I took this paper list down for now. I like that it was not linear and kind of a unique thing. I hated relying on my general so much. If anyone adops this list, the first 3 cuts should be marton, sigil pest, and Conquerer's pledge. ANd in general the cmc is pretty high for storm, be casreful adding mroe high cmc things. The tokens are a nice resource to use, but could be a lot more seemless with green / black. Playing straight U/R storm with narset seems stronger, as obviously does the extra turn atk phase version. Oh well, time to move on to other stormish ventures.
This is the shell I have been testing for Narset, Enlightened Master. It is a storm deck that leans on creatures. My goal is get it to be able to play a limited aggro game but not lose out on its ability to storm.
Deck History and goals:
I have been testing decks that can storm lately but can do other things like aggro or control. Some have been decent although they mostly have been terrible so far. I am really excited for Narset because she offers some unique card advantage: Firing off mini Mind's desires allow for all sorts of RWU decks that weren't previously possible, or a a little week. (I bet she makes a mean control commander in either traditional or stax flavors). In this deck, she seems to do just what I want, allowing me to play with a sub theme but still get some crazy storm counts early. It is much stronger then my other storm decks with subthemes have been.
This version of Narset is going to try to get as much in on each turn as possible. I am using combat steps to get more Narset triggers, but also to get more damage in via tokens. Initial testing shows some ok damage without my general out. (I almost got an early pre general kill in one of my first testing games) I really hope to see if that works as a feasible way to stop blue control if they plan to counter a lot of my "more important" extra combat phases or draw or other storm enablers. Turns out extra untaps from bonus combat step cards with Goblin Welder (or Jeskai Ascendancy with welder) and some mana rocks or memory vault is really good too. There are a few other really broken cards I can use to leverage tokens too, like skull clamp and viscous shadows.
The deck below is what I am goldfishing in Cockatrice right now, the paper deck I was testing had a little more removal/counters in it. For the posted version, I had to cut a few more cards then I wanted and wasn't sure how this engine would work so I took out some cards that don't help goldfishing much to see what parts of the basic engine work well. This version has most all the engine pieces I really want, but am still keeping an eye out for weak links in order to give the deck a little more speed and resiliency. This list is fine though as is for a semi competitive meta. It could definitely still use a few tweeks and stand to lose a pet card or 2.
Notable Exlusions: Snapcaster Mage- Narset can not proc into him; I have mana intense turns and he would be a tempro loss. Chain of Vapor - is an amazing storm card; I have to many good things I don't want to lose here, like my haste enablers, key enchants, Welder etc. Sadly It doesnt seem to be something that good here.
The 'Optimal' way of doing this probably involves losing Marton and battlecry. In fact, optimizing it, probably removes all the tokens+ support and goes pure storm with the general just to kick start dead games. I would love for this to work with aggro as an option though, so I will be messing around with it for a while. That might also let me have stronger plays if the general is tucked, or possibly even let me play around (or straight through) stax type control a little better. This same deck shell would work great as spellslinger voltron + storm. To do that drop all the token stuff and add a few equips instants and enchants to take there place. That would also free up a few slots for more defense and probably get the cmc a little lower. It would have a way different feal though. If anyone is curious as what that might look like, I can edit this list and add a list of what I would design for that version to this thread.
I am really mainly trying to figure out what to cut at this point. But am def still up for testing any good ideas.
-island - plains - in the web of war +fervor +spellweaver volute +hammer of purph
[EDH] It's built to be a casual format and to a specific vision, and if you don't like the vision, there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not going to change to accommodate everyone. Big tent is not a goal.
I really like what I see here the tokens is an interesting take on her abilities.
I started building Narset and have some similar spell choices, but I went with the storm/time magic semi-voltrony aspect of her sans tokens.
If you're up for it I can post my list here and we can bounce ideas off one another.
Yah, definitely post away. I've only moved into time magic in 'storm' once and it clearly allowed some great plays and an alternate way of spellslinging. I would like to see what you got going on with her.

Basically lots of rocks to try to power her out early - Generator Servant is there for this sole purpose. Haven't drawn him yet...but I imagine hasty Narset turn 3 will be bananas.

Just to make sure that I am making suggestions the right direction, your game plan is to try to swing with Narset once and then finish the game without anyone else getting a turn again, right? It looks like you have things geared to try to have the deck able to play though itself, or a significant chunk of itself at least. Not a lot of ways to win outside of commander damage with a few buffs that I see. (Not that this is good or bad or anything, just wanna try to understand where your going with it so I keep my posts relevant.) Also before I make suggestions is there anything that your play group considers faux pas (like combos or long turns) I should avoid. I probably have some suggestions of cuts for you to consider or cards that might be a little more efficient in those slots.
Generator Servant is new to me, that is a slick little card. You also made me realize my deck might be a little abstract organised like that. I should do a by type and a little explanation of game plan and add a description for a few of the cards and synergies... thanks for that (=

GS is pretty cool tech - and organization of the deck will definitely help a lot in discussing it.
I'd love to hear your suggestions. As it stands now, the primary way to win is through general damage via taking many many turns or many many combat steps. There is also Grapeshot which can storm for 30 or more depending on how often I can recycle my library (enter the infinite + time spiral / time reversal).
Any ideas you have either way - voltron or non-infinite turns is welcome

Overall I see the theme your going for with this. Some cards I would consider moving around. If it were me I would probably cut all of the following. Keep in mind we all play mtg differently and I might be missing some things.
Disdainful Stroke is not a very versatile counter. Swan Song, Arcane Denial are both budget and probably do what you want a little better. Flying Crane Tenchnique is a really expensive spell. Would Psychotic Fury, Reckless charge, Drake Umbra, or leap work better?
The modes on Jeskai Charm Seem pretty limited to me, what are your plans for it? Weave Fate seems too expensive for what it does. Fact or Fiction and deep analysts are probably better 4 drop draw spells. I love wheels too and would recomend trying WHeel of Fortune or (and) windfall... wtf I didnt have windfall in this version, i know its in my paper deck I wonder whats different :S . Also on draw, Frantic Search Draws, Ramps and adds to storm... def worth a try. Mana Geyser can be amazing. I found for me I as often as not never got any good uses out of it. Very frustrating card for me and with random flips... im not sure. Stitch in time might be low mana, but it also has half a chance to fizzle. I dont like adding more random to a deck that doesnt want to brick. Maybe try some recursion like past in flames or another draw spell? World at War only affects your first combat phase each turn. Bad to fork, bad to flip with N unless you get time magic too. (Also forking extra attack phases in general can be meh. You get the extra phases but both untaps happen as the spells resolve before either attack phase.) Quiet Contemplation is kind of cool, but a maybe a mana sink in a mana hungry deck. Might be better with a bulk draw spell or wheel? Sphere of Safety - Are there other things you would rather do with 5 mana? Even if a few attacks get off, who cares?
Chandra.. if you have more PW that fit here, they go well with extra turns. Venser seems great, unblockable and the ult can be a win con. OG Jayce is good too, but man is that one expensive. Butchers Cleaver seems high mana for effect. Runechanters pike or leering emblem maybe?
Mana Rocks, your missing the WR signet and the WU talisman. 2 Drop rocks are great. Expidition map takes 3 mana and Citp tapped. I like the card but maybe more come into play untapped rocks would be better to take advantage of narset triggers.
----------------------------------
If your not going to do that thing I saw BigBearKyle mention with Proteous Staff and no creatures some creatures might be ok? Other wincons could be Guttersnipe (Its obviously more delicats, but its like a tendrils to each player, might be worth testing). I have also won games with bounce and ignite memories, but this could not be the best deck for it? Probably depends on your meta. Remand doubles your storm cards. Mana severance might ensure that combo you mentioned.
Jeskai Ascendancy has been fantastic for me. Only problem so far is one of each color can be hard, sometimes I can cast general instead. IF I have a few creatures out when its on, it is insane how fast the power flares up. I would recommend trying goblin welder out if you have one around. (He is good alone even if just to mess with opponents artifacts) He is great with all the untapping going on. Each extra turn he can move rocks in and out of GY. Welder Ascendancy and a few rocks is insane. Cast a spell= loot one and add 1+ mana to pool and all your creatures get +!/+1... such value.
And last Decree of silence seems winmore in a lot of these Narset decks. Yah it protects you but we already have to fight *****ty starting hands at these curves. Keep an eye on how it does for you. (Im genuinely CUrious)
----------------------------------
As sort of a general thing with storming is trying to keep the mana low. Narset kind of lets people skip that with combat phase = 4 points of minds desire. One goal I keep in mind when trying play storm in edh is have a deck with enough engine space the deck can just sort of keep chugging along (normally on same turn but extra turns=free turnabouts and attack phases in exchange for your storm... acceptable), Narset is cheating haha.
If you would like me to clarify anything or wanna discuss anything I mentioned feal free to bring it up.
