Hey guys.
Im extremely new to edh and was wondeirng if I could get some advice. Right now I am running Kruphix as my general. He has aways been kind durdlely and I am trying to make him a little more aggressive. I think the decklist I have is alright but I Know I can do better.
Hey there, welcome to the sub! Nice first start on your deck. It looks like your deck is trying to do a few things all at once, and I would recommend you narrow your focus a bit. Right now you've got cards like Traumatize and Hedron Matrix, and I think you can be doing better things with those slots in your deck.
Kruphix is a god that likes to produce a ton of mana, not just spend it. It looks like you are going the "big creature" route, instead of something combo-y. So my first suggestion to you would be to play more ramp. Cheap mana dorks like Llanowar Elves and Fyndhorn Elves, as well as Birds of Paradise, these are all pretty great ramp creatures. You want to be able to power out Kruphix as fast as possible, and then be able to pour as much mana into him as you can. I notice you have Yisan, the Wanderer Bard. He is a card that works best when you have multiple levels of CMC of creature. Right now it looks like you have a focus on big creatures. That means he won't be doing anything except taking up mana during earlier turns. If you take a look at my Momir Vig deck, you'll see that I have a steady procession of creatures, from 1 all the way up to 5. This ensures that Yisan always does work. Feel free to comment on my deck! Ramp spells are also important. Playing things like Skyshroud Claim, Explosive Vegetation, and Kodama's Reach/Cultivate are essential to be able to generate a lot of mana.
I would look into playing some other useful mana generators and mana sinks. Both of the UG partners, Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix, and Thrasios, Triton Hero, would work wonders in your deck. One generates mana, the other spends it and ramps you/draws you cards.
Duskwatch Recruiter is also a great mana sink, plus he gets you more creatures and card advantage! And don't forget Seedborn Muse! She is super duper important to be able to untap and sink more mana into Kruphix every player's turn.
Finally, you should have a final wincon that you can resort to for the wins. Craterhoof Behemoth and Pathbreaker Ibex should both be in the deck.
So, in sum:
1. Focus on one goal in your deck. As it's built now, it should be on powering out big fat creatures to attack with.
2. Be able to ramp up to big creatures. Do this by playing ramp spells and mana dorks.
3. Play a wide range of mana creatures, not all just big fatty high mana creatures. Play everything from 1-9.
4. Get a few main wincons that you can rely on to effectively close out the game.
5. Check out my decklist if you need any more ideas on UG deckbuilding! We don't have the same decks, but it could serve as a good starting point for you.
Welcome to the best format in Magic! I hope you have fun.
