (22)
3x Aven Riftwatcher
2x Aven Brigadier
1x Commander Eesha
4x Suntail Hawk
1x Lieutenant Kirtar
3x Soulcatcher
4x Aven Squire
4x Wall of Omens
Enchantment (10)
2x Mobilization
4x Soulcatchers' Aerie
4x Journey to Nowhere
Land (20)
16x Plains
4x Emeria, The Sky Ruin
Sorcery (4)
4x Wrath of God
Instant (4)
4x Tithe
Sideboard (8)
4x Disenchant
4x Tormod's Crypt
this deck pump up creatures by wiping out the board (battle field).
combo: Soulcatchers' Aerie + Emeria, The Sky Ruin + Wrath of God
basically, summon weenie bird soldiers to the battlefield to stall the game until you acquire Soulcatchers' Aerie, Emeria, The Sky Ruin, and seven plains. then Wrath of God everything, putting all creature to graveyard (including your opponent). With Emeria, The Sky Ruin's land ability, you'll be able to bring back your weenie bird soldier once a turn from graveyard to play. instead of being weenie, they will be huge because of Soulcatchers' Aerie.
defense consist of Pacifism, Mobilization, and Wall of Omens (consider it as a draw engine as well).
conclusion: the best thing about this deck is that its affordable and fun, but very slow. as you can see, there aren't any one dropper and the combo have to wait until seven plains to be acquired. on a one-on-one match (against such deck as my friend's zoo deck), i am able to win most of the time even "before" i can set up my combo. this deck is weak against affinity deck and burn/haste deck, so this is best suited for matches like a free-for-all or 2-on-2.
updates: i wanted to make this deck a little more quicker for the combo to work, so i added Tithe to get plains. i took out Cloudreach Cavalry and replace it with Suntail Hawk, a one dropper.
Then, cast multiple Battle Screeches in a chain, pumping Pride of Clouds and swing in for lethal the next turn.
:evillol:)

About the mana base, Flooded Strand and Hallowed Fountain aren't necessary at all, Glacial Fortress is a fine replacement. The vivid lands are not very good in a 2 color deck though, I'd replace them with something else like Sejiri Refuge (this should be easy to get).
Gravitational Shift and Mutavault are very good indeed and difficult to replace, but the deck should still work without them, as they aren't fundamental to our main strategy. I'd still try to get them though, especially Gravitational Shift because it's quite cheap
4 Suntail Hawk
4 Welkin Hawk
4 Thrummingbird
4 Squadron Hawk

2 Door of Destinies

3 Culling Dais
2 Umezawa's Jitte
