If You Smack 'Em Once and They Don't Learn, Smack 'Em Again
This is a list I've been working on for almost two years and is my favorite deck to play in multiplayer. When I built this deck my commander was originally Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, but then I discovered Aurelia and she's been at the helm ever since and Gisela joined the 99.
I've browsed lots of Aurelia lists across MTG Salvation and Tappedout and I can say my list is a little unique. I wrote up my card list and deck strategy not only to open myself up for criticisms and discussion, but to share information with anyone else who runs or wants to run Aurelia as their commander for fun games of Magic. This list is incredibly fun for me to pilot and there are enough pieces to interact that makes each game its own fun and original experience. If you have any questions, opinions, or criticisms about this list, or even Aurelia as a commander in general, then I highly encourage you to post your thoughts! I've run many cards in Aurelia and at one point she was in even tribal angels, but I'm happy with the state she is in right now. There are much more competitive builds out there, but my main purpose in building Aurelia was to construct my own unique build and to have fun.
Most of your "protection" is proactive, which is fine- but if you wanted some unexpected tricks in Boros colors then the cheap copy spells like Reverberate, Fork, and Increasing Vengeance are very hilarious and sometimes game-saving ("Cast Aurelia, the Warleader" "Mana Drain" "Reverberate your Mana Drain" "Oh noooooo!"). Rebuff the Wicked, Dawn Charm, and Lapse of Certainty are also very unexpected and interesting ways to save your skin for low mana investment.
Finally, what are your thoughts on Master Warcraft and/or Odric, Master Tactician? Similarly, Invasion Plans (while risky if you need multiple turns to set up and other 'beats' decks are swinging at you) can really allow for a blowout for cheaper than either of them.
Warlockami, thanks for the comment! I've been thinking about running Lightning Bolt and there have been a few games lately where I would have loved to see it in my hand, so I think I'm going to try seeing how it runs in the deck. I didn't see this comment, so my late reply finds us after the banning of Prophet of Kruphix, but one of my friends runs a Derevi, Empyrial Tactician deck and I could see it coming in handy against him. I ran a few copy spells at one point, but eventually those spots were given to lower cmc creatures in order to allow me to have a board presence before Aurelia hits in case people start coming after me. Master Warcraft is a card that would be interesting in an Aurelia deck depending on the build someone is going for. I ran it for a little bit, but went for extra combat steps in favor of getting to declare blockers because often people don't have flying blockers so I would rather be able to swing Aurelia multiple times and get in that commander damage rather than have that card sit in my hand (which it often wound up doing). I never ran Odric, Master Tactician, but I think the same can be said for him as with Master Warcraft, that it really depends on the type of build. Invasion Plans has always terrified me because if someone does get a creature bigger than Aurelia with flying out I will lose her and that sets me back the turns it will take me to drop lands in order to cast her.
