So like many I have been after a Jeskai artifact general for quite a while. Blue and red have a lot of playable artifact support in this format, and white brings equipment synergy. Narset, the Enlightened Master offered potential, but is by far best built Voltronning out or abusing extra turns. Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest has a good level of synergy with equipment, thanks to his potential double strike and the fact that artifacts proc his Prowess ability, so he seemed like the just the job to lead this kind of deck.
The concept here is to use equipment and mana rocks to proc Shu Yun and load him and other creatures with good equipment, first and foremost Sunforger which has amazing synergy, while taking advantage of blue's artifact support and white's utility creatures. The idea is to avoid a direct Voltron route to the win, and also to avoid a common Shu Yun build using tons of instants and sorceries, which is vulnerable to tucking.
So there's a first draft of the decklist (season to taste with basic lands) intended for 1v1. Any suggestions? I haven't seen many similar builds, so there is probably some nice synergy to be found that I haven't spotted. There are a lot of potential cuts that need a try out first, but there is a lot of room for improvement whilst remaining true to the theme, so have at it. A few thoughts:
Worth including Monastery Mentor for more board presence?
Worth including Sword of Fire and Ice, despite it granting protection from Shu Yun's ability?
Are any other 'walkers worth a slot here?
What about Etched Champion? Metalcraft is easy to activate in here, but he is not targettable by SYtST.
The non-basic lands are just an initial draft. Lots of room for input there.
