This is an intro to Stormy Combo Grenzo, Dungeon Warden deck and I'll be updating this thread slowly...
Intro:
I've been playing EDH for the past 5-6 years. I tried everything from Mono-blue through every two-or-three-color combination to all-color decks. My most favorite generals are, in no particular order, Child of Alara, Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge, Azami, Lady of Scrolls or Titania, Protector of Argoth. That said, I probably tried most of the generals that are considered to be good. I get bored easily though, so I rebuild my decks again and again. This time, I'll try to stick to one, because I find it refreshing, innovative and fun most of all. Another thing about me is that I hate losing, so expect this deck to have ways to win the game. This is not a chaos, group-hugging, Pokémon tribal iteration.
Why play Grenzo?
- Why not!? Grenzo is awesome. So are you if you are playing this deck.
- Because you have suicidal tendencies (when it comes to MtG).
- Because you embrace storm, combo, recursion, discard, randomness, cheats.
- Because you want to beat that Jace, the Mind Sculptor fateseal lock that you hated in Alara-Zendikar-Mirrodin standard.
- Because you are tired of playing counterspells and people looking at you for approval of their spell.
- Because you hate when goblins lose in like every fantasy book, movie or TV show.
- Because you hate playing more than 30 lands.
Why would you want to not play Grenzo? (Again, why???)
- You like blue, counterspells and ruining fun for other people. This deck has only one conditional counterspell.
- You like green big overcosted monsters, ramping with lands, enchantment destruction. You also claim that green is the best color in EDH.
- You like white, trillions of boring angels (don't worry, I have Anya deck, too), Avacyn is what you want to end up with every game, then Armageddon.
- You like any combination of blue, green, white and purple.
- Or maybe you are a hardcore fan of Bilbo and Frodo, meaning that you hate goblins, ogres, bad guys, maybe even life.
Q&A:
- How to play this deck?
- Well. There is no established way to correctly play this deck. So ... just improvise! Even if you fail - it will be fun!
- How to not play this deck?
- That's easier to answer. Do not be afraid of doing things and running into counterspells. Go for it! If they stop you - recharge batteries and do it again!
- How to play archenemy with this deck when everyone attacks you from turn one?
- Truth is, it's a very unlikely scenario that you get attacked early because ... your general is almost always out turn 1 or 2.
- What are the most hateful cards opponents can you against you?
- Probably a combination of Rest in Peace, Rule of Law, Leyline of Sanctity and Ghostly Prison. Pillow Fort is a bad matchup if they manage to roll out lots of hate. Containment Priest is annoying, too. Try to kill players with cards like that as quickly as you can.
I have divined your fate. You shall find your nemesis, a catastrophic clash. Devastation, misery for all, the unleashing of horrible curses and ferocious powers. Ruin, such ruin that I dream each night of blessed peace, assured that the universe is in balance once more...
