After some meta changes for better or worse that happened at my LGS, I can't just play Food Chain Prossh anymore, mostly because this was my semi-competitive deck, not meant to deal with a blue heavy meta. My main focus currently is beating, or staving off, the currents decks to beat, which are Flying Men Edric, Charbelcher Planeswalker Teferi, and a very Artifact Heavy Merieke with about 3 clunky combo finishes. Two have one thing in common, they target players for all there combo finishes and the other attempts to win with combat damage. So with that in mind Solitary Confinement came to mind as something that could stop them for a time, and very quickly after Zur came to mind. Now, this isn't your typical Zur build with tons of Enchantments to seek out, just a small suite of the key enchantments then some search and a combo finish using Ad Nauseam, or one big EoT Necropotence (with Reliquary Tower) for about 20 or so to get where I can cast Repay in Kind. It did start out as a Sidisi, Undead Vizier edh, but once my playgroup caught on (and by that I mean after three times of playing with it), I now need some control elements to help me protect the Ad Nauseam (they already know it's hopeless afterward). This is what I came up with:
So as you can see the main idea is to pound out Zur and turn him sideways once to nab Phyrexian Unlife and then Ad Nauseam my deck into my hand to go Lotus Petal into Dark Ritual into Ornithopter into Culling the Weak (doesn't even need Threshold) into Cabal Ritual into Repay in Kind with Force of Will, Pact of Negation, Daze, and Mental Misstep (very niche, but works) as free protection. The rest of it is to keep me alive until that turn. Thoughts, opinions, questions? If you think you can do better, tell me, I'd love to hear it before I buy all the missing pieces to make it into this current version.
Cards I would use if I could afford them currently (but will buy once I can):
-ABUR Duals
-Mana Drain
Repay in Kind? Never heard of it but it's a nice play though. Go to hell and then drag your opponents down with you.
Two key important cards you're missing though are Spellbook and Scroll Rack. Spellbook is just an extra Reliquary Tower and as a bonus it is tutorable with Trinket Mage and Enlightened Tutor. Scroll Rack is for those times when you Necro big but whiff. This happens to every Zur player and the ability to filter your cards after a big Necro is great to have.
There is an open debate among the Zur players I have talked to about RiP/Helm combo. On on hand it's a tight and efficient single player killer but on the other hand it prevents you from playing the ultimate "don't call it a comeback" card Yawgmoth's Will.
Welcome to the degenerate world of playing Zur like the bad person everyone wishes they could be. Probably the greatest thing about Zur is that you can customize him in so many different ways and yet have every card be relevant because of the amount of filtering, card draw available to him. The worst thing is the hyper-inflated cost of foil Zur.
For reference here is my list. Control/combo currently set up to combat Derevi.

"Those who are skilled in combat do not become angered,
those who are skilled at winning do not become afraid.
Thus the wise win before the fight, while the ignorant fight to win."
Repay in Kind is just my go to solution when I have to deal with having 0 or less life. It takes a ton of mana, and the rituals I have to run with are dead cards until I have a win, which is my biggest problem. I'd much rather run Power Artifact + Monoliths into Exsanguinate, but that combo it's a tad bit up there on the price scale currently (already budgeted out with the changes I'm making to this deck).
Scroll Rack is an easy enough change by dropping Anticipate (I hate this card only goes 3 deep instead of 4), though Spellbook is another story entirely as I'm not sure what to drop. Suggestions?
And I know of the world of Zur. I used to play him online as a Voltron Commander when he was still 1v1 legal, which ids why he came to mind so quickly when my meta changed from Artifact heavy to Control heavy. I'm honestly not sure why I want playing him in the first place (Yes I am, Tuck.) Though, I don't care for foils, so Zur can be as inflated as he wants foil-wise.
