I built this deck around two main cards - Life from the Loam and Ad Nauseum. This deck functions by ramping through extra land drop effects as well as draw, filtering, and tutoring to find the above cards or one of the many strong combos in this deck.
This deck is a work in progress. It was originally made as a Skullbriar, the Walking Grave goodstuff deck that quickly turned into a tutor/ramp/land deck. When The Gitrog Monster was spoiler I immediately made the decision to switch over. After I play with the new commander a bit i'll have a much better understanding of what kinds of lands he'll like - right now the mana base is a bit sketchy. I tried keeping the CMC as low as possible for maximum cards off of Ad Nauseum.
Any criticism is welcome!
I will be updating the deck and working on the mana base as I play with the commander more (once he's released!).
Extra Land Drops Exploration - A permanent extra land drop for just G? Amazing in this deck. Manabond - Having the option not to do it makes this card great. Combine with Ad Nauseum and Ob Nixilis, The Fallen for maximum efficiency. Burgeoning - This is pretty good in the first couple of turns. Later in the game people may hold back lands or it may be a dead draw entirely. If you can get two land drops in from this it's worth it Gaea's Touch - Extra Forest isn't a problem, and you can sacrifice it later when you need the mana at instant speed! Explore - Cantrip extra land draw? Yes please. Summer Bloom - Easily one of the best cards to flip when you Ad Nauseum. Play this, play your lands, recur it, play it again, repeat to dump your hand. Combine with Lotus Cobra to play your hand or Grazing Gladeheart / Retreat to Kazandu to recover the life you lost. Journey of Discovery - Two extra land drops if I have a lot of lands in hand, two basics if I have none, and sometimes both because why not? Azusa, Lost but Seeking - Two permanent extra land drops? Don't mind if I do. Oracle of Mul Daya - Extra land drop is good, being able to see what the next card is for Ad Nauseum is great.
Landfall Lotus Cobra - All star. Leads to obnoxiously long turns where you can get very far ahead in resources. Grazing Gladeheart - Lifegain is very important in this deck. You use life as a resource a lot, good way to bounce back from an Ad Nauseum and is tutorable by GSZ. Retreat to Kazandu - Same as above, except harder to remove than a creature and not as tutorable. Ob Nixilis, the Fallen - Quick kill if you can get him out and Scapeshift or Manabond with a hand full of lands. Otherwise, Shizo, Death's Storehouse will get him through most defenses.
Graveyard Synergy Deathrite Shaman - He's basically a 1-mana planeswalker. Raven's Crime - Keep hands empty and just loam your lands back. Amazing synergy with the The Gitrog Monster. Life from the Loam - One of the best cards in the deck. I've cast this on an empty graveyard just to dredge some cards to get the engine going. Your first tutor should either be for this card or Ad Nauseum, depending on your hand. Absolutely ridiculous with cycle lands, fetch lands, and of course The Gitrog Monster. Hermit Druid - Consistent basic lands in your hand and cards in your graveyard. What's not to love? Crucible of Worlds - Incredible with sac lands, The Gitrog Monster loves it. Yawgmoth's Will - Replay all my tutors, lands, extra land drop cards from my graveyard? Sounds excellent.
Recursion Noxious Revival - Good response to graveyard hate to fish out your Loam or combo Regrowth - Returning any card is pretty great. The fact that it doesn't exile itself is helpful. Treasure Find - Regrowth that exiles itself. Eternal Witness - Regrowth + 2/1 + GSZ-able. Yes. Skullwinder - E-wit + Politics! Deathtouch is a nice bonus. Ill-Gotten Gains - Usually I play it after a combo player goes tutoring. They have to reveal their combo and other players have a chance to pick up some disruption.
Tutors Expedition Map - Generally with the tutors that search for lands, you want to grab a cycling land if you have Life from the Loam in your hand, Reliquary tower if you have Ad Nauseum. Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth + Cabal Coffers for big mana, Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage for a quick flying 20/20 indestructible, or any of the other utility lands depending on your situation. Special mention to Glacial Chasm for saving my life time and time again against all those voltron decks. Crop Rotation - Instead speed land tutor that sacrifices a land to the GM? Excellent. Entomb - 9 times out of 10 I get Life from the Loam. Combine this with a regrowth effect for an Ad Nauseum. Vampiric Tutor - One mana tutor, the two life is negligible. Green Sun's Zenith - Can get most of the utility creatures in the deck. T1 Dryad Arbor is a strong play with this card. Shred Memory - Specifically for Life from the Loam. Demonic Tutor - Tutors, what more can I say? This is a 2-mana card that can be the best card in your deck at any time. Sylvan Scrying - Land to hand, easy peezy. Realms Uncharted - Especially good wit Gitrog out, if you are playing a game where teams/allies are involved this performs very well. Combine with recursion for extra-goodness. Diabolic Revelation - Super tutor.
Combo/Wincons Exsanguinate - It's not hard to get a ridiculus amount of mana playing this deck. Can get back life lost form Ad Nauseum and can be powered into a wincon with relatively litte effort. Genesis Wave - This card is stupid good. Even with all the non permanent spells in this deck, Scapeshift - Get all of your land combos at once, a ton of landfall triggers, and draw a card from Gitrod. Really good. Rude Awakening - Untapping all of the lands you will accumulating over the course of the game in one go is usually enough to seal it. Combine with floating mana from Scapeshift for destruction. Ad Nauseam - The card this deck was built around. I stayed away from big CMC spells so that the most frequent card type this hits is land and low CMC spells. Generally you cast this on the end step before your turn, and you can easily pick up 20 cards with it. Combined with all the extra land drops, card draw, fast mana and utility lands Ad Nauseum gives you all of the fuel you need to lock the game up either the turn you resolve it or the turn after, you will be swimming in resources. The Great Aurora - If you can resolve this, you generally win. The only card you don't want to see with Ad Nauseum. The amount of card and land advantage you create throughout the early turns will put you very far ahead of cards+permanents.
Planeswalkers Nissa, Vastwood Seer - Land to hand, planeswalker side is pure card advantage. Perfect for this deck. Garruk Wildspeaker - Untapping two lands makes this planeswalker essentially cost (2) or less when he enters, creates blockers as well.
Interaction Beast Within - ANY permanent? Even those pesky graveyard hosers? Sign me up! Damnation - There are very few creatures in this list. Trading a utility dork or two for a board full of creatures is generally consider a "sweet deal".
Basic Lands/Colour Fixing Forest - 9x Forest is a good number, I think. I could go lower to add in more utility lands and fetches. Swamp- 2x Swamp. May drop down to one or zero since Bayou and Overgrown Tomb can take be fetched and there are no cards that are BBB. I think I would need to include more fetches if I want to drop down that many, though... Bayou - Always the best card to get when fetching. ABUR duals are just great. Overgrown Tomb - The 2 life isn't that big of a cost if you need the mana immediately. Definitely worth it because fetchlands. Woodland Cemetery - Good fixing, will almost always ETB untapped. Llanowar Wastes - It is what it is. Perhaps the fixing would not be necessary if there were more fetches in the deck. Good when you need it. Twilight Mire - Amazing filtering. Turning B into GG has helped smooth things along many times. Golgari Rot Farm - I often use this to bounce Cabal Coffers when I have an extra land drop to use it again, or to re-use any ETB lands. This land is pretty great.
More Mana Lands Temple of the False God - Dead early game unless you can chain together extra lands quickly. Pretty good late game though, and being a bi-coloured deck the colorless source probably won't be an issue. Ancient Tomb - Like the Temple, there is no use restriction. The two damage adds up though. Cabal Coffers - Combined with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth this card generates ridiculous amount of mana. If you don't have it, however, there are far too few swamps for it to be useful. Always search for Urborg first if you want this combo UNLESS someone else has a Coffers. Combine with untap effects, such as Garruk Wildspeaker, Deserted Temple, Rude Awakening and X spells such as Genesis Wave, Exsanguinate, Damnable Pact, Diabolic Revelation for maximum value.
ETB Tapped Utility Lands Darkmor Salvage - Combo with Skirge Familiar and The Gitrog Monster. You discard Darkmor Salvage to Skirge and add B to your mana pool, Gitrog triggers you to draw, you replace it with the dredge from Darkmor Salvage to return it to your hand. Repeat however many times you like, eventually arrive at an Exsanguinate or another X spell. Return it to your hand with the multitudes of recursion in the deck and combo off. Barren Moor,Tranquil Thicket - Gitrog says "Pay G or B, Draw 2 cards" Life from the Loam's best friend. Bojuka Bog - Grave hate on an ETB is pretty useful, actually. Combine with Crop Rotation to spoil the GY player's shenanigans. Hissing Quaqmire - If it dies while Gitrog is on the field, it replaces itself. Deathtouch is nice on it and its best use is as a surprise blocker. Vesuva - Copy ANY land. Usually Cabal Coffers for that sweet, sweet mana. Boseiju, Who Shelters All - There are a lot of instant and sorceries in this deck, so the protection from counters is probably worth it. 3 Life to use and ETB tapped hurts, though. Mirrorpool - A lot of instants and sorceries to copy, re-usable with Loam and Crucible. Colorless is relatively easy to access when this card becomes relevant.
Doesn't Tap for Mana Lands Dark Depths - Two card combo with Thespian's Stage. Glacial Chasm - This deck doesn't do a lot of attacking, and the life loss is negligible when you're able to prevent all sources of damage from getting through to you. This card has saved me numerous times and has great synergy with The Gitrod Monster, Life from the Loam, and Crucible of Worlds to keep you protected while also drawing cards. Maze of Ith - Stops one attacker. May not be worth it in this deck since voltron decks usually have a way to give their commander hexproof, and decks that go with multitudes of creatures won't be stopped by this. If I can tutor for Glacial Chasm then when is this better?

Recursion
Noxious Revival - Good response to graveyard hate to fish out your Loam or combo
Regrowth - Returning any card is pretty great.
Fast/Free Mana
Mox Diamond - Discard a land card? That's supposed to be a downside?
Mana Vault - Turn two The Gitrog Monster seems kind of good to me.
Cadaverous Bloom - Amazing lategame fuel. This + Ad Nauseum is a win.
Skirge Familiar - Combo with Darkmor Salvage & The Gitrog Monster to dredge most of your deck, then return a wincon with one of the many recursion cards.
Draw/filter
Sensei's Divining Top - Best filtering and a good use of extra mana.
Scroll Rack - Amazing with fetchlands, Life from the Loam engine breaks this card in half.
Sylvan Library - Great selection tool and can
Damnable Pact - Can be used as a finisher in conjunction with cards like Skirge Familliar or Cadaverous Bloom.
Night's Whisper - Here to keep things running smoothly.
Horn of Greed - This deck will definitely take the most advantage out of essentially landfall: draw a card.
Harmonize - Lifesaver when you have too many lands.
Tutors
Expedition Map - Generally with the tutors that search for lands, you want to grab a cycling land if you have Life from the Loam in your hand, Reliquary tower if you have Ad Nauseum.

Combo/Wincons
Exsanguinate - It's not hard to get a ridiculus amount of mana playing this deck. Can get back life lost form Ad Nauseum and can be powered into a wincon with relatively litte effort.
Genesis Wave - This card is stupid good. Even with all the non permanent spells in this deck,
Scapeshift - Get all of your land combos at once, a ton of landfall triggers, and draw a card from Gitrod.
Planeswalkers
Nissa, Vastwood Seer - Land to hand, planeswalker side is pure card advantage. Perfect for this deck.
Garruk Wildspeaker - Untapping two lands makes this planeswalker essentially cost (2) or less when he enters, creates blockers as well.
Interaction
Beast Within - ANY permanent? Even those pesky graveyard hosers? Sign me up!
Damnation - There are very few creatures in this list. Trading a utility dork or two for a board full of creatures is generally consider a "sweet deal".
Basic Lands/Colour Fixing
Forest - 9x Forest is a good number, I think.
Fetchlands
Wooded FoothillsWindswept HeathVerdant CatacombsPolluted Delta
Fetchlands work incredibly well with The Gitrog Toad's ability. Drawing a card per fetch is incredible, and combined with Life from the Loam, Scroll Rack or Sensei's Divining Top you'll have an easy time accumulating resources. If I had access to all the fetches, I would run them. The missing ones are: Misty Rainforest, Bloodstained Mire and Marsh Flats.
More Mana Lands
Temple of the False God - Dead early game unless you can chain together extra lands quickly.
ETB Tapped Utility Lands
Darkmor Salvage - Combo with Skirge Familiar and The Gitrog Monster.
ETB Untapped Utility Lands
Dryad Arbor - Best paired with Green Sun's Zenith turn 1. Decent blocker and replaces itself when Gitrog is present. Can be fetched, too.
Shizo, Death's Storehouse - Gives The Gitrog Monster or Ob Nixilis, the Fallensome evasion.
Cabal Pit - Amazing when The Gitrog Monster. With Life from the Loam and additional land drops you can be quite effective at picking off utility creatures and even opposing commanders.
Reliquary Tower - We don' want to discard our hand after an Ad Nauseum!
Thespian's Stage - Combos with Dark Depths to create a 20/20 flying indestructible beater.
Deserted Temple - Very useful ability, usually used in conjunction with Cabal Coffers for insane mana.
Strip Mine - Blows up ANY land. If you want to be mean you use this + Crucible of Worlds + Summer Bloom to destroy someones landbase.
Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth - Works amazingly well with Cabal Coffers, fixes your black mana, and makes your lands that don't tap for mana tap for B! Such a great land card.
Doesn't Tap for Mana Lands
Dark Depths - Two card combo with Thespian's Stage.
Other card options not yet tested
