Many people see Goblins, and they think Mono-R Krenko and the utter destruction the horde of them together can cause. Sure, Krenko is explosive, but what is that missing?
Green.
This color gives the goblin deck tutoring like no one should have access too. It gives the goblin deck access to ramp, and untold amounts of mana. It gives more recursion. More combos. More resilience. More Engines. More Card Draw.
For Those Interested:
You'd love to play this deck for its explosiveness. I recall one game where I had a Beetleback Chief in play as my only non-land permanent and won that turn.
For those Gobbos, you'd love this if you like Goblins.
If you're a johhny- this has so many combos, much more than the two-or three two or three card combos.
If you like quick games- The earliest this deck can win is on turn 3 (maybe two, haven't quite worked it out yet).
You love doing crazy things.
You'd not like this if your playgroup cares about length of game.
You like interacting with your opponents.
You don't like being the table-target.
Deck History
One day, about two months ago, I decided I wanted to brew. Anything. Usually the brewing process goes something like:
- I make a deck
- Its bad
- I scrap the idea
- I move on.
But this deck is not bad and extremely fun! Thus I have stuck with it and added some minor changes but the entirety of the deck remains intact.
Card Options
Now, some of these cards look weird, but I assure you they all have a purpose.
Let's go over some of the more controversial ones.
Food Chain- This card produces UNPRECEDENTED amounts of mana. This is best utilized with Goblin Recruiter or Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. It may seem clunky at first, but once you play with it, you'll see how much you can do, especially since most of the goblins have ETB effects and then you can discard them after that. In addition, you can build up storm count or draw triggers off of Glimpse of Nature or Empty the Warrens by exiling Wort over and over again hopefully with a token doubler in play.
Earthcraft- If partnered with Goblin Warchief, it basically makes all your token making goblins free. If needed, it can also be a giant ritual effect almost doubling your mana.
Zealous Conscripts- It untaps Birthing Pod, can steal other creatures for sacrificing effects, and can untap any other of your tappy tappy goblins. Overall nice utility card.
Aluren- This one is probably the most controversial, as without Horned Kavu, you can't go infinite. That being said, the ability to substitute for Food Chain after a Goblin Recruiter and the fact that you can pair this with a Glimpse of Nature effect is really powerful.
Not Good Enough: Horned Kavu- This card just doesn't do enough on its own. If it was a goblin, it would make it into the list 100%. Too bad Stingscourger says opponents' creatures only.
Greater Good- Most of these creatures have power less than 3, so this will mostly be card disadvantage, unfortunately.
Holistic Wisdom- Sacrifice a Goblin with a resource converter that turns creatures into mana (Skirk Prospector, Mana Echoes) and another resource converter that turns spells into cards (Soul of the Harvest) and you can produce some major resources. Outside of synergy, its always nice to have some recursion, and this recursion is repeatable. The problem is, you often don't have enough cards in hand when you need to return something. I would almost always have more draw.
Strategy:
Honestly, the strategy that works best depends on your opening hand. For example, if you have Shared Animosity/Coat of Arms/Márton Stromgald in your opening it is best to go for the aggro route. But if you have the Food Chain/Goblin Recruiter combo, it is best to go for that. Most of the time you will be doing something very degenerate, so mostly you're going to be on the combo plan but occasionally you'll get the nuts aggro draw. It is quite easy to tell.
*WARNING* Once you have run this by your group a few times, try and vary it up a little in the way you play or else you face the wrath from the table. If this happens, try going aggro or staying low until you can break free and just combo off in one turn.
Sign Off:
Even if you don't build the deck, I hope you thought it a good read, and maybe you might begin to look and say, RU Mefolk or something like that. WHO KNOWS!! Have fun with the idea, build tribal decks outside of their main colors.

So, why Wort?
For green. (Its also Goblin Marshal #2)

Xenagos, the Reveler- He makes tokens. His +1 is Gaea's Cradle. He puts the top 7 (ahem, Goblin Recruiter) onto the battlefield. He's hard to deal with. Overall, very strong.
Pelakka Wurm- Well Sylvan Primordial was the only other 7 drop worth playing. But since that's banned, this is mostly for Birthing Pod herpa derp.
SINGLE CARD DISCUSSIONS
Birthing Pod
CMC 2- Mogg War Marshal, Goblin Recruiter
CMC 3- Goblin Matron, Imperial Recruiter
CMC 4- Beetleback Chief, Goblin Ringleader
CMC 5- Zealous Conscripts, Siege-Gang Commander
CMC 6- Goblin Marshal, Godo, Bandit Warlord
CMC 7- Chancellor of the Forge, Pelakka Wurm
CMC 8- Craterhoof Behemoth
Yeah, that's powerful.
Goblin Recruiter
Listed in order on top of your library:
Goblin Ringleader, Goblin Warchief, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, Lightning Crafter, Siege-Gang Commander, Skirk Prospector, Krenko, Mob Boss, Goblin Pyromancer.
With Food Chain in play, you win.
Here's how:
Your board is Mountain-Mountain Forest, or Mountain Forest-Forest, 1 Goblin Recruiter and 1 Food Chain. 1st play a land. Then, cast Goblin Ringleader and take the four goblins off the top of your deck (Goblin Warchief, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, Lightning Crafter, and Siege-Gang Commander). Then exile both of your goblins for 8 red mana. Then cast Siege-Gang Commander for six red mana and then proceed to exile all of his tokens to make a total of 11 red mana. With this eleven mana, you cast Goblin Warchief to leave you with 8x red remaining. Follow that up with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker which leaves you with 4 red mana remaining due to the reduced casting cost from Goblin Warchief. Using 3 out of the remaining 4 red mana, cast the Lightning Crafter. While the champion ETB trigger is on the stack, create a copy of Lightning Crafter. That token enters the battlefield and its champion trigger goes on the stack on top of the original Crafter's trigger. The token's trigger resolves first and champions the Kiki-Jiki. Tap that token to deal 3 damage to a player. Then, with the first champion trigger on the stack, exile the token with Food Chain. Afterwards, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker untaps after re-entering the battlefield. Still with the first champion trigger on the stack, repeat the loop by tapping Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker to make another token.
Also very powerful.
Tooth and Nail/Defense of the Heart- go and grab Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Lightning Crafter/Zealous Conscripts. You also have the ability to go and get Goblin Recruiter and Goblin Ringleader.
Not Good Enough:
Horned Kavu- This card just doesn't do enough on its own. If it was a goblin, it would make it into the list 100%. Too bad Stingscourger says opponents' creatures only.
Greater Good- Most of these creatures have power less than 3, so this will mostly be card disadvantage, unfortunately.
Koth of the Hammer- Yes, it combos with Cloudstone Curio and Xenagos, the Reveler. Yes, it gives a short term mana boost. But that's about all it does.
Goblin Piledriver- Just a bigger goblin that only really shined against Mono-U. I prefer Craterhoof Behemoth much more.

Opening Hands:
Look for-
* 3 lands
* Goblin Recruiter
Other than that, that's pretty much it. Tutor effects can be useful if you don't have any creatures.

It would be cool to run a Godo, Bandit Warlord toolbox with Thornbite Staff (+ Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker) , Skullclamp, Basilisk Collar (+ Goblin Sharpshooter), and Nim Deathmantle (+ Ashnod's Altar(/Phyrexian Altar/Skirk Prospector only work with Goblin Marshal or hasty Krenko, Mob Boss or with Chancellor of the Forge and at least 3 other creatures) + Goblin Marshal/Beetleback Chief/Wort, the Raidmother/Mogg War Marshal).

If it didn't make all of my goblins attack, it would be in the deck. But as is, it is too risky to play on its own.

The reason for this change is that it never felt worth it to cast Goblin King. Too minimal of an effect on the game.
