I'm heading to GenCon in a week and wanted to get some input on a couple of lists I've been working on (the second one is here). I normally only play 1v1 EDH, and it's been a while since I've built any multiplayer decks. The last time I seriously played multi EDH, Prime Time was still legal (and the last time I played multiplayer EDH at all was last year at GenCon), so suffice it to say, I could use some fresh perspective.
I'm an insufferable individualist when it comes to choosing generals, so even though Maelstrom Wanderer is more popular as a RUG general, I wanted to go with Intet. I also had an Intet brew for 1v1 EDH that was surprisingly successful and a lot of fun to play. I love his effect and getting great value out of otherwise unplayable cards is something I love to do in multiplayer EDH.
The basic idea of the deck is simple: get Intet out, swing with him, then use things like Mystical Tutor, Worldly Tutor, and other cards that manipulate the top of my library to ensure that I can exile a big scary spell with him. Sadly, with things like Emrakul and Prime Time banned in multiplayer, I can't really abuse Intet as much as I could in 1v1 (Emrakul was especially satisfying, since unlike other cheatyface techniques, with Intet you actualy cast him so you get the extra turn), but there's still some good stuff to find. My favorite options for creatures are Jin Gitaxias, Core Augur and Knollspine Dragon (casting him after hitting with Intet means at least 6 cards). A favorite play of mine, however, is to use Mystical Tutor to find Time Stretch, and then use Intet himself + Kessig Wolf Run to kill at least one, if not two opponents with general damage during the extra turns.
I've avoided using stuff like Blightsteel Colossus and Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, even though these are pretty popular finishers in this kind of deck. I've never liked Blightsteel, mainly because it's a huge and obvious target, and once someone drops one, the table will do its best to get rid of it pronto. Ulamog doesn't feel like enough value to me here. Jin-Gitaxias or Knollspine can draw me a ton of cards, Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger can utterly disrupt the table (I've found through the years playing EDH that once Vorinclex drops, no one wants to use their own resources to kill him, since it means putting themselves at a disadvantage; often times the table will bide their time and bicker about who's going to get rid of it, sometimes for multiple turns), and the extra turn cards can potentially help me kill off a couple opponents.
Generally, I'm treating this deck more or less as toolbox control: I want to get a lot of value out of everything I play, and wear down the table in the process. I've slotted in a lot of countermagic because once Intet gets going and the table figures out what kind of shenanigans I can get up to, protecting him becomes a lot harder.
Suggestions are welcome. I know from testing that my general strategy is sound, but like I said, I'm rusty with multiplayer EDH, so I'm not too sure if I've got a good threat density, good spread of removal options, and other such deck composition issues.
