So after "King Midas" was spoiled this week I decided I would see if it were plausible to build a Commander deck around him. Granted attacking would be the primary means of tapping him obviously you'd want to untap him multiple times to Gild a whole lot of creatures and make way for the red zone. So this is my first draft of the deck just as a proof of concept. I know not everything is optimal but honestly I'm not looking for him to win, just to Gild a lot of stuff for fun.
Feel free to add suggestions, I really would like to see how the community can make him work just a little better.
Drop the non black talismans probably. Add a vesuva and thespian stage to the lands to copy coffers. add karn the silver golem to make artifacts into creatures to exile.
Icy Manipulator is a bit mana hungry, but it has it's uses (tapping down a Blightsteel Colossus is my favorite) and it will let you tap Macar at the end of an opponent's turn. Basically, you have lots of ways to untap him, but a few more ways to let him get tapped without entering the red zone might be useful. I also agree with Flagnine1 that the off color talismans would be safe to cut.
