Hello, everyone! I've been playing Magic for a bit now, but have just recently joined the forums (at the behest of my local gaming store). Currently, this is my main deck (Orzhov lifegain) that I have been working on for the past six months. I'm not sure if it is "Standard" or "Legacy" (I'm still learning the definitions of these terms), but we (my pen-and-paper gaming friends) have simply been hunkered down in garages just playing with the cards we have making whatever decks we can. I would really like to jump into the FNM foray sometime soon, though, but I am not sure what's "legal" or what is frowned upon within the community.
I was just hoping for some feedback, advice, commentary, etc. Thank you so much for your time, advice, and words!
(Also, I haven't posted much so far since I have joined, so I hope it is neither rude nor selfish of me seeking feedback before I've offered much advice to the community myself.)
(I particularly enjoy what Sanguine Bond has to offer with my lifelink, extort, and specifically my Debt to the Deathless (which has won me a couple of games single-handedly).)
If you're interested in getting into constructed FNM gameplay, you'll almost certainly be playing Standard. Standard-legal cards include all those printed in the last two blocks (as of now, Theros and Return to Ravnica) as well as the latest core set (Magic 2014). Currently, the cards that are legal for Standard play are from the following sets:
Born of the Gods (will be released next month)
Theros
Magic 2014
Dragon's Maze
Gatecrash
Return to Ravnica
In case you didn't know, a "block" is a set of three Magic expansions released over the course of one year. For example, RtR began with Return to Ravnica as the cornerstone set, but was followed up in subsequent months with the release of Gatecrash and Dragon's Maze. The three sets, together, constitute the "Return to Ravnica block." That's what people mean when they say that Standard comprises the last two "blocks" published. Theros block hasn't been completed yet. So far, only the first expansion of the block, Theros, has been released, with the second expansion, Born of the Gods, due in February. The third and final set in Theros block will be released a couple months after that.
I would suggest remaking this topic in the Standard forum. "Block constructed" refers to decks that comprise only one block (for example, only cards printed in RtR block), while Standard gives you two blocks and a core set to work with. You've already got some cards from Theros in your deck, it looks like (e.g., Whip of Erebos).
A few last notes: You can use an older printing of a card in Standard as long as it has been reprinted in a Standard-legal set. (e.g., you can use an old sixth edition copy of Fog because it has been reprinted in Magic 2014).
Also, you can always check to see if a card is legal in Standard, or any other format, by checking gatherer.wizards.com or magiccards.info.
Finally, it would be a good idea to get used to including card tags when posting decklists in the future. It makes them much easier for other people to analyze.
I see you have found a similar thread in the Standard Deck Creation Section.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
