Hi Guys, been months since I was both playing Magic and posting here.
My brother started playing Magic again after years and thought he wanted to get into casual magic again.
He's currently thinking about tempo decks, however he's bored of aggro beats as a wincon, no matter how efficient they are, such as Tarmogoyf.
Thus, he suggested a creatureless tempo deck challenge to build (his knowledge of the card pool is much lesser than me thus he challenged me to build one =\)
I'm not too familiar with tempo decks in general so I'm looking for help here =)
Correct me if I'm wrong, from my knowledge of competitive legacy, tempo consist of:
Mana-Efficient Threats
Inexpensive Tricks
Cheap Removal/Bounce
Disruption 2 for 1 for CA
Without creatures, a quick look up of efficient threats would be:
I run various howling mine effects along with Urza's untapping cards like snap and rewind. Sapphire Medallion as well to make them actually generate mana.
To get my draw engine going, I need to Psychic Possession my opponent. Once it do, I will start throwing wheel and deals at them, making me draw up to 8 cards.
Counterspells such as Rewind, Remand, Foil and Arcane Denial keep my opponents under control.
I run a few windfalls in my deck, but they are banned/restricted and kinda broken. They help a lot, but the deck could work without em.
Cards like Twincast and Noxious Revival can ensure that you have enough forced card drawing for your opponent to knock em out. Both cards are very flexible.
To win, the easiest way is to run them out of cards. You may need to recycle your library to do this. Elixer of Immortality is great at this, as is that U quest for zendikar.
Other win conditions would reduce the focus of the deck. When the whole deck is focussed around both of you drawing lots of cards, it happens. Your deck is built to run well off lots of cards, so you should be able to use this to your advantage and win.
This deck has a cool creatureless tempo feel to it. The whole game feels like a race, which makes it pretty exciting.
I've got a deck slightly like the above that takes advantage of Jace's Erasure. My deck is RU though.
Not sure how relevant that deck is, doesn't seem to be tempo although it uses tempo cards. Like a control deck with a grave titan finisher calling itself a zombie tribal.

Not sure there's more though.
Limitations here would be budget (ideally a maximum of 200 bucks in total) and all cards must be Legacy Legal. Focus will be mostly based on 1v1.
Any suggestions? =)

Snap, Propaganda and Evacuation handle creatures and work well with the turbo draw concept and the wheel and deal in the deck.
