One of the best things the deck has done so far was getting Scourge of the Throne out, then next turn pay life on a shock land to lower my life below my opponent's, drop Dack's Duplicate copying the Scourge, and swing twice.
I'm trying to stay away from degenerate things. Deadeye Navigator is out of the deck for now. If I find I want to repeat ETB effects and they're not totally broken he might make a reappearance.
I figure this deck need a little more juice and a few less gimmicks. Out with stuff like Warcaller and Thragtusk, because how often am I really going to get a Blade of Selves on them and swing at 3 opponents? Overwhelming Stampede would be more reliable than Warcaller. The other Kiora might be good for this deck, but this one was not.
In with standard ramp, mana fixing, and dragon support (haste, copies, tutor, cost reduction).
I would indeed consider doing that. Piper and Ætherplasm I hadn't considered, as I was possibly putting 'plasm in another deck and don't have a Piper. Hypergenesis could work if I can make sure I get cards. Wild Pair I'd forgotten about, and there are a number of creatures with the same P/T to enable it. T+N I took out of my Ruric Thar deck, but since I won't have the temptation of an infinite combo, it might not be too ridiculous here.
Rite I just don't run anymore because it's ridiculous. I could reconsider later, but there are too many things run in my metas where kicking it means you win, but the win feels too sudden. It would be lots of fun to do so, because Scourge of Valkas would end up being 30 triggers and at least 6 damage for each trigger (180 total), and 6 total Utvara Hellkites all attacking would create 36 total 6/6 dragons. Not to mention cards that other people run. One friend had a Hagra Diabolist in his Tazri deck until someone kicked a Rite on it (125 total loss of life).
As for Maelstrom Wanderer, I have been considering moving Surrak into the 99 and testing with Wanderer as the commander. I'd want to run some bounce effects in addition to Temur Sabertooth in order to get more out of that.
