"We shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender." ~ Winston Churchill ~
Hey Everyone,
I'll explain that quote in a bit So your going to have to try and bare with me, I'm brand new to this forum and this is my first thread post. I'm really excited on trying to develop my new commander deck that I put together combining some of my favorite aspects of MTG and more specifically my favorite format, Commander. The theme of my deck is Artifact based .... my favorite!! It stems from a Daretti deck I was running that I really enjoyed; however in my meta was having a ton of issues with my commander being targeted & tucked thus for the most part essentially shutting down my deck I then started searching other Artifact deck's and stumbled upon a couple primer's with Arcum Dagsson at the helm. These deck(s) are very well thought out and very powerful; however I'm not one to run a bunch of counters and found due to the mono blue aspect of the deck it was essential for these deck to run 6-8 counters in order to protect their win-cons. Don't get me wrong, I'm not totally opposed to running counter's but don't want to have to rely on them either.
So this bring me to where I am with my deck choice today ... Love Artifacts supported with both blue and red cards ..... *Enter stage left* ..... Nin, the Pain Artist. Now to explain the quote from the beginning of my thread .... I've always wanted to create a deck that has the possibility for abusing your Library, Hand and Graveyard to cheat cards into play (Thus the Winston Churchill Lands, Sea and Air quote) centralized around a powerful deck theme .... Artifacts. As you'll see in the deck I run a bunch of different cards that allow for this type of interaction. I'm not going to go to deep into the deck/ card choice's quite yet as it's a very rough draft and instead am looking to answer questions, get feedback, get suggestions, etc. to help see if I can make this a viable Commander deck that will be able to hold it's own! With out further ado ......
transmute artifact is better than reshape, but its pricey. And since you have cloud key, etherium sculptor, and sensei's top, you might consider future sight and magus of the future for infinite card draw.
three cards that I strongly recommend are: power artifact - turns your monoliths/mana vault into infinite mana. metalworker - great mana boost and it goes infinite with staff of domination and some artifacts in hand. cyclonic rift - the best blue removal around, and its cheap.
Some cards you might take out for them:
spin into myth
dizzy spell
goblin cannon
muddle the mixutre is a great spell too. A 2cmc counterspell that can also tutor is pretty sweet.
This is my Nin deck. As far as I can discern, this is the first Nin Welder list out there. It runs like clockwork and is extremely powerful. It is a brutally competitive combo deck that takes advantage of the multiple Goblin Welder type cards available to both blue and red. The idea is to get one of the many infinite mana combos available to the colors then kill people with Nin (or draw your deck with Nin and do it again). She is a win condition or she is Braingeyser and a repeatable source of removal that lives in your Command zone.
My thread has a section about budget versions. I built my version to be as brutal as possible, so it takes advantage of things like Mishra's Workshop and Bazaar of Baghdad. The list is, overall, land-light because it plays such a huge concentration of rocks. Generating colored mana is its biggest weakness.
Nin has fallen to the wayside in my roster in favor of Kurkesh, Onakke Ancient. The friend I built the Nin list for originally still pilots it though. I'm working on updating the Nin list right now. It gained Daretti, Scrap Savant, Scrap Mastery, and maybe Feldon of the Third Path since my last update in addition to the unbanning of Metalworker. In short, it's received a lot of cards since my posted version, so I need quite the handful of cuts.
Nin is crazy powerful and crazy fast. I fishbowl between T3 and T5 most of the time (though T3 is rare without Ring/Crypt). And the deck is surprisingly resilient later game. Here's my list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/01-02-15-nin-artifact-edh/
On my chopping block are Nevinyyrral's Disk and Darksteel Forge. Honestly, the combo isn't very good, especially when Nin can win by herself with easier-to-assemble combos. And I don't much like either card on its own. The main theme of the deck isn't cheating artifacts. I'm not playing Daretti. Though, this deck was originally transformed from a Daretti deck which is probably why the Disk/Forge combo is still in here.
I'd love some others' input. I'm trying to make the deck at least somewhat fun to play against without making it weaker. Though maybe that's not possible
Also, got some alters done as I foil out the deck. Most importantly:

Still, it works, and works well.
Stuffy Doll is too fun to not use alongside Nin, and these decks provide a plethora of ways to reset the Doll.
Cheers!

Chrome Mox should probably be Mox Diamond, or include both.

Another build I know cuts lots of the creatures with tap abilities (Master Transmuter, Arcum Dagsson, and even Goblin Welder) in favor of more digging cards (e.g. Dig Through Time, Ponder), instant/sorcery recursion (e.g. Snapcaster Mage, Past in Flames), and countermagic (e.g. Arcane Denial). But I'm trying to make the deck at least somewhat interactive. Players waiting for me to dig is not.
