I have made a handful of Nath of the Gilt-Leaf decks in the past and that style of discard and disruption works incredibly well. However rather than just make that deck again I decided to add a color to up the amount of control the amount of mass discard and the amount of card advantage. The deck went sultai, Welcome to:
Tasigur's Recycling Plant
Why Tasigur
Sultai is home to a lot of really good Commanders most of which also play interesting with the Graveyard, why oh why would anyone pick Tasigur? Muldrotha is probably better for a deck that has a bigger focus on permanents, Mimeo on a deck that has way more creatures Sidisi really wants that Zombie theme to shine through and Damia is a lot of set up with a big ol bullseye on the head.
Tasigur represents inevitability, between his wonderful ability and delve the deck will get there if given the time and the deck is built around making sure he has enough time.
The deck at first had both Recycle and Null Profusion but those cards never really make sense for me in a control deck, which is what this became as it was created.
The closest equivalent to Tasigur IMO is Kess, Dissident Mage when built for control, repetition of powerful effects and the continual of filtering of what effects people see again and again to overwhelm people over the course the game. I will probably end up building a Kess Control/Reanimator thing at some point seems really potent.
Oh and if it isn't clear this deck ends games through grinding it out with its large monsters and if that doesn't work eventually a combination of recursion and really big Walking Ballistas will get there. Or you know a horde of Elves/Zombies
Only notable exclusion I can think of offhand is Notion Thief. Seems pretty good with the theme (shutting people out of getting back in the game with card draw and comboing with wheels). Not sure it's definitely in but it might be worth a try. List is pretty tight tho.
Are you sure that the signets are better than Cultivate effects in this shell? They go in the yard for reuse and delving, so pretty reasonable.
I feel like building Intuition packages in this deck is tough enough you might want to make a sample section. I see a lot of clutch packages like crop rotation+ewit+snap == always get whatever land you want, or ewit+corpse dance+Spell to force them to give you spell (or ewit).
oh, this deck seems like it'd really like a Chains someday, but I'm sure that's on your wish list
Yeah I also never know what I prefer between Creature Ramp, Artifact Ramp and Spell Ramp, if I was to swap em out I would probably go for Nature's Lore, Farseek and Harrow.
Chains would be fun but yeah it is budget thing and will likely be forever. I have also played that Notion Thief & Wheel game a lot and while it is fun for a bit it gets old real quick I tried to sneak a Dream Salvage into the deck somewhere but I couldn't find a card I liked less maybe after I play with it a better picture of what needs to stay/go will form.
The problem I have these days more generally is that my Commander collection is just 2 card carriers of about a 1000 cards total that I build all my decks out of each week and therefore it becomes rare I keep together a single EDH deck for longer than 3 or 4 games, I just make sure to make lists of the ones I like so it is easy to return to them.
