Initially when the first Conspiracy set was released, I sort of fell in love with Marchesa, the Black Rose. And to some extent I'd like to still grab a copy of her, if nothing else Thraximundar would have fun times with her. When her newest iteration was released, I decided to try and build. I had previously tried Mardu with Zurgo Helmsmasher, and the deck played VERY well. Didn't ever lose a game, and he was quick. But it was a very run of the mill deck, and played the same way each time. Not something I'm interested in.
The queen is a challenge, because she's not as aggro as any of the other Mardu generals one would commonly see. She comes down quick and generates card advantage which is nice, and reprimands your opponents for attacking at you. It's an interesting card, and if anything led me to build more in a pillow fort enchantress style deck. It lacks the sheer card draw that a green flavoured enchantress build would have, but I've tried to make up for that in places. I also couldn't help myself, a lot of the cards in the deck play around the theme of Marchesa's royal court and entourage. It was easy and fun to do, so I thought why not?
I've yet to really playtest this deck extensively, so any feedback will be appreciated.
Tried to strip some of the chaff, and give the deck a few more tricks. What I've added has been heavily inspired by the judo styles of Ertai Planeswalker in this thread:
All of these cards I had lying around anyway, so there was no reason not to give the deck more firepower, and a little more subtlety by stripping the obvious hate cards like Kambal and Curse.
