I play casual EDH with my friends, but I just recently decided to switch to French Commander rules as suggested by a commenter below :D. We basically solely play 1v1 which is my preference, so I am looking to delve into making an Esper EDH deck. Below is the deck list that I have worked on for the last few weeks. I wouldn't say it's "budget," but I am not looking to buy cards like Force of Will, Cryptic Command, fetch lands/dual lands, and other such cards, so I agree and am aware they belong in the deck, but I cannot afford them. I would greatly appreciate feedback, comments, cards that should be removed or replaced, and the like! This is also my first post on mtgsalvation, although I've been using this forum for a while, so if I did something wrong please let me know.
The theme of the deck is control/mid range with lots of card draw. I'm not really into combos so the deck completely lacks them. I feel like the deck tries to do a lot at once, possibly, so I am interested in constructive criticism. The mana base also might need adjustment; I've yet to really play test it.
I also just posted my deck on tapped out under the deck name "Sen Triplets EDH Midrange." (I can't post links yet, but if you would like to take a look there instead, it would be much appreciated. I like the pie graphs/average CMC/statistics that the site has.)
Are you playing Regular EDH or Duel Commander? Sol Ring is banned in French EDH and legal in regular EDH.
We just play regular EDH, and we haven't used the French EDH ban list. I could replace the sol ring with another island or maybe an Azorius Signet? Thanks for checking my deck out!
Strip mine is also not allowed in the french ban-list. If you play regular EDH games, but end up just going head to head, and not playing in multiplayer games, you can try to lower the mana cost of your spells, to have a faster deck than your opponent. More sweepers are also needed if you plan to go on a longer game before you pull of a win. Day of judgement, decree of pain, wrath of god, and supreme verdict are not that expensive I believe.
Good luck with the deck, and hope you decide to switch to French EDH.

I think you may have convinced me to switch to French Commander! I just read the rules, and I very much like them. Should I remove cards like Recurring Insight and Decree of Silence? I originally had Decree of Pain, but I cut it because of the high mana cost and that it won't consistently draw me a lot of cards like the aforementioned Recurring Insight.
I'm going to remove Strip Mine and Sol Ring for an Island and Plains I think...
You are welcome Christophalex. You should cut those two cards as they are better in multiplayer games, than in duels. Start changing things up with your spot removal spells and counters too. Go for the theoat, path to exile, and other cheaper removals could come in. Mana leak, counterspell, daze, condescend and force spike are good in duels too.
Anyway, just swap out some expensive costing spells, with lower mana cost and similar function cards, then play the heck out of the deck, and don't stop tweaking it.
Again, good luck in building this to be more steamlined.

Those are great suggestions for lower CMC removal and I will definitely remove those more expensive CMC cards.
Definitely just going to have to continually play test it until its perfect then keep editing it more and more! Thanks again, I'm going to have to start buying these cards and put it together slowly. I will post updates when the deck is functioning and how it performs
