One difference I see is that Josh is running 24 lands, where as Reid, Park and Chapin's decks had 26/26/25 respectively. And both R/G Elspeth decks had 24 lands.
Only two agent of erebos in the top 8 lists. If this frequency is generalizable to the PT then I'd say reanimator could have made a strong showing. Nobody thought reanimator was going to be played (thus no SB hate) but it is incredibly powerful and would have likely had a great matchup against these lists.
I love how the commentators (particularly Hagon) are trying to make it seem like it's actually good Magic when the entire finals revolve around simply who sticks Elspeth first, or who has the greater number of Elspeths. This entire Block format is warped around that one card. They banned Lingering Souls for that reason in Innistrad Block, but I guess Elspeth is too important to ban (she's the face, after all).
To be fair, that BUG Control list did pretty well without Elspeth. But overall, that Block Constructed format was incredibly boring compared to PT Dragon's Maze (the guilds were awesome and offered different tactics and lots of flavor) and it's obviously only a far, far cry from the sheer awesome that are the Modern Pro Tours.
To be fair you had 5-6 turns to thoughtseize it before they cast it. This had to be the most boring pro tour in recent memory. Block was always usually a grindy one but both RTR and ISD block draft pro tours were actually fairly entertaining so I guess we were due tedium in large quantities. I honestly think the entire pro tour would have been more entertaining if they just followed cifka with the stream so that you could watch someone not playing grindy midrange.dek.
