Hey everyone, I'm still a learning magic player and I really like EDH from what I've played so far. This is the deck I've got thrown together so far. I had about 130 cards to start with and these are the 100 I've (tentatively) narrowed it down to, but there's obviously still a ton of room for improvement. It was built on a pretty limited budget, and its not super competitive either. What I'm hoping for is any and all suggestions, criticisms, advice, etc. that can help me make this deck as good as it can be.
What is my intention?: To give myself a decent shot at a win, but also be able to have fun in a loss.
Why Melek?: He just screams fun. It might not be the most competitive commander, but he guarantees a good time and a bit of chaos.
Competition: Multiplayer games (3-5 people), with the average deck being more competitive than casual.
Fun and enjoyment is the name of the game for this deck, but that doesn't mean I don't want it to be somewhat competitive. That's where I need help, my knowledge of magic is very limited since I'm still quite new to the game. I'm a fast learner and I'm eager to get this deck going and in as good of playable shape as I can get it. Without further ado, here's what I've got together so far:
Needless to say, my first order of business is finding out what I need to cut out of the deck. It totals somewhere around 120 cards as it stands. Initially I had even more, but many of these were basic red burn spells that just don't seem to have a big enough impact to warrant taking up a spot in the deck when their are much higher impact cards available.
The second order of business would then be finding out what is in the deck (after getting my initial card list down to 100) that doesn't need to be. I'm sure there are still plenty of cards out there for a very low price that are still very ideal additions to the deck. Basically any number of card singles I can get for around 5 bucks or less is something I'd be happy to grab and fit in as soon as I can get my hands on it.
With that I think the deck should be very easily in a playable state and from there I can proceed to make more significant moves like big card purchases to help bolster the deck. I'd rather avoid dropping money on these right away as I'd much rather grab something like 4 good cards for 5 bucks each than one great rare card for 20 bucks. So unless these big buys are really "must haves" for the deck I'd rather put them under my future considerations. Ideally I'd get there eventually, but for the time being I'd prefer to work my way up; the exception being cards that still sort of on the cheap and would never leave the deck (cards like sol ring, caged sun).
With all of that said, have at it. I'm completely open to any and all suggestions. I'm probably one of the least experienced players/deckbuilders on this forum so I can use all of the help I can get. This is my first real attempt at building (and actually physically making) a deck, and I really want to make it as good as I can.
I have a RUG storm deck I play all the time, which evolved from an Izzet list that used Tibor and Lumia as the general. One of my best decks honestly. That should get you moving in the right direction.

And I should also mention, these are a list of some cards I've been eyeing for the deck. I'm wondering if anyone could let me know which of them would actually be worth adding into the deck and which ones wouldn't really work. I want to know which I should go ahead and buy and which to pass on:
