Alright, so I've been trying to build an EDH deck with Gonti as the General. I've never built an EDH deck, so I just looked through to see what cards were popular with Gonti, added some of my favorites, and mashed them together. Tips?
I know this isn't the best deck, so that's why I'm asking here.
EDIT: I feel like I should add that I would like suggestions on replacements for the more expensive cards, as this decklist is about $200. This is not completely necessary, but it's always nice to save an extra $20 or so.
I'm sorry for doing this, but I was searching through my cards today and found a Kemba, Kha Regent I didn't know I had. With that, I came up with this deck in a similar fashion to the last one:
Welcome to the forums and for future endeavors, decklists go in their own sub-forums. You'll find help a lot faster if the decklist is in its proper place and It'll be added to the decklist database for others to find.
Now for the actual help. For Gonti, I'd suggest not using any reanimation effects that try to exile him if he should leave the battlefield. It's a lot easier to recur him from the grave and those effects prevent him from going back there. Another fantastic card is Corpse Dance, which is also instant speed and allows for you to mess with topdeck tutoring like Mystical Tutor and the rest of its cycle. Lands that allow you to sacrifice him are helpful as well with Phyrexian Tower and High Market being fairly staple for any deck that likes graveyard shenanigans.
For Kemba, drop Honor of the Pure as its effect is just too small and it keeps Kemba's tokens from triggering Mentor of the Meek. Open the Vaults is good to bring back all of your equipment from the grave. I'd also consider dropping some of the equipment, especially Swords of Body & Mind and War & Peace as their effects just aren't very good in this format(especially body and mind that tends to help any deck with graveyard shenanigans). I'd also consider dropping Sword of Vengeance as its cost is a bit high for its effect. You can make room for more removal, recursion, and such. Oh, also Enlightened Tutor as another tutor.
