****SPOILER ALERT****
Commander is not printed yet.

This deck attempts to play board control, life drain and possible Voltron beats using the new Commander.
If you don't like triggers, don't play this deck.
EDIT: It's a few cards over 100 and needs a few cuts.
Simple synergies:
-Soul Sisters = For every 3 creatures that enter the battlefield, Karlov can exile one
-Blood Artist effect = For every 3 creatures that die, Karlov can exile one
-Righteous Cause effect = For every 3 creatures that attack, Karlov can exile one
-Sanguine Bond/Exquisite Blood combo, though you don't usually need to play it (unfun)
Karlov can also just go beatdown, as he will get huge quickly if unanswered.
The curve is relatively low as you want to start amassing triggers early and you will probably use most of your mana on Karlov's ability of recasting your Commander.
There are other creatures that grow when you gain life, so as a plan B you can just beat down with them. Alternately, you can try to win by playing defense, padding your life total and slowly draining people out. This is a deck that can easily play the aggressor as early as needed but can also just sit back, play D, and let other people duke it out.
Suggestions welcome! I don't play a whole lot of Commander these days.
I know when I was thinking about this deck, I was more worried about smaller, repeatable triggers rather than upkeep triggers. An idea was trying ALL the smaller (cmc 2 and less) extort creatures in order to help reach that critical mass besides being cheap bodies to cast for to trigger Soul sisters. I'd also thought about Staff of the Sun Magus and Staff of the Death Magus but I wasn't ready to go that deep. I also play Pontiff of Blight but it maybe be a ltitle too expensive.
I'm torn between Lord of Innistrad and Solemn Visitor myself. I like Lord of Innistrad in a vacuum since with a Soul sister he gets me 1 guaranteed life trigger gain + 1 more next turn off the lifelinking token by himself. But Solemn Visitor is a blowout with the ifelink on an already established board off Lingering Souls or Spectral Procession.
Speaking of Planeswalkers, I wanted to try Ajani, Caller of the Pride and Elspeth, Knight-Errant, besides Elspeth Tirel. It feels like every white planeswalker has synergy with Karlov or at least Soul sisters. I like giving Karlov flying and power boosts so he can get through with his fatness for the kill.
EDIT: Just read Leonin Elder, that's a cute card! I have to try that one, I never heard of it.
They didn't care that he was the savior of Fort Keff, the great hunter of Ondu, the champion of Kabira. To them, he was just another piece of flesh, a thing with life to be drained away.
Yeah, I too was focused more on efficient repeatable triggers (whenever a creature ETB, whenever a creature dies, whenever a player plays a land, whenever a creature attacks) that are just going to trigger a ton of times per turn cycle naturally as people play multiplayer Magic. One trigger per upkeep (e.g. Ivory Tower) was less interesting to me, since space is limited. Hence no Drana's Emissary and friends. Ain't got time to wait for that.
Sun Droplet triggers each upkeep though, and is very cheap. It's going in!
Extort + low curve seemed strong. I run some of the cheap extort guys. Some just look like bad Magic cards (Syndic of Tithes), but maybe the synergy is good enough to run them anyway.
I debated between the two Sorins. In a token-heavy build or more aggressive build with Anthems, Solemn Visitor is definitely better. But if most of your team isn't attacking (1/x and 2/x dorks with triggered abilities), you don't get as much mileage out of +1/+0 and lifelink. Personally, I like getting to +1 and make a lifelinking token, also triggering Soul Sisters or Deathgreeter effects. Other builds that want to attack more would probably love Solemn Visitor.
Elspeth Tirel seems great. Forgot about her completely. She's definitely going in. Ajani, Caller of Pride works for the beatdown plan. Rogue's Passage and Shizo are easy to squeeze in.

Delaying Shield is awesome in lifegain decks because it negates commander damage. Polluted Bonds is great for multiple triggers per turn. Pristine Talisman ramps and gains life every turn. Well of Lost Dreams is great card draw and goes well with Ivory Tower and/or Venser's Journal
