Hi, this is my first ever MTG deck(not the first EDH deck, but first EVER MTG deck). I want a budget pentacolor EDH deck, after looking for commander I pick Child of Alara because I like the effect and picture. I'm really new and need suggestion, after reading article and seeing video on YouTube I got these 100 cards. I need budget deck under $350 if possible, this deck is around $370. Thank you guys, heres the list:
Well this is just all over. 5 color goodstuff? How much do you want to lean on your commander? Angry Baby doesn't much like permanents... my call would be for less permanents and more ramp. The land base is the potentially expensive part. Stick to Rampant Growth and such can help the budget, while still being a playable 5c deck. I had my Angry Baby deck as a reanimator style, so a lot of things I didn't care if died, or I even purposely wanted dead.
so do you mean less creature and enchantment? I dont want to lean to my commander to much, but I want to bring him to the field everey once in every game at least. If I have less creature how can I hit my opponent? I cosider using all 10 dual manland, is it good?
If you just plan on the colors, Horde of Notions, is likely better for creatures, as it gives options. Child's strength is removing permanents.
Scenario: you have Child out, Liliana is out, ready to ultimate. Someone kills Child.
Scenario: you have Child out, you opponent is about to win, you have 4 enchantments, 2 planeswalkers and some creatures out. You can kill Child and stop your opponent, but you lose a ton of board presence as well.
Child works best when your board state is mere collateral, rather than something to stand on and win by.
I want to use child because of the color and the picture, I love the art, giant baby raging. EDH/commander rule say if commander going to graveyard you can put them in commander zone instead right? do child effect triggered if i put him on commander zone? anyway Hordeof Notion effect looks good to, adding more elemental card to deck for his effect
Not at all. Either grave or command zone. Don't get to have your cake and eat it too. If you continue with Child, Volrath's Stronghold is one of the strongest cards you can play. High Market and Phyrexian Tower come in just after. That's why most Child decks tend to run as a reanimator style. Even if you play it as 5c goodstuff, those lands are a HUGH boon. He becomes a board wipe when you need him, but don't have to have otherwise.
If your walkers have a hard time sticking around, you may want to cut them. They require a bit of dedication to keep around, which is especially hard in 5 colors without full fetch and duals. I think if you want to convert to some ramp without changing too much at once, you're safe cutting most of them. Planeswalkers have inherent targets on their heads in commander, but perhaps your meta has a hard time with them/ they dont get targetted as much. It's an awkward call with walkers sometimes because realistically theyre insane in the format, just unreasonable to keep around without devoting a large percent of the deck to letting them be more than a sorcery spell that sponged an attacker or two.

I like those cards but only High Market fit my budget.Volrath's Stronghold and Phyrexian Tower more than $20 each and I planned no singel card cost me more than $20, first time I decide no more than $15 but its very hard so I increase the limit. Do the God Creature like Mogis, God of Slaughter effected by child's effect? or they are save?

good enough dual land is way expensive almost 5 to 8 times the price. Maybe, just maybe if this deck work well I might consider upgrade to dual, but its a long shot
for also the same, if the deck works I will upgrade them to this. I think this is my next priority after the deck is done.
The duals aren't as important in reality, it's just you end up tutoring them fast and lose the life to have them enter untapped. Tightening land base is a really good (but expensive) move. Even if you change up commander decks they're always relevant. If you are comfortable with how your deck competes and still want to upgrade, that's a good time to grab a fetch land. Don't push your deck to be too strong in relation to your friend's decks.
The new list looks tighter though, good improvements. I'll come back later today when I can get a good look. I really appreciate the 5c good stuff list and you jumping into it without all the "proper" lands is admirable. I'm afraid to do it til I can get a few more duals
Birds of Paradise you may want land ramps. Players have mentioned this before. I think you want to have as little invested as possible outside of land ramp. Skyshroud Claim will do you a lot better since it can go get your shock lands. You may be forced to invest in getting only two specific colors, but in every game you'll probably be looking for at most two, so you won't lose too much giving up a "mana of any color source" in exchange for letting that extra mana stick around through A mass board wipe.
Explore is pretty low impact, you're better off with another ramp spell. Sylvan Scrying may be an even better option. It doesn't ramp, but you will find you'll be abusing lands as your deck advances.
Day of Judgement Swing for Toxic Deluge while it's cheap from its reprint. It can go around indestructible and one mana off a powerful board wipe is better than you think. I promise it's worth whatever price it is now, be glad you aren't looking to get a foil.
If you like playing the board and still trying to play your leader, you may want to consider things like Soul of New Phyrexia, Darksteel Plate, and Gift of Immortality so you can keep something around. Sun Titan is another power house for good stuff decks, especially when you switch to fetch and can have him act as a ramp spell. Cross your fingers with me we one day get a land that can fetch any land, whatever zany activation cost it may need.

Yeah, I think I'll cut all the Planewalkers leaving just Ugin, the Spirit Dragon and Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker
I think I'll replace the walkers with these

after that this cards will replace some in my deck
thank you for the help so far, I like 5c because it can access all cards.

Oversold Cemetery was pretty neat, but Palace Siege may be a little better.

for Soul of New Phyrexia if you tap 5 and then Child dies only enemy permanent that destroyed?
Is Commander Deck 2015 Swell the Host worth to buy?
