What you are going to find below is the implementation of the same idea packaged within BUG/r shell led by the new dynamic duo: Vial Smasher the Fierce and Thrasios, Triton Hero.
The list has gone through limited testing (50+ games) and presents itself as a pretty linear strategy: the aim here is to ramp up to 7 land and shoot people for 18, throwing whatever comes handy at them in the process.
I will provide updates on my testing and the development of this deck in the coming days. There are some obvious omissions on the list that haven't made it into the current version. In no particular order:
Finally a Vial/Thras thread - it's the best Vial pairing IMO. I tested Vial/Thras Scapeshift for a bit as well but I found that it was redundant with Vial's triggered ability and diluted the gameplan and manabase. The trickiest thing with Vial/Thras is the manabase and running all the extra Mountains and basics for Scapeshift makes the mana more fragile. Also red might be wasted as a splash colour with all the Mountains you are bound to draw. Also Fiery Confluence is very strong with Vial/Thrasios. It's mostly 10 to the face with Vial in play, but it can also sweep for 2 (killing Geist but not Vial/Thrasios) and kill a mox or sword. Fireblast is probably worth it too even though it seems nonbo with Scapeshift. Reason being that could can steal wins out of nowhere with mainphase Mystical Teachings into Fireblast on their upkeep.
It's a Gruul centric Vial/Thrasios deck that emphasizes on ramping, LD, and X spells. The average cc is a lot higher, but it was intended to maximize Vial's potential, and if she gets removes frequently, Thrasios would use the excessive mana to get player back into the game.
IM sorry if I sound harsh but your list is for multiplayer and there is not much point to post it here (you even have cards that are banned in DC). I honestly think that your curve is way too high even for multiplayer. Smashers potential is not maximized by playing expensive spells but by playing expensive spells that can be played cheaply (like Gush, Force of will, treasure cruise etc..)
Not to mention your list is 107 cards and half of your spells is over 4 mana with only 36 lands
Oops, sorry I overlooked the DC restriction here, my bad.
And yes, I mentioned the deck is 107 cards and needs to trim down. Consider it's for multiplayer, the average cc is less of an issue with 3+ players, but I get what you meant.
