Ok this is basically the second round of the contest. The card picked for the first round was Auratouched Mage
So here are the rules for the decks.
1: Decks have to be based around, or heavily influenced around the said card. If I feel its not its not qualified.
2: Even though its casual I don't want you to use banned cards or more then 1 of each restricted card. Other then that every set is legal, even unglued and unhinged.
3: I don't completely care how good the deck is, I mean yeah better decks are gonna be more favorable, but I want to see better interactions with the said card.
4: I will be doing a point based system.
You get 1 point for submiting a decklist, and an extra 1 if it follows all of the criteria.
You get 5 points for being picked as a finalist (If I decide to do that, depends on how many people input decklists).
You get 5 points for getting picked as the best deck.
Bazaar of Baghdad - The deck's engine. It draws into needed cards and sets up Replenish.
Cabal Coffers - The deck needs a lot of mana on one turn, and it has to come from somewhere.
Academy Ruins - Recurs Artifacts from Bazaar.
Replenish - Bypasses mana costs on Enchantments, thanks to Bazaar.
New Frontiers - Gives my opponent (and me) a lot of extra mana.
Wheel of Fortune - Gives my opponent (and me) 7 cards.
Head Games - Sets up the opponent with the perfect combination of cards to kill him with. If I have a few Soul Barriers, I go with Creatures. If have some Ichneumon Druids, then I find Instants. And if I have Ashenmoor Liege, I get whatever I can to target it. Played right before using...
Mindslaver - Now, with my opponent full of the perfect cards to deal the most damage, I 'slaver them and make them cast them all.
Ok, so you people know what I will base my judging on, I do care about: creativity (6) - that's both an awesome combo and fine-tuned synergy the fun-factor (6) - reading some of my decklists you can guess what that means consistency (6) - my opinion on your deck's chances doing what you want it to do. "protection/controll/disruption" (6/7) - that's harder for combo decks than synergy/normal decks, but if done right combo decks can get an extra point.
in brackets are the points, leading to a maximum of 24/5. some of the factors play right into others, I can't explain it 100%, but I hope you get the gist. (ex: 7 points for pcd will also push creativity)
I think, I'll quote NNM, in case he misses to repost it here:
here's what i came up with. Don't know if theese are obvious combinations. It's not that strong even with all the restricted tutors, but it should be fun. I'm sure you could work this deck easily into a budget, but I am too lazy for this right now (esp. to balance the mana base).
The idea is sort of to get your opponent Manaflooded and deal lots of Damage with Blood oath as a side kick you can also gamble in the Infernal Spawns of Evil to finish your manaflooded opponent or more conservative stuff like DSC. If you can't go for Evacuation/ Wash out into Head Games to give them a hand full of lands, you could also use sunder as shortcut.
I know again my deck doesn't stand or fall with the Contest Card but it's nevertheless part of the decks strategy, even if its not it's sole way to win.
This is going to be challenging, I don't even know what kind of tribe I will use this time. I thought about Monger, but there is only one in each color, and I would like to avoid that more than half of my tribal spell are Changeling....
You don't have to make it Tribal. Besides, given the choice between unsynergistic Tribes and synergistic cards, which would probably be better?
The idea is to use head games or Jester's mask (Head games #5-7) to set your opponent's hand of all cards of one color and then Persecute them. Then the deck generally plays as a reanimator/discard deck. Also you can Head games right before they will have to pitch to a wheel...also funny
Ok, the idea is simple. Get The altar, fecundity, and Aluren all out at the same time. There is plenty of search to accomplish this. Play the cockroaches, sacrifice them for a mana, return them to your hand, repeat. With Fecundity out, you can draw however many cards you need to to get the Head Games/Ignite Memory. Use the head games to make sure your opponent has a hand of decent sized mana costs, and then you use Ignite Memories.
Granted, it's probably not as consistent as other entries, but you get a "WTF?" out of your opponent the first time it goes off against them.
Yeah go ahead and jump in, the more the better. I want to see lots of people in this contest. I love the decks so far also, keep up the good work guys.
I've decided to give minus points for cards that should not be in the deck or subpar choices and a plus point if I can't find such cards.
- cr: 6 ; akward and evil as ever.
- f: 3 ; if it works 6, if it fails 0
- co: 2 ; does not look that consistent
- p: 2 ; Replenish and Ruins
-> 14
- cr: 4 ; putting the card in an existent archetype, ok, but the deck could jsut combo out once it reaches 5 mana (3) +1 for Therapy
- f: 1 ; storm is not fun imo
- co: 5 ; it can win, with or without Games
- p: 5 ; Therapy and a redundant built with mutliple ways to win
minus 2 for the 0cc creatures, rather pack some tutors, speed and Y's Will
-> 13
- cr: 6 ; for finding Jester's Mask
- f: 3 ; casual stuff
- co: 5.5 ; with 7 "Games", I don't want to give a 6
- p: 4; some discard
minus 2 for Megrim and minus 1 for playing Ostracise over Toughtseize
-> 15.5
- cr: 5 ; for the combo with Oath
- f: 5 ; adding spite to malice without being broken
- co: 5 ; solid Tutor base
- p: 2 ; some expensive bounce and a bit of discard
minus 2 for the creatures, minus one for Ostracise, minus 2 for sunder (you'd need 8 mana to go off -> self hose)
->12
- cr: 4 ; putting the card in an existent archetype, ok, but it's a subpar way of winning (3), +1 for Memories
- f: 4 ; the wtf-factor
- co: 2 ; 4 permanents combo, big meh
- p: 1; redundant pieces
I'll neither give nor take you points for card choices, as it is I ca^'t improve it wit out changing the way it works
->11
- cr: 5 ; sosolala
- f: 4 ; I'd need to play it, looks interesting
- co: 4 ; you can screw the op's plans
- p: 4 ; some discard
minus 1 for Martyr (its a oneshot effect) minus 1 for the Harvester as i see no point in him
-> 15
thank you...and actually I dont feel like ost5racise is nessicarily always a worse choice than thoughtsieze. the deck i built has a weak early game and needs to no loose much life as it has trouble staying alive for the late game. Orstracise also puts targets to reanimate in the bin early on and sets you up for a flipped Nighteyes the desicrator on turn 3.
Ok I loved all the decks, but I just love how Parabolas deck worked. I was really close to picking him last time, but I just have to go with his deck this time. Though I love all the decks and I love how everyones works out. This is what I want the contests to be like.

How was the rest of your rankings, though, in order? If I placed 3rd on Blutsau's list and first one yours, if Shoe placed 2nd on your list, then, by averages, he wins the contest. If he placed 3rd, then we tie. If Eldros placed 2nd on yours, then we tie.

Also, what does happen in the event of a tie?
Also thank you.
So, how do the points tally up then?
