Ok I've always wanted to do this. I want to see decks people can come up with around cards. This is mostly for fun but I would love to see some crazy decks appear on here. And I am going to try to have some prizes set up for people, obviously cards but that only depends if I can get some good stuff. So here are the rules for the decks.
1: Decks have to be based around, or heavily influenced around the said card. If I feel its not its not qualified.
2: Even though its casual I don't want you to use banned cards or more then 1 of each restricted card. Other then that every set is legal, even unglued and unhinged.
3: I don't completely care how good the deck is, I mean yeah better decks are gonna be more favorable, but I want to see better interactions with the said card.
4: I will be doing a point based system.
You get 1 point for submiting a decklist, and an extra 1 if it follows all of the criteria.
You get 5 points for being picked as a finalist (If I decide to do that, depends on how many people input decklists).
You get 5 points for getting picked as the best deck.
I have a few people that are going to help me judge so it won't just be me. And I will be posting people and points probably in this post, I will update it like 2 to 3 times a week if possible.
Deckholder
Edit: there is no such an aura that's worth getting it with the Mage, aka he's not worth his 5W.
ok, I've had an idea, when an aura's not worth putting it on the Mage, do something about it:
the Mage is rather a Tutor and 3/3 to beat face, than a superhero in here. Shut up a creep or gain controll of it wait 'til a destroy effect/lethal damage is on the stack, move the Aura. Uhm whatelse, ah, controll matchup - hope to outspeed them with your accel, prey for a t1 scepter with MD, or adjust the Aura's. I made it thus cretaure hating, becaue many kitchens do not like control.
MP is in there just for kicks and giggles, budget was not mentioned thus the Landbase, Moxen and MD.
Auratouched mage loves flicker form....kill off all of thier dudes with galvanic arc...and heck them too...all the while swinging for alot of spiritlinked damage. Kitsune mystic moves Faith's fetters off of the mage and on to enemy dudes
For the best deck thing, I mean in general how the cards interact with each other. I mean more powerful decks will be looked on more favorably because they do well also. I mean if you want to make it really good for a specific format then it would be good to let me know what format it is derived around.
Ok so we have a couple of good decks already, this is already working out better then I hoped. I know the card isn't good but thats not the point, the point is to make fun decks based around the card. I have points listed in my first post. I would like to have 5 decks before I decide on a winner for the first round
Ok so here is a small assessment on what I think of the decks so far.
Eldros - I love how you made it a wizard themed deck. And the whole deck seems to work together anyway. I like the enchant creature cards you picked and I love how everything seems to just work together. A very well made deck and very well thought out.
Blutsau - Ok at first I looked at your deck and was trying to figure out what you were trying to do. After I read what you said and went back through your deck it all made sense. It is an awesome way of trying to use the card. The fact that you will just tutor out control spells and throw them on an opponents creatures is very nice. Definitely a different and interesting way to use the card. I say very good job. Its a very nice casual control deck and I really want to play it lol.
Shoe - This is a very typical deck based around this card. I do like the enchant creatures you chose, and Flickerform is very synergetic. The whole deck seems to work together quite well and seems like an interesting play.
Maddox - I love the fact that you are doing a budget deck around this card. I love how your deck works, seeing that its more based on getting small creatures out and using tricks and enchanting them to win. The whole deck seems to work out very nicely in the end. Even for a budget deck this seems like a very fun deck that could wreck some havoc if it went off right.
So good job everyone, I will talk to the other judges soon but I would like 1 more deck before I come to a final conclusion at least, but I'll keep it going for a few more days. I think I'll have a new card every week. So look back on Monday for final results.
First either enchant Blood Pet or Tinder Wall with Pattern of Rebirth, or play an Auratouched Mage and stick in on him.
Next, get out Ashnod's Altar and get a Living Death in hand. Now you're ready.
Sacrifice the Pattern of Rebirth'd creature and find an Auratouched Mage. Put Pattern of Rebirth on it and sacrifice him. Find another Auratouched Mage, put Pattern of Rebirth on it, and sacrifice him. Fetch yet another Auratouched Mage, put the final Pattern of Rebirth on it and sacrifice him. If you have another Auratouched Mage left in the library, tap all your lands and fetch it, letting it fetch Treachery so you can untap five of your lands; if you ran out of Auratouched Mages, find any creature and sacrifice it.
Play Living Death. You should get back at least 4 Auratouched Mages and another creature. Put all the Auratouched Mages' triggers on the stack, and sacrifice one of them. For your Auratouched Mages, find Emblem of the Warmind, Treachery (not a big deal if you have none left), Aura of Dominion, and Elemental Mastery. If you don't have any R, pick Aura of Dominion as the one to fetched by the now-dead Auratouched Mage. If you do, go ahead and choose Elemental Mastery to enchant the dead one. You may sacrifice the Auratouched Mage that found Treachery for mana, if you need it.
At the absolute least, you board position should include an Autatouched Mage enchanted with Emblem of the Warmind, and an Auratouched Mage enchanted with either Elemental Mastery or Aura of Dominion. Go ahead and play whatever enchantment you put in you hand onto the Mage with the other enchantment you were supposed to choose between. Tap the Mastery/Dominion Mage for 3 1/1 tokens (since it has Haste). Sacrifice one for 2 if you are out of mana. Tap another token, pay 1 to untap the Mastery/Dominion Mage. You now have the same board position before you tapped the Mage, except you now have 1 extra and 1 untapped 1/1. Tap the Mage and untap it again. You now have 3 untapped, hasted creatures and two ready to be sacrificed for more mana.
Net result per 2 activations: 3 Hasted 1/1s
From that point, kill the opponent with an unlimited number of tokens.
@djosh: If you're going to do this every week, why not let the winner of each week pick the card for the next week?
Thats a pretty good idea. But I want to make sure the card is ok. Nothing to obvioius to build around and nothing way to hard to build around. But that seems like a good idea to me. And I love your deck, this is what I wanted to see when I started this, see what people can do to play around said card. Your deck basically does exactly that. I'm not saying that the others aren't awesome also, but yours is something that people wouldn't expect. Good job.
I strongly dissagree with parabola on who chooses the card to built around - the person choosing has a significant advantage over the rest of the field.

If the person who wins gets to choose the card, then they can sit a week out. It would be unfair if they didn't. Also, in the event that the same person wins week after week, this lets other people win as well.
I'm also wondering if the person who wins would also sit on the voting bench for a next time. Isn't that how the FCC contest work?
I think these contests have potential. It's definitely something different than the usual going-ons of the Casual forum (Elf deck, Discard deck, Sliver deck, ect. ect.).

did I miss the previous ideas in your first post or did you manage to change your idea so I like it by chance?
both winners sitting on the bench for a round and semi-swapping judges are nice ideas, so djosh could also contribute and show us what he has in mind, so all the participants have an idea on what the rest focuses on.
I still wonder if one can do such a contest here... are the mods ok with this?

I wouldn't mind that. It would make it more interesting and I could make some decks also, but I don't know how good they would be, I prefer to rate decks then build them. But I would happily build some decks every once in a while, I would prefer to help judge more often though. But I wouldn't mind the winner choosing the card as long as I get to choose 1 every once in a while. I'm glad everyone likes this so far, and I think I am gonna allow open voting as long as you don't vote for your deck also. That way it will be more of a general consensus on the deck rather then just a couple people. Tell me what you guys think. Thanks.

Actually, I think what happened is that I wasn't clear in explaining it, but I'm glad to see other people like it.
At this point, the one thing I think could be changed is to not make it every week. IMO, it's a bit much. I think every other week or every month would be fine. Also, it gives something to look forward to. A very rough idea:
First Day: Card is unveiled. Decks are submitted.
Second through Tenth Day: More decks are submitted.
Eleventh Day: Judges deliberate on the decks submitted before the cut-off date.
Thirteenth Day: Scores are unveiled. The winner is asked to submit a new card for the next contest and sits on the Judge's Bench. The winner cannot submit an entry for their chosen card.
Fourteenth Day (ideally): New contest begins with the new card.
Now, there are some things to work out. For example, how long do we wait for a card from the winner? What if they never contact back? Who becomes the Honorary Judge for that week? Do we ever change formats and rules (Ext Legal, Legacy Legal, Anything Goes, ect.)?
I wouldn't mind that. It would make it more interesting and I could make some decks also, but I don't know how good they would be, I prefer to rate decks then build them. I'm uneasy about open voting, as it could be easily abused and could become more of a popularity contest than a deck making contest. I do agree that we could use more judges. How that is done, well I don't really know.
Also, djosh, you and your friends wouldn't get bumped out of judging when someone else wins. The winner merely casts their vote along with you and yours. However, if any of you Judges wanted to get in on the deck-building action for a round, I don't see why you guys couldn't break for a week to try. Although, since you are already judges, you wouldn't get much out of it, except to pick the next card.
Once we can get more people involved, it would be interesting to a have a fully rotating set of Judges. Each one stays on the board for X weeks until they are rotated out.
I will say, however, it would help if your Judge friends would make accounts to post their own results.
Well I know one person will do it, but the other one might not be able to, because he is gonna be away for a while with no internet so it looks like its only us 2 right now. I would like 1 more at least because 2 is not enough, and I was hoping for more but none of my friends got back to me...
I know it will be interesting to see how everything works, and I would rather keep it on a 1 week schedule but move it to 2 if we get more people. About that, I would want to start the new contest every Monday so if the person doesn't submit a card by late Sunday or early Monday, then I will pick the card again I guess. But I will definitely get results in on Sunday so it gives the winner a day to get to me what card they want. I mean I could post the results on Sat to give the winner 2 days, but I don't know if I want it to be that short.

I suppose one week is fine while we still have so few people. I do agree that the schedule could be a little longer when we get more people. With more people, there are a lot more decks to decide on. Instead of 5 decks, what if it was 10? 15? 20?
For these first few rounds, I would just recommend posting results when you got them. If you don't have them Saturday, no sweat, you still got Sunday. If you have them Saturday, then that gives the winner some extra time to get back to you, in case they have a night-shift job or a time-zone difference, or whatever. If the contest is closed for entry, it's basically up to the judges when to decide to close the contest and open the next one.
Again, once we get more people, a more rigid structure would probably be better appreciated.
Yeah I understand, it will be more structured when we get more people. For now though getting the results in on Saturday gives the winner a day or two to get me the card and follows at least some sort of structure. And at least next time we will have 3 judges which will make it more fair.
I'm voting for Blutsau.
I'm voting for him because I find that taking control of your opponents creatures is a good way of control and you don't need to buff your own creatures to dish out damage.
My vote is for Blutsau, I love how he makes his deck based around using the Mage to get removal spells out to move them onto opponents creatures. It's a very interesting idea to work around.
2nd place is a tie for me. Eldros and Parabola01. They both have interesting ideas, where Eldros based it off a wizard deck while Parabola made a very fun infinite combo. I love both decks as they are both exactly what I was looking for in this contest.
Shoe and Maddox have really good decks also, but not exactly what I was looking for. Shoe's deck is what I was kinda expecting a lot of people to base the deck around where Maddox has a very interesting budget deck that I liked but it didn't use the card in a very innovative way.
Good job to everyone, the winner is Blutsau for this round. He will have till midnight Sunday to get me his choice for the card in. I will make a new post with his card or a card chosen by me if he doesn't get the card in.
Yes you are, you get to help vote on what deck you want to win. We will try to get a general consensus on which deck wins though. Congrats on winning and I can't wait to see the new decks
Cool idea. So now it's open again for new decks to be posted, based around Head Games right? I've gotta work on it and see if I can come up with anything and post a deck later on.
Yeah I want to make another post for it, maybe I should make it now just to give more time. I am ok with the card so its all set. Good luck to everyone again.

It's a tie between Apocalypse Chime, Golgothian Sylex and City in a Bottle.
