I've built what I reckon is a fairly ordinary casual Doran EDH deck, and I was hoping for a hand tuning it and deciding which, if any, expensive cards are worth picking up for it. Here's the deck:
I've also got some cards that I own (hah, this is ALL the cards I own other than the above) and might want to include. Quietus Spike is probably going in, Utopia Sprawl or another 1-drop piece of ramp, too. Some of these are harder. Is Indomitable Ancients worth a slot? Argentum Armor?
There are also some cards, mostly cheap but some $2-10, that I'm giving serious thought to buying and including. Which of these are easy swaps for stuff that's in there, or obviously a good value for the 5 bucks? (Like, I'm thinking Sylvan Caryatid would be a no-brainer if I feel like paying the money.)
Beyond that, are there any balance issues I'm missing? Will I wish I had some way to fish enchantments out of my graveyard? Do I really need 6 pieces of power-hate in this deck?
I've had a Doran deck for quite a few years and have tried a lot of different things with it. I never really liked running vanilla creatures with a high toughness because they're ineffective without Doran on the field. Rather, look for creatures that have abilities and also happen to have a high toughness. Some of my absolute favorite toughness matters cards that I don't see here are Rhox Faithmender, Eidolon of Rhetoric, and Magus of the Tabernacle. I'm not sure if Avenger of Zendikar] is out of your budget but making his 0/1 tokens effectively 1/1s is surprising strong. Also Fell the Mighty and Wave of Reckoning] are great board wipes.
EDIT: For convenience I've got this up on tappedout. Sideboard is cards I own, Maybeboard is cards I don't.
